Stand up

Lyrics By : C.Anderson

After all these years
I look around
And I see
Everyone's still afraid
Of Talking about
The AIDS disease

Chorus

I'm calling on you
Stand up
Take action be counted
Stand up
Talk to your brothers
Talk to your sisters
Every body please
Stand up

Hiding from the truth
Denying it all
Isn't gonna stop
People from dying
No not all

Chorus Repeat

Bridge

Im telling you
In the end
Don't deny
Whats true
The truth
Always find you
Stand up!

Chorus Repeat 3x

There is nothing scarier than a blank page. When i get the notepad out and i start to write a song..it can be an intimidating experience. Dont get me wrong i love communicating my thoughts and writing about the things that are going on in my life.i love the collaborative process..i usually have a collaborator..i guess hes unavailable or something..oh well such is life..I dont get it..i can usually write 20 compositions in the span of a month..whats blocking me? .thanks for listening

Firstly  yes this is another Jody Watley -related post  because she is at the top of my friends list.. The reason why she is at the top is because  she is everything i strive to be as an artist...honest, earnest and forthright ..Jody watley was in chicago to perform at the Gay Games and to do an in store Performance at the virgin mega store ..Along the way she did a radio stop at V103,an urban station for promotional purposes ...before they went to air.Miss watley was told to not mention her performance at the then upcoming gay games.I applaud Miss watley for shedding light on  homophobia that takes place on urban radio....Jody watley's next project will be a dj inspired cover record called The Makeover Which is said to include re-interpretations of her classics...and covers of her favorite songs  New material will be on the set to  round out the collection  If u go to Giantstep.net U can hear 3 songs..including the 4hero collaboration "Bed of Roses..which is a topical drum n bass song  discussing the state of the world. Stellar work..It will be available august 8th at Virgin Megastores Amazon.com and Itunes.Miss Watley, my hero doing it her way.

peace,

chris

It will be 27 years tomarrow  the world mourned the death of minnie ripperto the occaision inspired me to write  a little about  what minnies life and artistry meant to me in todays culture..I discovered minnie ripperton through this wonderful supergroup 4hero who covered the songbirds "Les fleurs " on their 2001 release "creating patterns" with the lovely carina on lead vocals ...being on the net..and having the access to so much information i immediately went to find out..more about her life...Reading about her life and death and her activism really inspired me..I love that her music had such a strong and monumental point of view...

I as well have heard the comparisons  between mariah and minnie  ripperton  while Mariah carey has enjoyed massive success and is immensely talented ,unlike ripperton I think her music stops short of having  a relevant point of view .

Being a songwriter myself i find that i too dance the line between having a good time and having a point of view..Every so often  i have to take time out just to remember just why it is i wanna make music...minnies songs ,4heros music help me to do just that...we love you and we miss you minnie!...

peace and blessings,

chris

Yesterday jody watley released what could be deemed her 1st single from "The Makeover".A really stark but sublime cover of madonnas borderline..Miss watley takes this song in a new direction.while simultaneously staying true to the keyboard progressions of the original.Madonnas version while a classic makes you forget about the heartbroken lyrics..Watleys version puts to heart those lyrics youve missed out on before and allows you to feel the heartbreak of the song...I encourage all of you young and old to stop by Itunes make that purchase and check it out!...Lending my support to a woman whose talent is often missed out on because of the mainstream media circus

Kudos Miss watley

My first Tune  is Jody Watley "Midnight Lounge" Its available on the Album with the same name  Produced by Rodney Lee...Jody Watley has long been one of my idols...Formerly of Shalamar...she set out on her own to become an international superstar and Grammy Award winning artist...Never one to succomb to fads or become complacent.in a youth driven music industry..she has taken control of her artistry and has been releasing her own music on her label avitone records.Midnight Lounge finds Jody watley fearlessly embracing deeply ambient and progressive house music. I love the ambient tone this record sets...Please open your Mind Heart and ears and Pick up Midnight Lounge...Keep your eyes and ears set on her as she releases  The Make over In '06
