Monday 7th September

From Gary

Hi Everyone
So here we are sitting backstage at the Barfly in Camden - this was the first venue we ever played in London back in 2002, and we signed a deal that night pretty much straight after the show. It seems so weird being back here 7 YEARS LATER as a 4 piece on the eve of the release of our 4th album. We never expected to be around to make a 4th album, and we are so proud to be in this position. Cheers to everyone who have been with us, and hope yr all as excited about tomorrow as we are.
Regards, as always, Gary John Jarman

From Ryan

Really excited to be releasing the record tomorrow, and really proud to see everyone being so supportive of it already. Thanks for being part of it.
Ryan x

From Johnny

It's exciting that everyone can finally get to hear Ignore The Ignorant, I am personally really proud of this record, and have been touched by the welcome that I have had from the fans.
Johnny

Hey everyone, So, just a quick email from the van enroute to Reading for our second instore gig. Thanks to everyone that came to the Leeds instore, it was nice to play Leeds again for the first time since we did the festival last year, and also nice to see the amount of people that actually left the festival on a sunday morning to make the instore. Don't know how you managed it. It was also really gratifying to see a lot of Jeffrey Lewis/ Thermals t-shirts in the crowd - glad you guys are appreciating the support bands that we have been bringing you over the years! Anyway, Cheat On Me is out today, you can get 2 7"s and the CD format from all good record stores or online at HMV (the digital format is available on iTunes too). There's a bunch of new tracks coming with it too, 7" 1 has 'So Hot Now', and the CD has 'Curse This English Rain'. These 2 songs were recorded with Nick Launay in LA and then finished at Mastan Music in Portland, OR with our good friend Jeremy Wilson, formally of the Dharma Bums. He did a great job, and we think these are up there with the best of our b-sides (something we take great pride in). OK, gotta stop typing cos Shippos driving is making me nauseous. See you later. Gary IGNORE THE IGNORANT : LISTEN NOW AND PRE-ORDER 'Ignore The Ignorant' is available to listen to NOW exclusively on NME.com. The album isn't out until next week, but you can hear it now (if you're not in the UK, you can only hear 30 second clips... sorry!). If you pre-order 'Ignore The Ignorant' now from iTunes, you'll get the album a day early and for £4.99. The price will go back to the normal £7.99 on the 7th. If you're in the US, you can also pre-order the album from iTunes. There's a standard version ($9.99) and a deluxe version ($14.99) which includes the Manchester Ritz gig. SEE THE CRIBS LIVE AT NME TOWERS The Cribs will be playing an NME Radio session on the 11th of September - possibly the most intimate gig the band have ever played, and there are four tickets to be won over at NME.com. You have to enter by the 7th, and winners will be announced on the 8th. NME Radio will also be giving away 4 more pairs of tickets from the 7th to the 10th, so you can tune in for another chance to win.

Alright everyone, Ross here.

Just thought would email you all and let you know whats been going on this week.
First up, the new album "Ignore The Ignorant" is now available to pre-order from the UK itunes store for £4.99 . Yes five bar for the whole album via itunes! You also get an exclusive track called "Is Anybody There" with it, which wont be available on any other format and it also all becomes available on the 6th September (a day before the album is released). This all sounds like one of them silly adverts you get on the telly- to recap- new album, exclusive track, discounted price- 4.99, and you get it a day early. Now that sounds like something off Mikes Carpets, but with a product much less crappy! But wait a minute, buy now and get a second one absolutely free (just kidding on that bit.)
READING / LEEDS
Right next thing-We are doing Reading and Leeds this year, but its not what it appears to be. We are doing instore shows / signings at HMV Reading and HMV Leeds to coincide with physical release of 'Cheat On Me':

30 August - Leeds HMV (12pm)
31 August - Reading HMV (12pm)

The digital is already available on itunes though, you can
get it from here, but for those who like the artwork / physical (like me) its out the 31st Aug.
ALBUM PLAYBACKS
Next thing to mention is we are also having some playbacks of the new album in the run up to the release date. You can go along and hear the new album in full for the first time. Here is the schedule-

27 August
Club NME @ Rivermead, Reading

03 September
Propaganda @ Blush, Cheltenham

04 September
Propaganda @ Gatecrasher, Birmingham
Ramshackle @ O2 Academy, Bristol

07 September
Delight @ Route 66, Portsmouth

Right thats it for now.

