Well, we've been locked up in the studio just about every night now for the past 3 weeks and somewhere between watching Kenny vs. Spenny, eating Pop-Tarts and late night Michael Bolton and Thriller jam outs we've almost finished the new EP!  We had a little bit of time to sit on the pre-pro and narrow it down to what we think are the best 6 songs (luckily for you they happen to be all brand new ones!) and we're nearing the completion of tracking as we speak.

Drums are done, guitars are done, bass is done and vocals are almost all done... so basically we've got harmonies, keys, percussion and few more solo's to lay done and that'll be that!  We're all super excited to get these songs out and are workin our asses of to get 'em finshed up before X-mas so they can be sent out immediately in the New Year for mixing and mastering (more details on all that fun stuff soon).

Anyway, that's all for now... but check back soon for tons of new info and goodies for your listening and viewing pleasure!

Merry Christmas

P.S.  Ohh and if you just can't wait, take a gander at this very kind review we got from the Toronto Examiner! http://www.examiner.com/x-19981-Canadian-Music-Examiner~y2009m10d20-Gentleman-Husbands-redefining-the-sound-of-Canadian-rock-music

Hello all, just wanted to write up a quick little update on what's going on in the world of Gentlemen Husbands... Basically we just played our last 2 shows of '09 with the one and only Arkells + The Novaks on Wednesday and Attack in Black on Friday and couldn't have asked for a better way to cap off an already amazing year!

Right now we are in the studio with our long time friend Adam Newcomb doing pre-pro for the new EP. It's going swimmingly so far and we've got about 12 new tunes laid down, but now have the increasingly painful task of narrowing it down to the best 6.  Anyway, we'll be posting studio blogs up on our myspace if you wanna keep up to date and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year!!!

Well it's a little bit late now, but for those of you who haven't already noticed... we have a brand new layout up thanks to our good friends James Fox and Nate Brown!  More importantly however, is the fact that by clicking the album cover at the top of the page you can download all 4 of our new songs completely FREE!!! So please take full advantage of that and tell all your friends (even the non-myspacers) to do the same!

Hope to see everyone out on the road this fall before we lock our selves up in the early winter to record what will be our debut record as a 4 piece!

Compaction Girl

Its feet versus legs, versus heart versus head,
Its a rock and roll man livin life up on a band stand
Its a post office worker livin life chained to a bed post,
and a swamper man tie 'n loads in the swamps of the suburban holes

Shes a sky scraper raper
Piles and piles of old man money and clothes
Shes just a little compaction girl
hailin in comparison to last nights girl

Well im swingin hammer and Im bracin the wall,
Its my life or its this life so I'm learnin what I can
ahh, momma im on.
Its feet versus legs, versus heart versus head
A rock n roll man livin life up on a band stand

Shes a sky scraper raper
Piles and piles of old man money and clothes
Shes just a little compaction girl,
Hailin in comparison to last nights girl

Lizzy if it means anything at all
Im always rollin 'round wonderin' where you are
When Im wakin' up broke and my legs are sore

Cruise Control

I got infinite ambition and an infinite excuse
I traded in my music machine to hear tinsel and saw dust
well I need a dance lesson and a new pair of boots
ever since I stopped stompin' I've been workin my sole,
Honey don't you feel like it 's you that's grindin me down

Well it's the cruise control commute
from yard to lot and dock to dock
it's the cruise control commute
from yard to lot and dock to dock
Ya it's the cruise control commute

She's got a house full of children and an 8 karat ring
she's plannin' on tradin it all, for whatever she can get
Ya she's got a house full a children and an 8 karat ring
and she's plannin on tradin it all...
ohh honey don't you feel likes it you that's grindin me down

Well it's the cruise control commute
from yard to lot and dock to dock
it's the cruise control commute
from yard to lot and dock to dock
Ya it's the cruise control commute

Well thank you, I mean,
for everything, and if its any less
from you or me,
you can get Gord Downie to sing my eulogy

The cruise control commute
from yard to lot, and dock to dock
its the cruise control commute
from yard to lot, and dock to dock
Yeah its the cruise control commute
Thats grindin' me down

This ain't the way that its supposed to be,
I've been patchin holes for a lifetime
This kids got it worse than I thought
He's got me slipped in here but I ain't gonna get caught

Plans B&E

This ain't the way that its supposed to be,
I've been patchin holes for a lifetime
This kids got it worse than I thought
He's got me slipped in here but I ain't gonna get caught

This ain't the way that its supposed to be
He's been kickin doors down to get high.
Get stoned, trade places with the road
Wake up in the rust and you're full of potholes.

