Hi, everyone! Sorry I’ve been so quiet lately–I was working on copy-edits for I’LL BE SLAYING YOU. But those are now winging their way to NY, so I can get back to my WIP and chat a bit on the blog.  :-)

I realized that I haven’t posted a book schedule for 2010.  Please keep in mind that this is a tentative schedule, subject to change a wee bit. But, this is currently what I’ve got planned (publication wise) for 2010:

ETERNAL HUNTER–available 01/2010 from Kensington Brava (okay, this one will actually be on store shelves come December 29, 2009, but it’s technically a 2010 release so I thought I’d throw it into the mix).  ETERNAL HUNTER is the first book in my Night Watch series–the series about paranormal bounty hunters.

I’LL BE SLAYING YOU–available 07/2010 from Kensington Brava. This is the second book in my paranormal Night Watch series. I love the heroine–Dee is strong and kick-ass, and the hero, well, Simon is one very dangerous guy.  Isn’t that the best kind of man?  An excerpt will be up very soon!!!

DEADLY FEAR–available 08/2010 from Grand Central Publishing.  DEADLY FEAR is the first book in my “Deadly” trilogy from Grand Central.  This book is straight romantic suspense–no paranormals!  The book focuses on an elite division in the FBI that tracks and apprehends serials (serial killers, arsonists, rapists, kidnappers).  Hopefully, I’ll be able to post the cover soon. Yes, I’ve had a sneak peek.  :-)

BELONG TO THE NIGHT–available 09/2010 from Kensington Brava. This will be the mass market re-release of BELONG TO THE NIGHT (paranormal romance anthology).

THE NAUGHTY LIST (holiday romance anthology), featuring my novella, “All I Want For Christmas”–available 10/2010 from Kensington Brava.  I was very excited to be included in this anthology. Again, non-paranormal, and, hey, even non-serial killer!  Just a fun holiday tale.  (Or, I hope readers think its a fun holiday tale, anyway.)

And last…well, the last book that will be released in 2010 (this one is tentative) is the third book in my Night Watch series.   The title isn’t 100% confirmed yet, so I’ll just call it UNTITLED PARANORMAL ROMANCE.  I know–not sexy.  Don’t worry, the title will be sexy.  This book is slated to be released in December of 2010.  The hero is a demon and the heroine is an Ignitor (fire-starter).  Think hot.

I am about to head out and try to finish the rest of my Christmas shopping.  (Is everyone else done?)  I hope you have a fabulous weekend!!  Thanks for checking out my 2010 schedule!

Today is the official release day for the mass market version of HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT should now be on the shelves of a friendly bookstore near you.

Already read HOTTER? Then maybe you want to give it to someone–a dearly loved friend–as a gift! (What? It’s priced at a thrifty $6.99! Great gift price!)

And if you haven’t read HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT…here’s your chance. This is the first book in the Midnight Trilogy. Come on, it’s cold in December–make your nights HOTTER.

Here’s the blurb for the book:

A SEDUCTIVE NIGHTTIME WORLD

Dr. Emily Drake’s patients tend to be a little unusual. Instead of the typical therapist’s caseload of midlife crises and mother fixations, Emily treats vampires with blood phobias and sex-demons looking for meaningful relationships. But her gift for recognizing and healing the Other—those creatures of the night that most humans don’t even know exist—requires a few house rules. First: Never trust a shifter. Especially not one like Detective Colin Gyth whose gold-flecked eyes and predatory air make Emily realize how much she’s been longing to lose control…

A DARK AND DANGEROUS HUNGER

Colin can’t believe the doctor he’s been assigned to work with on the Night Butcher murder investigation is the one person who could expose his true identity as a wolf shifter. Smart, sexy, and stubborn as hell, Emily brings out the alpha male in Colin, unleashing a wild, heady desire that takes them both over the edge. But in the shadows, the Night Butcher waits…eager to spill Emily’s blood and taste her terror. And he’ll use any means to destroy her, including the one person she has grown to trust…

Do you think you want to write a book?  If so, then this post is for you.  If you don’t want to be a writer, feel free to ignore the words that follow.