That's right....for Cribs fans in the USA, look out for Gary at the Denver Pepsi Center (saturday 15th) and the Salt Lake City Energy Solutions Arena (sunday 16th) as he will be filling Bob Hardy's position on bass guitar for Franz Ferdinand on tour with Green Day.

No practice, no sound check, no worries - just winging it in front of 20,000 people. Sweet.

Hey kids,

Instead of buying a McDonalds burger this Monday please buy or new single "cheat on me" from itunes

We're releasing it almost a month early on the 3rd of August to beat the leakers. If you care about the band then please support us in this way, we've always cared for you so please care for us.

Plus, don't forget we gave you "We Were Aborted" for free so it's kind of like 2 for 1.

This is not about selling records, it's about integrity. It's still coming out physically on the 31st of August with exclusive new b-sides and artwork etc. but if you want it now then get it from us, the people who made it.

Pledge yr allegiance for less than the price of a burger.

Peace, love and respect as always, from Ryan x

FRIDAY 17TH JULY 2009A MESSAGE FROM RYAN
Hello comrades,

I hope this letter finds you all happy and in good health...
so Gary forgot to mention that those of you in Yorkshire (White)/Lancashire (Red)/Portland (Pink) will be able to get a really special edition of the record, called "The Roses Edition".

Pre-Order Roses Boxset from Norman
Pre-Order Roses Boxset from Townsends

It is a box set that has the new record in it, a DVD that contains a documentary about the making of the  album by our good friend Patrick Stanton (he of Leave Too Neat, Live at the Brudenell fame) and an 8mm silent movie that I have been working on, plus an extra bonus CD that contains the full live set from our Manchester Ritz gig earlier in the year.

Pre-Order Ignore The Ignorant Standard CD
Pre-Order Ignore The Ignorant Limited CD / DVD

DECEMBER TOUR

...those gigs in December, I think they are what I'm looking forward to most. They will surely be really special events for us and I'm sure will be an important chapter in the touring history of the band. We've always seen ourselves as primarily a live band and we fully intend these gigs to be the biggest and best ones so far.

December

02 - Academy, Birmingham
03 - Brixton Academy, London
05 - Dome, Doncaster
06 - Corn Exchange, Edinburgh

Take care out there.

Sincerely,
Ryan Jarman

Category: Blogging
Hi everyone,

First up, thanks for all the get well soon messages and concern that I have received recently, it is certainly appreciated. Things are looking up, my vocal surgery apparently went off without a hitch and it is a massive weight off my mind...I have had this problem ever since the tail-end of The New Fellas touring way back in 2005, and it has been long overdue for sorting out. You may have noticed that my once youthful sounding cherub-like voice from the first album has, over the course of 3 records, degenerated into the grizzled, bitter old man voice of today. Well, no more! I am currently mute, unable to speak for the next couple of weeks, and on a heady mixture of Vicodin and Throat Coat tea. As I said, things are looking up!

Anyway, here is some news about the upcoming September tour. Some of you may already know all of this, but here it is from the horses (silent, aching) mouth....

We are excited to announce that ADAM GREEN will be the main support on all of these dates. We were all big Moldy Peaches fans back in the early days of The Cribs, so it is an honour to have Adam along for the ride. Should be a lot of fun.

Also, opening up the show every night up until Exeter will be LISSY TRULLIE. This is a band I am personally looking forward to seeing, as they are Wichita's newest signings, and that is seal of approval enough for me.

OK, I saved the best news for last - after trying to coax them out of their hole for the last 3 or 4 years, we are very excited, and proud, to announce that COMET GAIN will be opening up at the London Forum show! My favourite band ever, and originators of Saturday Night Facts of Life (which I am sure some of you know from The Cribs cover version). DO NOT MISS THIS! Make sure you get down early, as we are spoiling you once again with the support bands.

We have also announced some December dates, a short run of 4, but including some of our biggest shows to date. Don't hate us for that though....keep yr ear to the ground for news of supports for December, we have some pretty exciting ideas up our sleeves...

Best regards

Gary Jarman x

Hi everyone,
Just a heads up to let you know that our new single "Cheat On Me" gets its first ever play tonight on Zane Lowe's show. We have put a lot of hard work into the new record these past 12 months and we are really proud of the record we have made. Makes it all worth while reading all messages from the free track we leaked earlier this week (Yes free! , but you gotta pay for the next one to support Wichita (our INDEPENDENT label)). Its great to see all you guys come out of the wood work after the time we have been away.
Anyways, that is all. Look forward to you guys hearing it.

Will see you in a town near you soon.
