SummerChomp is in full swing now...
Jah Roots will be dontating their time to us...and we are very excited to have them...
I sent out a call to all Artistic Chompers to design the poster.
Now we just have to round up the people....we need to get the word out.
So feel free to design your own chompdown bulletin and post it.
You should all know the basics about what we are trying to accomplish and how we do it...but if you are a bit foggy...
A Chompdown is a gathering of like minded festival-goers who want to provide a good morning meal, while enjoying the company of each other and the music provided by a band who has donated their time to the cause. The basics are very simple....we take donations of Eggs, Juice, Butter, Bread and Bacon and cook them up for people. We never charge for the food...but encourage those that partake to either bring some food donation, help cook, help clean, or just help another sometime during the festival. We simply are just trying to put the "human" back in humanity, and just express a caring for each others as friends, and as strangers with like minds. We are all here to have a good time...and sometimes we forget how important a good morning meal is to keep us going through the day. We are here to remind you of that....and bring it to you.
We really need to find a way into the community that will be at this show. Direct them to the ChompSpace page and encorage them to sign up as a friend, so they can recieve bulletins and the latest info about what, when, and where.
One thing I was thinking is that we could hit the Phantasy Boards. I was planning on creating a thread today at some time...if i have the time. If you would like to create it...let me know...so we don't double up on threads on their board.
Once again...it is really all of you that make the CHompdown what it truly is...and I just want to thank you for helping me bring this idea into reality.
Ok...if you can't tell I just about as excited as anyone could possibly be...is it time yet???
Oh yea, if you are going to be at SummerCamp...please let me know so I can put you in the the top friends...this will be a way we can all keep in contact with each other.
Peace and Kind Love, -rabbit

Can you smell the Bacon, BBQ, Eggs, and Good Times???
The Pre-Union has shaped up better than I could have ever imagined. Just a few short weeks ago we were kicking around the idea of heading having some people stay at Pauly's place after a night of Dirtfoot'in...and now this. A PACKED house, a BBQ feast with our buds, and Chompdown de Cheese. What can I say, YOU GUYS RULE.
Personally, I am looking forward to the amazing amount of good vibes that I will get to be immersed in. I am also looking forward to getting down to business on Summer Camp. I still need those of you that have been to Summer Camp to compile a list of things that might possibily be obstacles for us.
The last few of the Chomp/Foot Shirts will be available at the show...so if you did not place an order for one and are going to be there...this may be you last chance to snatch one up. Remember all the profits from the shirts will be going to "FOOD NOT BOMBS". I have raised about 1/2 of the money needed to pay for the shirts. I got paid today so I am adding the other 1/2 and sending the money order off tomorrow. Hopefully they will be the early on in the week of the 8th. I have spoken with Adam "the t-shirt guy", and might have them actually shipped to Pauly's if it gets down to the wire!!!!
We are still looking for a taper to for the show at George's. We need to capture this one, since it looks to be two sets. One on the main stage before the Alliance, and one in the Lounge after they are done. Who knows what that might bring.
On an Alliance note...I sent an message to each member of the band to invite them to join us the next morning's Chompdown. Their manager said they may be heading back to "Hotlanta" after the show, but if they were in town and awake when we do it, they might be down. Reguardless, he said that he is very excited to see Dirtfoot play, and meet the likes of us. Very cool message he sent in response to the invatation and then all the band members joined the ChompSpace one right after the other. So send them each a message or leave a comment on their page urging them to go to the Chompdown the next morning and it might just happen.
Also, a friendly reminded that everyone should bring some food for the next morning feast...and maybe a grill or two (LOL)...so that we can feed everyone...and if it just a few of us...we will at least have left our gracious host breakfast for sometime to come. Remember the stapes of the Chompdown are: Eggs (1 dozen), 1 gallon of Juice, 1 Stick of butter, bread, and some cheese. I have heard talk of lots of variations of items are bringing down, and if you have been to a chomp before you know...everything is welcome!!! I have even heard rumor of Venison Bacon (lean and mean).
I can't believe that the time has flown by so quickly. Let's hope the months between the Pre-Union and "Chompy turns 2" go by quickly. Summer Camp will be a great experience, but if you are like me you can't wait to get back to the Shelter House and watch the line form again!!! I have a couple real special ideas to make the birthday fun, as well as cool.
Ok, well its late, I just wanted to say...TWO WEEKS, BITCHES!!!

