I have stopped operating under the name Down the Tiny Steps and will now be using my real name : Jonnie Common.

Why?

Well, lots of reasons but mainly because Craig, Chuck and I decided we wanted different things. So, sadly that was the end of the power trio, and though I started DTTS on my own, I never really felt alone til now.

I don’t want to be called Down the Tiny Steps. I just want to be myself.

All that really needs to be said is a huge THANK YOU to everyone who played under or flew the DTTS flag.

I love you all more than you know.

(And will continue to do so whether you like it or not.)

So, yeah.

Ps. come see me play at Trampoline (Wee Red Bar, Edinburgh) on August 8th.
It’ll be a kindof bespoke set in lieu of me deciding how I want to function live now. I am nervous, but looking forward to it. My pal, Iona Marshall will be joining me for a song.

Down The Tiny Steps – Live @ Red Deer Club 2008

from the hairy mouth of Dunc Le Chunk / Red Deer Club:

"To celebrate our fifteenth release, there doesn't seem to be such a perfect time as this one. A document of what both label and band have achieved over the past three years, Red Deer Club proudly present 'Down The Tiny Steps – Live….

Beginning our output with live compilations from the club, this is the first full live album from the label, a match made in heaven! Having played more times than anybody else at the regular night, it was inevitable that a release was on the cards.

Recorded live at Sounds From The Other City festival (May 2008), the 'last' live outing for the Red Deer Club, the three piece rocked the rafters of Sacred Trinity church with their synth pop sounds

Documented on this stunning limited edition album, both artist and label are very proud of the outcome. Have a listen. You might just want to go back to church."

Vic Galloway played 'Bed Bugs' from our new "demo" on his Introducing show this week (Thursday 7th Aug 2008).

Cheers, Vic!

Much appreciated.

Cheers Tom.

And Liz Kershaw played it on her show a couple weeks back (June7th:12.58pm)

Cheers Liz.

Big Hoots to Matt Cox for the request!

I'm not sure the Red Deer Club track exactly sold our Scottish roots to her but we'll pin that on Dunc's giggle

The new DTTS website is being masterfully crafted as we speak.

Or rather, as you read this.

Perhaps you're reading out loud. That might count as speaking, but one could probably argue otherwise.

Your thoughts, people.

Not mine.

Anyway, it'll be going live (with or without Philip Schofield) on the 8th of August.

Just back from playing at the Red Deer Club c/o Sounds From The Other City festival, Manchester.

Had a bloody marvelous time. Thanks to everyone who came down to see us. You were lovely and made it really enjoyable to play.

As that was to be the last Red Deer Club for the time being while Dunc puts his efforts into the RDC label, we wanted to do something to mark the occassion. And we kindof did.

By way of tribute we started to record a song using samples of a telephone conversation with Dunc (that had been recorded without his knowledge) and although we didn't have enough time to develop it into a full song, the resulting track can be downloaded this week from our page.

We performed this song in part at the gig on sunday, which got a few laughs and drove Dunc out of the room at one point but he's assured me that he loves the track

So here's to the guy that got DTTS their first gig out of Scotland, who has introduced us to the Manchester scene, who welcomed us into his home and who continues to tolerate being wound up by us at every opportunity.

God Bless Dunc Le Chunk!

Special Hoots to LadyMissK for putting us up AND putting up with us!  xxx

I’m way too knackered to write about how amazing Homegame was this year but I have just enough energy to cut and paste this....

Down The Tiny Steps can be proud of the fact that they are the only band this reviewer has yet known to reference the board game Monopoly in a song, something that surely ought to happen much more often. The Glasgow trio – a kind of glitchy electro/folk/hip-hop cross between Hot Chip and the Beta Band – look like decent prospects too, and their closer, Handstand, was an immensely pretty little thing.

Tallah Brash appeared (albeit by phone interview) on Huw Stephens' Introducing England show, Radio One, Wednesday 27th Feb 2008 to plug Edinburgh's alternative radio station Fresh Air.

As we were playing for Fresh Air at Cabaret Voltaire the next night, she got him to play 'Summer Is For Going Places'.

She very kindly bigged us up and Huw seemed to dig it, so thanks Tallah! You're a peach.

You can listen to Huw's show here: (Tallah appears around about 30mins in)

...is called INSPECTOR TAPEHEAD.

Chris & Roy play for Adam Beattie (guitar & drums respectively). Some of you Fence fans may remember him from Homegame 3. Pip Dylan played on his album Abu Bozy.

Now, myself & Roy are playing for Chris.

We recorded a demo at 4th Street Studios last weekend.

You can hear the 3 tracks on the myspace HERE

We played King Tuts last night supporting Los Campesinos.

(Chris went to school with Tom, the guitarist.)

It was pretty cool. The place filled up after our first couple songs and I didn't make any major blunders. Bonus.

I'm really enjoying playing with them. They both have an incredible zest for music and are among the most innovative musicians I know, which excites me no end.

Anyway, I wished to share this all with you and now I have.

So, bye!

I finally got round to creating a myspace for Team Swan.

We've put 'Snow Angel' up as a festive download.

Some of you will remember this song from the 'Plum Duffers' Fencezine CD last year.

This is a different recording. Its the one we couldn't get ready in time for Plum Duffers and that we gave to people as a Christmas card instead.

Now HERE for your listening and downloadable pleasure.

God bless us, everyone
