We're often taught to believe that treasures have to be dug up from the deepest reaches of the earth; and, or because of the sublimest efforts of men to bring them to light.  But, once in a very great while, treasures can stare you right in the face, and hit you like a ton of bricks!

That's exactly what we thought when we heard a powerhouse named Gaby Moreno (www.myspace.com/GabyMoreno).  Her solo performance at The Venice Songfest was one of those things that could make time stand still.  We are very honored to have shared the same stage with her.

We've uploaded a new video (we're performing "Calling For Love" on the Main Stage at the 2009 OC Super Fair), and we've also put up a new song - "Beautiful Eyes" (from our Live In Studio A session on KDVS 90.3 FM) - let us know what you think.

Don't forget to check out the photos!

In the meanwhile, we'll be in the studio recording some new stuff for our upcoming album - we really hope you like the result. Stay tuned.

We just came back from a show on KDVS 90.3 FM (Live In Studio A),
and can say with the utmost confidence that the Analog sound is alive
and well at UC Davis. Thanks to an in-house audio wizard by the name
of Fenris Wulf, the "wall of sound" that you hear on The Beatles' album
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, has been faithfully recreated
(in Hi-Fi Stereo) - complete with the quintessential reverb chambers
(ala Phil Spector).

If you've never heard the difference between digital vs analog reverb,
we highly recommend the experience! Peter Frampton even went so
far as to use a castle to get that "sound;" and it was a hallmark of the
sixties (up to the eighties).

So, if you're ever in the Davis, CA area, stop by 14 Lower Freeborn Hall,
and cut some tracks with the wizard at Studio A (www.kdvs.org).

Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" has passed away - but not his music.  As an artist, his influence cannot be measured.  He made headway into the other arts, as well: dance, stage, film, etc.  We are thankful that we grew up listening to some of the best music ever - Michael Jackson's music among them.  And if eternity were to measure a man according to his best - rather than by his worst - then Michael Jackson's contribution to the world, will weigh heavily in his favor.

"All art constantly aspires to the condition of music." - Walter Pater

Hey, Hey!

One of our upcoming shows is hosted by SongSmith Productions called The Venice SongFest, April 21st!!! We had attended a show in March, and it was a BLAST, so we're looking forward to having our performance there!
So many talented aritsts were there playing REAL MUSIC (by real, we mean: understandable words pronunciated properly for the purpose of the song; Catchy, memorable lyrics and MELODY - definitely need that! Heart and soul, and sincerity; and, perhaps a little j'ne sais quois! LOL!) (*^_^*) From beginning to end, the show had nonstop entertainment and truly professional performances by some of LA's finest! The atmosphere is terrific too... every musician has a mutual respect for one another's gifts; and no one complained about the audio - 'cause the sound engineer was AWESOME!
We're fortunate enough that our friends in SongSmith Productions are allowing us to help produce the Venice Songfest - but, in most cases... we're happy just helping out other talented artists that have taken the time to come out and give us what they've spent their life trying to share in their music!
Anyway, whole point of this blog is that we'd like to invite YOU (the reader) to come out to any one of the Venice SongFest shows* to enjoy an evening of great music and entertainment! It's every 3rd Tuesday of every month, NO COVER! (just a suggested donation of $10); the show is from 7-10 pm, with the first hour being an open mike event and the last 2 hours is four different showcases. Bring friends and family and come with a hunger for good music - and food (cash only)!

The Talking Stick
1411 Lincoln Blvd, Venice, CA 90291.

(310) 450-6052

We hope to see you all there!

Hi all!

We saw a picture online of the Imagine Peace Tower over in Reykjavik, Iceland - dedicated to John Lennon... beautiful sight! Read somewhere that the words "Imagine Peace" is carved out on the light pillar in 24 languages!!! (O_O)

So, had a thought... imagining Peace is great... but making Peace is different, 'cause its conditions are unwavering, and it mustn't be abused for personal gain.

Anyway, with the help of an unnamed source, here's our version of a Peace Tower (more like a column!!! ^_^ ) Enjoy reading it (or trying to, anyway - the pronunciation of most of them are doozies!)

We heard the sad news that the world has lost an outstanding citizen, and an amazing woman:  Estelle Bennett, has passed away.  She, along with sister Veronica (Ronnie) and cousin Nedra Talley, was part of the quintessential girl group known as The Ronettes. She will be sorely missed.

Amazing!  That's the only way we can describe the show at The Talking Stick in Venice, CA. on January 15, 2009.  On the bill were Martin Yarbrough (Earth, Wind, and Fire), Michael Kenzik, and Bruce Sanborn and His Band - along with Special Guest Leon Rubenhold (Wilson Pickett).  The event was taped live for a CD, and began with RAMEKEGA opening the show.  The atmosphere, the audience, the artists, and the music ... all added up to an amazing experience!  Now, THAT, is what we call FUN.