Hey fellow Chompers....
It looks like the 20 sided die has been rolled and it comes up SUMMERCHOMP!!!
This is a chance for us to take our movement NORTH, to Chillicothe, Il. A chance for us to bring a good morning meal to those hungry Moe. and Umphery's Fans after a night of good times.
So far the line-up looks like this: moe. (3days) Umphrey's (2 days) The Flaming Lips Cornmeal Grooveatron 56 Hope Road The Avett Brothers
and many more exciting artists will be added soon. One of our Chompers (The Nipper) is working on a space for us to do it at. I have also sent the intial email about doing it and now we just need to wait and see if they will let us.
The next thing we need to work on is a band to play for us there. I am pretty sure that it is quite a bit of a haul for our boys in Dirtfoot to make...unless they get the time, gas, and fundage to make it there and back....so this is a call to IL area folk to reccomend a band that would be a good fit with us. They must be accoustic...since there is no guarentee of power.
Now begins the work my friends....these things usually move pretty fast...so...you will probably be seeing some word in the next few days. Once again, this is totally exciting to take our movement to the north. --------------------------------------------------------------
On another note...the Pre-Union in Fayetteville Arkansas on Feb 9th, is shaping up very well. As of now we look like there is going to be about 10 of us traveling to the wonderful city of Fayetteville to Jam with Col. and Dirtfoot. Then, next morning, we are going to have a special CHOMPDOWN at Casa de Cheese....more about that will be announced as details finalized....but let's just say that there will be some good chompin on Sunday the 10th. This will also be a good chance for those that are going to SummerCamp to forum together about that weekend in May. Don't for get the syrup!!!!
Friends 9 - 20 have said that they will either be there...or are strongly considering it. Let me know if you are going to be there and I will add you to them as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------
T-shirts we an amazing success....the 1st 25 went in less than 48 hours. Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered!!!! When all the funds are in and the totals tallied I will let you know how much we raised for the "Food NOT Bombs" program!!! I would like to send a special shout out to Adam for the amazing deal he is giving us on these American made shirts. I am projecting that the Chompdown will be able to donate about 100 to 125 dollars to charity.
The shirt that is feeding the hungry will have a 2nd run with another charity...i want to get this one sent out first and some pictures up. I have this feeling that there will be quite a few of these bad boys being worn at the Pre-Union....and a few pictures will be snapped so you can see them fully displayed.
Once again thanks to everyone who expressed intrest after we ran out...I will be contacting you very soon. ------------------------------------------
Well everyone, that is about it in a nutshell. I will be posting more info about SummerChomp as I get it....keep em crossed!!!

How does this sound???
George's Majestic in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Sat Feb 9th. Tickets are $10
Col. Bruce Hampton is playing
Chompdown's resident bacon:
DIRTFOOT is opening!!!!
If you are not familar with Col. Bruce he use to head up a little band called Aquarium Rescue Unit. They were one of the orginal H.O.A.R.D.E. bands, who toured one year with likes of; Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, Widespread Panic, and then little band called, Phish.
Members of ARU are O'teil Burbridge, Jimmy Herring Bobby Lee Rodgers, and my favorite Apt -Q258.
The Col. been involved with a rotating band of players
He is currently playing with The Quark Alliance featuring: Jeff Caldwell - guitar Kris Dale - bass Mark Letalien - drums
In the past I have seen Bruce. do collaboration with his opening bands and it would not suprise me to see him ask any of the DIRTFOOT fellas to sit in with the Quark Alliance for a song or two.
As of yet, this is just a meeting of Chompers, in the vacation state of the Chompdown to celebrate one night of fun...before we all meet again in just a few short months at Wakarusa. Where, hopefully, we will be apart of one of the coolest morning of music, meeting, and munchin!!!
I know it would be great for the band to see all us there!!! "Chompdown Forever"
So any thoughts about Fayetteville in February??? Comment...or message me.
-brer rabbit
PS - Feel free to post this again to get the word out and have your friends about the Chompdown Reunion.
* note to Foot - this is just me being is a rabbit state of mind...pay no attention to the ramblings of the man behind the keyboard....its just me.

