Press Release : Wednesday January 23 The Familiar Surrounds Tour Auckland - Thursday February 14 – Whammy Bar Waiheke Island – Friday February 15 – The Matiatia Taupo – Saturday February 16 – L'Arte Cafe Wellington – Friday February 22 – Mighty Mighty Gisborne – Saturday March 23 – Soho Bar The familiar surrounds tour celebrates the NZ release of Cassette's 'Cancer EP.' A collection of classic bare, powerful country rock which features songs ' Look at you ' (currently in the Bfm top ten) and 'Cancer' (currently no.1 on the Kiwi fm top ten ). With Cassette's music charging through the independent charts and summer all over us the time has come to hit the road, taking with them some of the finest in Australasian songwriters, Ned Collette and Bachelorette. Also joining the tour will be bass legend Andrew Bain of Fur Patrol fame. This is going to be an all hands on deck experience with all performers contributing to each others songs (see- 4 part harmony central) in a never to be repeated live show. Australian Ned Collette is no stranger to Aotearoa but this is his first extensive solo tour here. His old band City City CIty came and played a mammoth 18 shows a couple of years back, and Ned's Kiwi family has ensured that a fair chunk of his childhood was spent walking the Wellington hills. His second album Future Suture teems with elaborate arrangements, slow building melodies, gradually revealed hooks and optimistic yet world weary lyrics. 2007 saw him tour Europe at the request of Joanna Newsom, play headline shows in the UK and US and return to Australia where he formed a new band around the whole thing. In NZ he will be ably backed by the members of Cassette and Bachelorette. Bachelorette is the current musical endeavor of Christchurch and Auckland based multi-instrumentalist Annabel Alpers. In 2005, Bachelorette released her first EP, 'The End of Things', followed in 2006 by the LP 'Isolation Loops'. Both records received rave reviews and kudos. Her music is psychedelic, indie and acoustic pop with a healthy helping of organs, synths and assorted other instruments weaving in and out of the mix. Bachelorette's music has been compared to Stereolab, a less-wacky Bj Ørk, Grandaddy, Neutral Milk Hotel and Kraftwerk, without ever being easy to define.

The BabyshadS present 'I work therefore I am' Party In promotion of
And They Did. BabyshadS' new Fringe Festival production at BATS
Launch party at The Mighty Mighty 104 Cuba Street Wednesday 30 January, from 8pm Featuring bands: The Actualities, Palace This and DJ Puckarazzi
In celebration of the BabyshadS (theatre/dance company) triumphant return to Wellington theatre and their new show "And They Did" we are throwing a high profile, wild, crazy, fun, party to generate excitement and interest in this dance theatre extravaganza, on at BATS from 9th February to the 13th February.
Since the show is surrealist physical theatre for the poor and desperate – based around Lady and her in house maids as they prepare for a dinner party – and inspired by the ethical challenges faced by a young cash-strapped generation, this party celebrates the hedonist lifestyle of young Wellingtonians, working for the man during the day, and partying all night, usually whilst drinking a bottle of Corbans White Label. Thus it features young Wellington bands – The Actualities and Palace This.
