We're in the midst of our Eastern Canada tour with Hey Rosetta! and we're having ourselves a ball.  The shows in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, and Saint John were a big success, and we really dig the amazing Canadian hospitality.  Thank you for being full of awesome folks, Canada!  We lurve you.

Here are a couple band features/reviews from the great snowy north!

From the Chronicle Herald of Nova Scotia: www.thechronicleherald.ca/..WhatsHappening/1156957.html

And from the Halifax-based blog HeroHill: www.herohill.com/2009/12/quick-hitters-la-strada.htm

Oh!  Our album is done and we're excited to deliver it to you.  Just can't wait.

Until next time,
Your Friendly Neighborhood La Strada

HBO has licensed La Strada's tune 'Loved You All Along' for Bored to Death starring Jason Schwartzmann. It's in Episode 3 with Parker Posey, Brooklyn, and a posse of skaters.

The show airs in September.

Ok so we have to put the French songs on the back burner because we're working on the LP now. Lots of shows this month and next but we're workshopping our songs and building the list which is basically set. It looks like we got our producer who we're all really excited about and who will push our sound in new directions. Good Times

yes la strada is from williamsburg - just about one of the hippest epicenters in the country and yes we should be wearing really cool bandanas and drinking beer from paper cups and going to d.i.y. parties. but instead we're writing and recording a half dozen original french songs for your listening pleasure before we get started on our l.p.

don't ask why. there's no rhyme or reason to it, really. it's old school meets la strada meets a croissant.

it's just music.

Today our newly-born EP takes its first steps into a large and scary world. A world filled with wonder and beauty on the one hand; mystery and intrigue on the other. We hope to add something to that world... something good, something bad, something happy, something sad.. doesn't matter... what matters is that it was not just a bird but a fire as well, and sometimes a breath. She wondered whether that was its light she had seen flitting about the edge of the marshes at night, whether that was its breath she had felt driving the clouds across the sky, whether that was its voice she had heard in the sweet music of the bells.

You can buy that EP right here: http://www.ernestjenning.com/band_lastrada.htm

Hey.... as some of you Myspacers may know.... myspace can screw stuff up sometimes. Well, in our case... it hasn't been posting our blog entries, of which there have been many, and that's a shame since you've missed out on a wealth of good humored stories and anecdotes about our exciting and unremitting recording progress. As you can tell from the title of this entry... you've missed over 20 absorbing and verbose entries! In an effort to catch you all up... I'll sum up some things that have been written but never got posted:

1. We hired and recorded an 88 piece orchestra but then decided it weighed our songs down a bit too much... so we didn't end up using it.

2. We played a secret show at the Continental Airlines Arena in preparation for our album release party.

3. Devon fell face first into a huge puddle in Windsor Terrace. Most of us laughed at him.

4. We got into a big fight with David Lee Roth (who hasn't?)

5. Brady watched Planet of the Apes.

6. We laughed at Devon a little more.

7. James swallowed an entire microphone and felt fine.

8. We got the EP mastered.

10. 7 ate 9.

Anyway... there was more but I don't have time to relate it all to you right now. The point is, we've been having fun!

p.s. In the next update you'll find out when and where you can get our new album!

OK! Months later.... We're sweaty, we're dirty, we're breathing heavy... but we're happy! Recording is finished! Yes... it took a while... we had a lot working against us but we fought through... did a lot of guerrilla-style recording in people's apartment's and musty basements. Another thanks is in order to Alan Zapata (co-producer/engineer)... he's made this a magical experience for us all! We're loving the results and soooooo excited for you to hear them! Mixing starts today!

Thanks for sticking with us!

Some of you may know that we've been hard at work recording our debut EP. Well... i'd say it's about time for an update!

Everythings going really well so far... we've recorded the drums, guitars, bass, string trio, and some accordion so far. So we're getting close! This week we're going to be in the studio with the wonderful Tim Albright (trombone aficionado) and Rachael Elliott (the fantastic bassoonist for the Clogs). Very exciting! We're getting some really big and delicious sounds that are even surprising us! Our good friend/engineer/co-producer/super-genius Alan Zapata has been recording us and we're lucky to have his help... you'll soon hear why! So thanks for being patient... we're working as hard and as fast as we can to ensure that it's worth the wait!!!!
