Lately, being the channel surfing freak that I am, I have found myself watching this show on cable called Inside the Actors Studio with James Lipton. Keep in mind this show usually comes on late at night, so you do have to wait through the commercials like Tony Little trying to sell you a Gazelle or the overly caffeine up kid trying to sell you a SHAMWOW! Even through the over the top commercials, the reason I keep watching the Actor's studio is not for the show itself but just the last 5 minutes. The show itself is just simply Mr. Lipton interviewing actors or if you want to use the term movie stars you can. Mr. Lipton talks to them about their movies and how they prepared for their roles and its pretty much all business. Until, at the end of the interview he always asked what seems to be 10 silly questions just to end on a light note. But to me this is actually a very heavy thing to end a show like this with! ..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Are you ready for this? The tenth question, the very last of the show, maybe 30 seconds left he asks his guests, "If heaven exists what would you like to hear God say to you when you stand at the pearly gates?"
Now obviously being entertainers many try to be clever in how they answer and some even use the question to let the world know how they feel about God. But on occasion I have heard an answer that has made me think or even scratch my head. So, I would get out my little notebook that I write stuff in and I wrote the answers to the question from some of today's popular actors.
Since I ranted yesterday about how America looks to these people for guidance and direction I thought we could look and see what some of them thought about our creator.
Clint Eastwood wanted to hear God say, "Welcome, come on in you are going to stay forever."
So, if there could have been a next question then it should be, Mr. Eastwood, "Do you know Jesus?"
Robert Redford wanted to hear, "Your too early."
Matt Damon wanted God to say, "You know all that suffering that you saw down there, well, there was a reason for it, come on in and I will explain it to you."
Kevin Costner says he wants to hear God say, "All the people you love and all your family are here, come on in."
I think Kevin has hit an emotional button for all of us with this answer. All the people we know and that we love, of course we want to spend eternity in heaven with them. So, the question is "What am I doing to help them get there?"
Julianne Moore the actress wants to hear God say, "You were wrong I do exist!"
Now, I am definitely not an actor, but Mr. Lipton I want to hear God say the to me the six words from Matthew 25:21/ "Well done Good and Faithful Servant!"
