Pouring rain and cold outside.... of course I have been meaning to write for some time now but, with the daily winter chores and the music workload I never seem to find the time....
But with the rain comes a reprieve, there is no dog to walk until later,so the fire is lit and I am here....... ready for another story?

We arrived late afternoon, the weather was beautiful and after the chaos of Yangon airport it felt wonderful to sit back in the taxi and take in some of this new world....
Soon we arrived at our "Guesthouse" greeted with a smile and a cool drink, I could hardly believe we had finally made it, but we still had another flight to get before we would reach where we needed to be.
The evening came fast and as I looked out of the window gazing over this mysterious, beautiful, but now quite delapidated  city, the glow of light before the sun went down revealed it's rich beauty.
We decided to venture out that night to explore the streets of Yangon and find somewhere local to eat, so armed with a torch and guide book we hit the streets.
The early evening buzz was amazing and surreal at the same time, dimly lit streets full of people, the only source of light coming from the street stalls equipped with florescent lights or lanterns, wonderful smells hanging in the air and the gentle sound of old cars and buses rumbling around the quiet streets. After wandering for about 20 minutes we came across a street with food stalls and tables set up along the wide sidewalk where families were enjoying all manner of local snacks, soups, curries, rice dishes and of course tea ..... popular all over India and Myanmar! We sat at one of the little wooden tables and decided on the traditional "Shan noodle soup" as it seemed to be a popular dish.
Arriving back at the hotel, we decided to sit outside in the warm night air, have a beer and reflect on our surroundings, and it occurred to me that something "Aung San Suu Kyi" had written in her book  "Letters from Burma" summed up the beauty and spirit of this wonderful place .....

"As the sun begins to go down the sky lights up in orange hues. The Burmese refer to this hour as the time of blazing clouds and also as the time when the ugly turn beautiful because the golden light casts a flattering glow on most complexions."

Today, we have gail force winds and rain here in Portugal and as I return from walking my little man (my dog, simon), soaked to the skin , but feeling full of the pleasures of nature, my mind wanders to the beautiful and amazing crazy trip I have just returned from......
Myanmar, where I went to shoot my first video, some would say a strange place to go, but nonetheless it was an adventure just getting there!
It was 4pm in the afternoon when  we arrived in Bangkok and amazingly, slightly chilly. We had just taken 3 flights and travelled for a total of 24 hours flying via London and Abu Dhabi, waiting in airports, getting off planes ...getting on planes changing airports....getting on planes...and ,  so not feeling too full of energy as we proceed to the hotel.
The Atlanta is a strange and  eccentric little hotel run by Mr Roger lePhoque  who is a fantastic character and a charming and helpful ' old school ' english ex-pat.. The Hotel was  built in the early 1950's and was one of the first modern hotels in Bangkok , the Thai king who who was a jazz fanatic used to visit regularly to dine and watch some of the Jazz greats such as Louie Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald who in it's heyday had played at the hotel......
There is lots of wonderful paraphernalia in the lobby from all the different guests who have stayed at the hotel, cabinets full of books and other travel guides by the writers who have spent time there whilst on their travels, and all the while  early jazz  hails from the restaurant speakers which just adds to the whole atmosphere!
As we were fading fast and had to wait for help with the bags we decided to head for the pool and enjoy a cold thai beer!
A wonderful thai meal followed in the restaurant which was served by "Loi",with her  dead pan expression that was only broken when she surprised you  by cracking a smile every now and again ....and telling you how to eat your  Thai dishes ' correctly'.... she was in fact a real sweetie and has been working at the hotel for 30 years... and is really considered ' family' by the owners.....as are most of the staff.
After dinner ...and with jet-lag catching up with me...it was time to sleep so I retired to my room only to find myself wide awake at 1a.m...and not knowing what to do , I headed down to the lobby in search of the computer,  after 5 attempts of logging into myspace it finally happened.... I was connected ....and so pleased to find all the lovely comments and well wishes for my journey... "Thank you so much "
I even managed to talk to a few people who were online at the same time,  so the hours passed and soon it was 3.30 a.m,and time to head  upstairs as the coming day we would have to brave the Myanmar embassy.....to arrange visas..

Coming soon Myanmar, "Dr No" and the video shoot!!!!!

Just recently I had the pleasure of meeting Olivier Doria who is a descendant of one of the oldest Italian families and who works as an investment Banker in Rome. He is an extremely charming and funny man who embraces life with the passion of a human being who believes there is no time to waste in the short time we have on this earth!
We sat drinking Retsina in a little greek restaurant in Notting hill gate , talking about life, the music industry and of course the world of 'myspace', where he had come across my music. By a strange coincidence we had a mutual acquaintance in the music business who introduced us and I will now be playing at his party on the summer solstice on June 21st in Rome.
My band is very excited about travelling to Italy, where we will be his guests for the weekend playing at the party alongside the other groups he has booked from France, England and Italy.
It should be a fun evening because he is throwing the party as a launch for a new company and for one of his oldest friends, Pierre Baldi who was one of the founders of google site engines.
Olivier is hoping to have the event filmed and so in the coming weeks when my website is online ,I hope I will be able to share the evening with all of you....
Rome here I come!!!!!!

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for the love and support.... it's been overwhelming!!!!!! muito, muito Obrigado! ( big,big Thank you!)

I have been living in Portugal in the hills for the last few years looking for peace and looking at life from a different perspective, playing my music and living close to the earth.
I had no need for a phoneline or computer, I always managed with a mobile until about a year ago when I was given a computer by a friend who said my life would change....... and it has!!!
I would like to thank the lovely Mr Leo T who set up my myspace page for me and my good friend Jeff Barrett (Heavenly records) who has always helped me to find my way on my musical journey!
Music has always been my love and passion and recently it's been like living two separate lives, a lot has happened since I joined the Space!
I finally recorded my EP in London and will go back in a couple of weeks to mix it, hopefully ready for release at the end of July along with my website which is being designed by Alan Beukers who took everyones favorite picture
on my page... "Beautiful" and a real talent I hope you will like it!
I have been lucky enough to meet a few companies because of myspace and we are presently talking about a deal, also about to sign with my first promoter so there's alot to look forward to this year.... fingers X maybe dreams can come true!!!!!
Thank you again for all the comments, love and support for without you the dream would not be!
