So yesterday we shot a video for our yet unrealesed song BBQ... With the help of Gabe Rosenn and some of our amazing friends we guarantee that when this video comes out you will have never seen anything like it.
There were girls in a pool of mashed potatoes (a kiddy pool but what do you care), a meat fight/dance off, vegatables, tons of booze and drugs... Really what more could one ask for on a quiet summer day in little ol' Brooklyn.
The BBQ music video should be out in about a month.
Also be sure to get up with us at facebook.com/thevolunteers where we will shortly have pictures up and everyone can see what they did during an alcohol induced day of debauchery.
Peace -Volunteers

we made it all the way to austin texas...found ourselves
in portland, LA, san diego, vegas, colorado, etc...we played dozens of shows and we drove thousands of miles, as much as 10 hours a day to play our music.
Sometimes we played to large crowds, sometimes we played to almost nobody. We suffered injuries, exhaustion, financial despair, and gross lack of privacy and
comfort...we laughed, we cried, we hurled...(seriously).
it was our first national tour and we pulled it off with
the grace of a drunken swan....
special thanks to everyone who let us stay at their place, gave us some food, got us some weed, or did anything else that was helpful. we met so many great people on this tour.
we wanted to do something special to celebrate our return home to NYC, what better than a free show at Rockwood Music Hall, an intimate Lower East Side venue, that is known for its great sound and its cozy atmosphere. The venue lends itself to the acoustic vibe...so this show will feature some acoustic instrumentation, as well as some different arrangements to some of your favorite Volunteers songs, yet we will keep the energy high and tear it up at 11pm!
Rockwood Music Hall is located at 196 Allen Street, NYC 10002.
feel free to bring some friends and party it up with us!

more than halfway into our tour, we are approaching fresno california for a show tonite before making our way to LA, san diego, texas and than finally home after approximately 30 shows over the course of a month.
we are constantly in motion, we share food, stories, advice, we argue, laugh, smoke weed, and write, practice and play music every day. this is our first extended tour and the band is so much tighter as friends and musicians. we know this will continue to grow with more tour and more motion.
in the van we have some recording equipment and we are working on our third album in the van. it is exciting to embrace the latest technology which makes it possible for us to edit and record music while we move towards the next town. everyone in the band is involved in the process and the van itself has become a mini recording studio.
we spend our time watching bad movies with the occasional good flick stumbled upon such as steve martin, helena bonham carter, and laura dern in novocaine.
we are relying a lot on the kindness of strangers who take us in after our shows in various towns and offer us their floor. sometimes we get lucky and wake up to the smells of a breakfast cooking. on the nights that we dont have a place to stay, we have been camping! we are on the west coast with lots of beautiful national parks.
we were camping in oregon yesterday and our drummer paul fell and injured himself. luckily we had the day off so we had the time to take him to the hospital and get stitched and medicated without cancelling any shows.
we have had quite a journey so far, from our kick ass shows opening the tour in DC< Baltimore, Cleveland....to our amazing reception in Colorado....we still have LA and Austin to go which are looking to be pretty sweet shows.
all of us are having such a great time on this tour, we all agree that we want to tour as much as possible in the forseable future. if you like our music please tell your friends and come see our next show in your town.

Hello Volunteers, In case you weren't paying attention, our song Vampire Joe was used on MTV's Real World Brooklyn episode 9. Its a weird season of RW as all of the members in the house seem to have social issues. For example one is a trans-sexual... One of the members is an Iraq War Veteran, and he came out to see us at a Iraq Veterans Against the War benefit concert at Sullivan Hall in NYC. You should check out IVAW.org as its a really good cause. See ya soon at SXSW!