If you are dipping your toes in the writing pool–just getting started on the path to your dream, I think there are a few things you should know:

1. You will get rejected.  VERY rarely does someone sell the first story they wrote to the first editor they submit said story to.  Instead, you’ll find this writing road is bumpy. No, not everyone will love your precious story–and it will suck when you find that out.  But if you love the story, if you love the dream, you’ll keep writing anyway.

2. Some people will quote writing “rules” to you (ex. the hero and heroine must meet in the first 5 pages, you can never use semi-colons in a story, red-headed heroes don’t sell…). Remember that rules are made to be broken. I’ve never once had an editor call me out on any of the so-called rules.

3. Some people will write faster than you. Some will write slower. Some will sell their stories faster. Some will sell slower. You know what? it doesn’t matter what those people do. Focus on yourself and you’ll be just fine.

4. Don’t think that all you have to do is write a great story.  Promotion will soon account for a vast portion of your time–whether you are mailing PR packets, chatting online, attending conferences…Writing is just the beginning.

5. You will meet some absolutely amazing people on your way to publication.  My writer
friends are fantastic…and when it comes to readers…seriously, the emails I’ve gotten have made me so happy.  Writing can introduce you to some wonderful people–enjoy them.

6.  Never think that you know everything about the industry.  This industry changes. New trends emerge. Publishing houses shift their focus.  Be ready for anything.

7. Don’t be afraid to take chances.  Try to stretch yourself and try something new with your writing.  You never know where that new-ness will take you!

Anyone else have advice to offer?

It's release day!!!

BELONG TO THE NIGHT is available now!  That means you can buy this book at your favorite bookstore or online book retailer.  Yay!

Here is the back cover blurb for this anthology:

"The Wolf, The Witch, and Her Lack of Wardrobe" by Shelly Laurenston:
Jamie Meacham has enough trouble controlling her supernatural abilities. There's no time for lust, or for Tully Smith, even with his smoldering amber eyes. But Tully's grappling with his own animal instincts as a powerful shifter-wolf, trying to protect all his territory-including a certain sassy witch-from vicious rivals.

"In the Dark" by Cynthia Eden:

FBI agent and leopard shifter Sadie James' undead ex, Liam, still arouses her deepest desires, distracting her from tracking the brutal rogue shifter who is terrorizing Miami. By teaming up with Liam, Sadie has a better chance of solving the case, but as passion consumes them, she stands to lose more than just her heart.

"City of the Dead" by Sherrill Quinn:

Dori Falcon is a witch with a plan: get to New Orleans, locate her missing brother, and recover the Eye of Bastet, a mysterious and powerful amulet. Her plan never included falling for sexy Cajun copy Jake Boudreau; but without his help, she may never find the demon who has her brother, and the key to her family's survival.

I had a great time writing this novella.  My hero was a vamp, the heroine was his very pissed off (and extremely powerful) ex-lover. Oh, just fun.  I sure hope readers enjoy the story, too! I hope readers enjoy all of the stories in this anthology. Shelly and Sherrill are fabulous authors, and I was thrilled to be included in the anthology with them.

Today is the official release day for MIDNIGHT'S MASTER, the third book in my Midnight trilogy. This book focuses on the dark demon Niol--and the woman who may just be strong enough to face the monster inside of him.

Here's the backcover blurb:

In a world of shadows, desire conquers all...

In this sexy, gripping novel, Cynthia Eden draws readers deeper into the realm of the Others--vampires, shifters, and sinfully attractive demons whose powers are matched only by their dark hungers...

Tall, dark, and formidable, Niol Lapen is the last demon on earth most people would ask for a favor, yet the sexy little reporter who wanders into his club dares to do exactly that. Holly Storm already knows too much about his kind, and Niol has no wish to help her get in deeper over her head. But working alongside her may be the only way to stop a killer, even as it ignites a primal desire unlike anything he's known.

Holly has seen firsthand what Niol is capable of, but that doesn't frighten her nearly as much as her body's instinctive reaction to him, or the wild, fierce passion that would tempt her to follow him through hell itself. Something evil and relentless is prowling the streets of Atlanta. And as Holly's search leads her into danger that even Niol could never have predicted, she'll uncover a secret that could rip her world apart....
