I once knew a cowboy, and today is his birthday. But i didnt bake a cake, or buy any candles. I just kissed the sky and sent my heart upward. And  then i got my heart back, a special gift from Sam Nation. The greatest gift of all.

Its that time of year again, got to get the rake out this weekend and gather the trees leaves. Thats my" fall "sport. Well now that ive stopped bevving heavily, falling isnt on the list much anymore.And then theres the whole jumping into the leaves once youve got them all in a pile. Ever do that? Did you ever burn your leaves? I remember smelling that as a kid, always liked it.Rambling? ME?! ok well, where was I? Oh yeah, ROCK tober.My favorite month, cuz its all rock ,all the time.And I like to rock, the band likes to rock, and i bet you do too, dont cha?!We are going to rock at the Northside tavern soon, with special guests and UBER pals of ours, the Wolverton Brothers. Wear a wolly bras shirt and get nothing but admiration all night long.I have always longed for a Wolverton Wifes shirt myself. You know they are rare?Even the wolvertons THEMSELVES dont have any.Maybe i should check FGbay. Danas got EVERYTHING in there.So, look at our calendar, and we will see you ,on the scene,baby!......................................................................................or not

I suppose finishing a record is the closest thing i will be able to compare a childbirth experience with. Ive never bore  a human, tho im sure ive BORED SOME....but yeah, its gotta be alot like it. The pleasure of writing the music and making it into a song( sex), the overindulgence of spending HUGE amounts of money in the studio( birthing classes, the nursury, all those locks you put on your cabnets), all of the artwork( babys first picture).and then holding your breath while watching what came out of the whole thing. Cept records dont talk back, or ask for car keys, or get arrested.and have to call you at 3 am. They just sort of sit there. Looking at you, wanting you to DO SOMETHING with it.Right? I sure hope your doing something with it, are you listening to it? Singing along with it? Wondering what it means? Or if your hearing it right? Do you HAVE IT? You can get it locally at shake it, here in northside, or you can write us and we will send it to ya, 10 bucks is all we ask, we will even throw in the "forever"stamp as our gift to you.No, that wasnt a mistake, we are backed by the postal service. no, not really, just pulling yer ol fg chain. We are thinking about putting out a 45. Does anyone listen to those anymore. SURVEY?

We are making a record. Its been a long time comin.What are you to do when you cant keep a line up? FINALLY, these ones( Randy, Pat and Beth) seemed to have stuck, and we like it. The songs cover about three years.Some are really current, some of them  "standards", hopefully you will like them all. We do.Hope its not too preachy or anything like that. We have some bomb ass pictures that Matt took of us.Oh, and did i mention the Cd is going to be in cardboard? NO PLASTIC!!!! We are thrilled about that.After all, we are pet owners !

My words of advice are as follows to those who care:

 Dont think your going to say something "wrong". Whats wrong about talking about someone you love?

Dont think your going to "bring up a sore subject" uh, the person your worried about ALREADY IS VERY AWARE they the other persons dead, Your not telling this person anything new.

Its nice to try to make a big deal out of the so called anniversary date, but your friend your so worried about needs help all year round. NOT just the date the tragedy happend ( every day is a year to them)

Embrace the dead persons concept of life,joy, sorrow ,all of it and then apply it to you own self, and to others when you can, this is why they shared their thoughts with you to begin with..

 Talk to them, and then, LISTEN to them.Spirits are not bashfull, and they are kinda smart

The best gift you can give anyone grieving is YOURSELF AND YOUR TIME.Its the only gift anyone needs when everything they loved is yanked away from them. Just LOVE THEM and TELL THEM, not their best friend.Talk directly to the one that got left behind, they need you and dont know how to ask.

 And lastly( cuz i could go on forever) , do not be afraid to live your life to the fullest up until you die. All of your bedazzled material efforts will not get you to the next phase, but your soul DOES come along, so work on that, not on how much you can impress your friends with that new house, or car.You know,all of that really doesnt mean shit to a tree.In other words, get your priorities straight, you will be a better person and friend when you do.

  I say this because of whats been my situation for the past 2 years, and i dont want anyone in the world  to feel THIS LONELY.

Lets Rock ! FG's are steppin out on the "avenue" for a coupla shows. You will already know this cuz i KNOW you already have the dates written down!if you dont , check out our rock show calender. Its going to feel good to play, it feels like its been  such a long time. Past are the days of playing every weekend, of lugging the gear, and all that goes with it. sigh. BUT, at least we get to do it friday, oh yes we do!! and its with a great friend of ours, some of you might recall, Sue Scrawl, from the columbus band , scrawl. Her new band is pushing thru, so we are excited to see a friend,as well as hear whats commin out of columbo these days.Hope you can make this one, but if you cant, we are also playing next sat night with a band from Brooklyn, so you have some chances, No we dont do NASH anymore....but i did think about him the other day. It( our show, not nash) will be the day after the hall mark holiday, better known as VD day( valentines day), so we will probably dress in pink or red, i might hand out some candy, ya know, a typical farimount friday.

This time of year always reminds me of two Joni Mtchell songs. "Its comin on christmas, thier cuttin down trees,puttin up raindeer and singing songs of joy and peace, oh i wish i had a river i could skate away on...." off of Blue. And "chritmas is sparklin out on Carols lawn, this girl of my childhood games has kids nearly grown and gone , grown so fast like the turn of a page. We look like our mothers did now, when we were those kids age, ah nothin lasts for long", off of Wild Things Run Fast. If you are not familier with these then you are musically innept and NEED to hear this! If you ARE familier, then your singing them right now! Usually im very festive at Christmas, This was my moms favorite holiday, when she died, i sorta took over the love . But when Sam died( my beloved cowboy), it went away. So this year ,ive put on my red  boots, and my red coat and im going to look for that cheer.Gonna track it down since it seems to be avoiding me, sorta like everything and everyone else in my life. To kick it off, its Fairmount Girls at the Comet, our annual chritmas show, i think weve done it for at least 5 years now. We all wrap a box full of fairmount frolick and then we ask trivia questions( about Fairmount girls , what else?) then give them to the lucky winners. We have a blast, and the Comet is such a wonderful place  we couldnt think of anywhere else to hold such an event. NO OTHER SHOW COMPARES to what this one offers. And this year we are having our dearest of dears MEADOW play with us. As you die hard FG fans know, our own Janey( fg OO1) is in this band and we just love the idea of sharing the stage( er ah, floor) with her. We will have our bake sale in full swing, festive lighting, mistletoe( but dont worry, i wont be under there so your all safe), christmas boxes, and a full rock set. Will you be there? Do we have a santa this year? Anyone want to volunteer? Anyone, but hooter. Sorry bud, you were a santa dud. HO HO HO....... what did you just call me??!!
