The “bi” prefix is such an integral of our lives today (Bilingual, Bicultural, Bisexual…uf) and Satellite District understand that very well. These Atlanta boys have released an interesting EP that is not only “bi” but in many instances “multi”. Their production is impeccable, with their U2/The Killers-like sound and songwriting skills. Furthermore, their bilingual status and display puts them in a great new platform of up-and coming bands from different parts of the states that embrace their affinity for Indie rock from a Hispanic background perspective such as Los Hollywood, Montenegro and others.
Sometimes Muse, sometimes Zoe, sometimes Interpol, and sometimes even Soda Stereo, Satellite District are here to seriously make people want to listen more. Track highlights: “New World” is a great single and this EP includes a Spanish version (“Busca el amor”) that does not lose anything in translation. Other great tracks are “Traveling through time” and “Particulas”. Satellite District has a strong connection with South Florida as some members started with the guys from the always remembered duo/band Diestra, who suffered the loss of one of his members to a car accident a couple of years ago.
This is great music from serious musicians. Let’s hope to catch Satellite District down here in So FL soon. In the meantime, look for their music and download it. You won’t regret it.
Track List:
New World
Sweet love
Traveling through time
To the moon and back
Particulas
Busca el amor
WORLD"

Altanta band Satellite District robbed in PhillyAugust 20th, 2009 by Alejandro A. Leal in Music news While on tour in Philadelphia, thieves broke into Atlanta-based Satellite District’s van and made out with about $14,000 worth of equipment, according to lead guitarist Yul Gomez.“We don’t even have a guitar pick,” he wrote in an email. One of the few bilingual acts based in Atlanta, the band was on the first legs of a multi-city tour throughout the North and South East to promote its new material, but the unfortunate turn of events have threatened the continuation of the tour.“Many local bands in have come to our rescue by offering their gear to play some of our shows,”read a post on their Myspace page. “Even some of the ones we are playing with offered their share of pay for us.”Tomorrow’s show at the Drunken Unicorn is now being billed as fundraiser for the band, who’ll play using equipment borrowed from fellow headliners Attention System and Promise December.Their debut EP, New World, was self-released in September of last year and is available through iTunes.Download: “New World”Satellite District, Attention System and Promise December Fri.