I'm in the black
Consider it a loan paid back
I ain't no outlaw
I ain't got nothin'
I'm not gonna be…
So who's gonna be the getaway driver

You find it, you buy it, you hide it, you use it up
A whole bag of writin wasted on a holiday
This ain't the way that it's supposed to be,
Middle aged men on the phone accusing me

This ain't the way that its supposed to be
He's been kickin doors down to get high
Get stoned trade places with the road
Wake up in the rust and you're full of potholes.

I'm in the black
Consider it a loan paid back
I ain't no outlaw
I ain't got nothin'
I'm not gonna be…
So who's gonna be the getaway driver

Danny Regan

I was livin in the underground
In the bottom of downtown
I ain't comin home
I was born underground in the very bottom,
The bottom of down town,
I ain't comin home

He said "you've got the wrong man"
He slapped that heavy black book
In his soft left hand and said
"You've got the wrong man."

Every home is a stone home,
I'm on icy roads, I got coffee and smokes
I've got Blue Rodeo
Every home is a stone home,
I'm on icy roads, I've got coffee and smokes
I've got Blue Rodeo

He said "You've got the wrong man, son.
I'm the one with the book in my hand"
He said "you've got the wrong man"
He slapped that heavy black book
In his soft left hand and said
"You've got the wrong man."

Every home is a stone home,
I'm on icy roads, I got coffee and smokes
I've got Blue Rodeo
Every home is a stone home,
I'm on icy roads, I've got coffee and smokes
I've got Blue Rodeo

Burnin' Gold

Tonight I'm gonna burn all the gold
That keeps me away from home
I'm gonna sit right down and think of somewhere longer
Sit right there and think of somebody stronger

Not sleepin through the sunrise
In the back seat of a Sunbird
What if love was your first word,
Do you think you'd still get hurt?

I cried a tiny ocean but my boat is still floatin.

I put in 40 hours and still make it to the church
I work work, if it ain't for me its for her
You can tell 'em all I ran too tight a ship
And I won't forget to do my "Friday 52"

Now you're wakin up with the sunrise
In the parkin lot of a high rise
What if you never make up your mind?
Do you think you'd be alright?

We cried a tiny ocean but our boats are still floatin

You can recommend my band
When you're drivin through Alabama
And them good ol' boys need some frog giggin' tunes

Tapanga

With your bottom lip,
Adhering to its partner
Adjacent to your shoulder
And your eyes screamin

In silent shudders
I'll return a  look of boredom
And think to myself
You're not as cute as you once were

Oh how rude am I
To have lied to you and to myself
I cannot apologize to you
Any more than to me

So you get  you're work done
And Ill lay restless for hours upon others
And think to myself
You're not quite as cute as you were.

Oh How rude am I
To have lied to you and to myself
I cannot apologize to you
Anymore than to me

So you get your work done
And I'll lay restless for hours upon others
And think to myself
You ain't quite as cute as you were

Well, as I'm sure you've all already noticed we've got 3, what would seem to be, brand new songs up.  In reality they're from I think November/December and we finally started tracking them in Febuary and just got them finished a week ago!  Since the New Year we have been working our asses off in just about every way imaginable and written basically a whole new set worth of material... but only keeping the best of the best.  That said we've got a bunch of even newer songs in our set now (which you'll have to come see us live to hear) buuuut figured we wanted the interweb to get a taste of them too. So,  we're heading back into the studio in about three weeks to track 2 even newer songs that will be part of a FREE 5 song demo for your listening pleasure!

Anyway, big thanks goes out to Mr. Adam Newcomb for continuing to be the greatest engineer going and keeping our 5 year relationship as passionate as ever haha!  Also huuuuge thanks to his lovely Fiancee, Gina Rocca, for laying down those soulful harmonies annnnnd Mr. Jason Martin down in L.A. for doing such an amazing job mixing and mastering these tracks!

That is all for now

Well, it took a little longer than expected (as everything seems to do), but we are finally finished tracking everything for our new 3 song demo!  Now, we're just waiting on some editing and shes off to California to be mixed by Jason Martin (Cold War Kids, Page France) which we couldn't be more excited about!  Theeeeen back up to Toronto for mastering by the great Noah Mintz (Stars, Metric, Hayden, Fiest...anyone good you can think off) and  the plan is to have 'er up and out in April for free download and free at shows... so feel free to take advantage of that.  I know we've been ranting and raving about how much different and better things are as a 4 peice, so now you're finally gonna get a chance to hear it and be be the judge for yourself!