Current mood: bouncy
Just letting you all know that today... that Scott became of 150th member of the ChompSpace
welcome Scott!!!!
Shortly after that Breakfast On Tour asked to be our friend... I have been combing thier site lately and have to say...i am very impressed!!!
Lots of good info, and lots of good interviews, as well as a overall sense of fun. If you are not their friend yet...do yourself a favor Chompers and add them....here is a brief statement about them... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Breakfast On Tour was cooked up in the fall of 2007. The breakfast idea developed out of (oddly enough) an emergency room visit. Cereal accompanied a good friend to the ER a few weeks before Halloween 2007. She and Eggs had been racking their brains for costume ideas, and while she sat in the ER staring blankly at the TV, she had an epiphany (okay, so it was less of an epiphany and more of a commercial)--Froot Loops. When her friend returned, Cereal excitedly told her of her costume idea. She replied, "You should go as bacon and eggs or something--be breakfast!" And so breakfast was born.
Eggs and Cereal decided to wear their costumes to the Voodoo Music Experience, and were determined to convince the rest of their group to become breakfast items. Fortunately, they were easily persuaded, and the original breakfast crew made their debut at the festival: Cereal, Eggs, Doughnut, Coffee, Toast, Bacon, and Syrup.
While at Voodoo, the idea of creating a music-focused blog was discussed. And why not? Our favorite hobby is going to shows, and we talk about music constantly anyway, so...why not write about it? And here we are, Breakfast On Tour. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does that not sound like a great fit...you need to check their website breakfastontour.com and look at their costumes....they have already said they will be at waka...and will be at the chompdown...TOTALLY AWESOME.
I have mentioned to some of you that this month I am going to drop some great suprises on you...and ask for some ideas...and that leads me to idea number one!!!!
The WAKARUSA CHOMPDOWN POSTER!!!! Last year the amazing April Green did an amazing job with the poster and started a tradition. The WAKARUSA CHOMPDOWN poster. Since then the Mulberry Mountain poster was used in an upcoming film starring John Cusak called "Wonderful World" and now here is your chance to be the next in the series....
ideas, ideas, ideas....get those ideas brewing (pauly do you like the reference??) cause in the next few weeks I will be announcing the time, the date, and artists of the upcoming chomp. I am putting this really early just so that you all can get those creative juices (gallon sized) flowing and so that we don't have a last minute freak out like Mulberry (see blog).
Ok, well there it is...the 1st official message from the Chomp in 2008.
Hope everyone had a great holiday run....and get ready...its almost festival time again.

Ok....
It has been about a week since I recieved a call from our old buddy "J" from IRTFOO....(that's dirtfoot to those that were not at Mulberry)....
he had some seriously exciting news for all of us...he had just spoken with a producer who was planning on shooting a movie in Shreveport called something like "Wonderful Life". It is suppose to feature Matthew Brodrick (Ferris himself, oh yea, and my favorite....GODZILLA). He is supposedly a guy who owns/or works at a record store. He is very discontent with his life and ends up there quite a bit...
well, "J" was aksed to provide some "Dirtfoot" art work and he gave them some copies of the bands art, including all the Chomp art work that has been submitted...and guess what....???!!! They love the "Chompdown on the Mountain" poster. So they have asked to get Hi-Res copies and might just use them as posters in the back ground in the movie.
How exciting is that???
CHOMPDOWN AT THE MOVIES...as more develops I will surely let you all know. Once again, I just want to thank everyone that has made this rabbits vision come to life. Without all of you this would have never come about...and without all of you...it would have never become as big as it has become. It seems a shame that there are no more events that we can attend this year...but I have a feeling that next year a group of us might be able to take the show on the road.
The organizing for next year has already begun. It is a time comsuming process but it is a total labor of love. Much love to everyone!!! Spread the news CHOMPDOWN '08...I am thinking about making stickers that resemble campaign stickers (too cheesy???)
Peace and Kind love to all of you -rabbit

We are people, and we want others, to be people! There is nothing wrong with Love. and LOVE is never wrong! the energy at the mountain is something different...it is BIGGER. I hope that EVERYONE will come together...and this OUR group will have kick stated it.
You know who you are....and you know!!!

Hello everyone,
I want to start out by saying there is just one month to go till we gather for a night of fun, followed by a morning of food. I want to welcome the close to 20 new chomp memebers and say....if there is anything that you have questions about...feel free to ask me personally.
So once again it is time to organize.
I know a few have offered to bring stoves, and food, but what we need is reusable silverware...does anyone work with a restraunt??? if so...what we did last time was have about 40 spoons, forks, and knives...and a big tub...then we just reused them as once they were dirty and we were running out. I am looking for someone to bring some silverware...if you can do this...please personally message me and we will have that part taken care of.
Next, remember this time we are trying to go ORGANIC (still no egg will be turned away), but as a request to Dewey and the fine poeple at Mulberry Mountain and the Chompdown...if you can make it organic...that is the way to go. Hit your local farmer's markets, organic sections in your grocery stores, and other natural food marts in your area.
As always the Chompdown stapels are....
1 dozen eggs....1 stick of butter....1 gallon of juice...and some bread.
There is this love of bacon...and who knows maybe this time we will have the bacon cook off...since some of the kings of sizzle will be there with us. I know that the Wakarusa board family is extremely excited to meet and eat with all the fine folks in Arkansas. This is going to be an tremedous event.
I am also looking for suggestions about reaching others that will be at the festival. Feel free to repost this bulletin and make sure you direct them to the chompdown myspace and have them join. We hope to have as postive a turn out as we did at Wakarusa...I mean how can you turn down free Chomp???
More to come....
