what a day!! Just got home on this rainy Saturday night (cold day in july?) Today was absolutely nuts. I had a show at Nissan Pavilion's side stage in VA before the Brad Paisley concert. My family and I all drove down to set up around noon. Got there around 2.. it was soo hot and humid- east coast humid, but the forecast called for no rain- they were sure it'd be a sunny day, so we set up, got dressed and started to play. Everything was going well for the first hour and then all of the sudden we see dark clouds coming our way. My Uncle Mike came up to do a few songs with me and just as we started to to finally relax into it, we heard thunder. So long story short, within 10 minutes we were all huddled together under a tent trying to save all of our equipment. It was pouring and water was getting in so we were grabbing anything we could to try to secure it to the tent. Me, my dad, band, and uncle were taking refuge under this little tent with this crazy lightning/rain storm going on right around us. It was quite a moment. I hated it.. but I kinda loved it too lol. I was trying to shield the amps from the rain and unfortunately I was wearing a white dress... and got completely soaked. I could not believe it had happened! We had all worked so hard to make this happen, prepare, and I just felt guilty looking around at all the people that had done so much to help me and here we were, under this tent. hah things had been going so well and then boom! But, we did have a wonderful time. It was so fun to do the show with my band mates, and my Uncle. Just wish me and him could have done a few more songs together. Today wasn't easy for everyone and I just feel so grateful to have such a supportive group of family and friends. Without them I couldn't do any of this...

Show at the 8X10 Tonight!!!
It's been sooooo wonderful being home for this month and I'm excited for the show, but it also means I'm leaving in a few days to go back to school. Wish I could stay longer. But anyhow it's going to be a lot of fun- I'm playing with my best friends from school (who also live in MD- I only hang out with MD people in Boston. ;) and I'm extremely excited to play at the 8X10 b/c I've heard it's awesome.
HOpe you can make it.. SEE U LATER!!

am i really here again? torn would be an understatement. why are decisions so difficult? when does "listening to yourself" turn into being high maintenance? i won't say exactly what about right now, but this is tough. Staying on a certain path or creating my own. There are some things that feel so right and you want so much to follow that, but somehow that assuredness can go just as easy as it came. Woken up in the middle of the night by fear- it's hard to determine which voice I'm paying attention to or responding to. Confusing fear and your true feelings is really easy to do.

lately everywhere i turn someone is talking about how to be happy/content. the consensus is to "aim low" in order to not be disappointed. seems a little silly to me.. but why not have goals.. big crazy goals? although you may not reach that outlandish dream, aiming high will take you further than being "content" would. does that make sense? :) it's so safe to just go along.. definitely less painful.. i guess the perfect balance would be to feel content and grateful for what you have but to always push yourself because you never know how far it will take u.
