DANCER/SINGERS – Ongoing Auditions for New York's Electro-Pop Sensation "Basic Black & the Off-Whites"

WHO WE ARE:
We are a diverse "ensemble group" of performers based our of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, each with our own unique style and talents, and we encourage all types, shapes, sizes, colors, orientations, gender, spirits, ethnicities, race,…. You get the picture. As we are an evolving group, the one constant has been our founder, Basic Black, who is the main lead of the group. We are finishing our first album for the summer and have many upcoming dates booked, so time is of the essence. Some pay is involved, but depends on venue.

WHAT WE WANT:
We are looking for dancer/singers (21+, as back-up performers first). In the future, others in the group will be featured as well, but for now, all our original songs are being headed by Basic Black, and everyone else has back-up parts. All styles encouraged. Professional Dancing/Singing training & experience is great but not required, professionalism IS. Queer-friendly is a MUST, no exceptions will be tolerated.

Come prepared with a song/dance number that best represents your style. Original music is fantastic but is not required. BRING CD!! Acapella is ok, if you really don't have a CD, but still bring a song to dance to. Freestyle dancing is fine, choreography in not necessary. Bring a headshot and resume if you have one.

It would be helpful for you to go to our myspace page www.myspace.com/basicblackandtheoffwhites to familiarize yourself with our current music and bio. (There might be a test, ha ha,.. ☺)

WHEN:
Please contact us ASAP to arrange an audition. Callbacks to be announced as needed. Location will be disclosed when you contact us at BasicBlackEmail@gmail.com. Please respond with your contact information and a headshot & resume if you have them available.

Your Step-Mama here EmCee'd THE PEEP SHOW at Galapagos in Williamsburg last night and it was a most remarkable experience.

THE PEEP SHOW a mini ELECTRO-POP festival, was put together by CHARLIE as a venue to premier his new single, How To Be a Boy. Great song!
What a beautiful soulful voice.

The Line up was outstanding - lots of hot new Queer talent that everyone should keep an eye on.

The hottie TRISTAN MAYFIELD had his NEW YORK club debut with his sassy/sexy song DON'T STOP.

DEVON PERRY of the GUNK FACTORY, who produced and/or contributed to most of the artists who performed last night, also performed some of his own recordings.  One of the stand-outs from his set was AS I AM featuring spine tingling/incredible vocals by TaMonsta (also one of BASIC BLACK's OFF-WHITES).

MICHAEL HENSLEY performed songs from his new record FIRE BELOW ME. THIS MACHINE (available on EP with 5 hot re-mixes) had me tearing up the dance floor!  My favorite song off the new album is TAKE ME AWAY, which there is also an amazing re-mix of on the album.

AND of course BASIC BLACK (me) and the OFF-WHITES ( the sexy KC'ARL and the vocal diva TaMONSTA) performed 3 of our latest tracks, BOYS AND GIRLS (always a croud pleaser), TOUCH ME (I'M ALL YOURS) and (my favorite) KISSING IN THE DARK).

DON PEAVY (who's music didn't make it to the venue) did an imprompto, acapela performance of his song I LIKE PORN with the help of a few of the other performers.

The show was opened by INNANA LEFEY who wowed the crowd with her traditional and non traditional Belly Dancing and the always supportive and very talented in his own right HANK STAR was there and (accidentaly) video'd part of  my performance.  You can see the clip on YouTube or here in the "Comments" section on my Myspace page.

It was an honor and delight to introduce these fabulous performers and to be a part of the show.
