Hello Dear People Who May On Occasion Enjoy Our Music(s):
Its seems that around this time of the year, we in Naked Gods really start to get our act together and actually accomplish things which are, for the most part, music related. A year ago, we were about a month into recording "Welcome Home," which, for any of you who don't know, would be the title of our first full length record album. Since then, a lot has and hasn't happened, but we now find ourselves occupied with a ton of fun and positively positive projects that I figured I'd let you know about.
First of all, after literally months of racking our brains, we've got some new songs on the way. The two which are near completion, provincially titled "Cody" and "Citrus Friends," are/have undergone weeks of work, some arguing, and a whole lot of tweaking, and we think they're pretty interesting and intricate tunes; musically, lyrically, and, in terms of arrangement, quite new for us. There are also a few song fragments and ideas floating about, and who can say what form they will take? I hope that we just shoot for honest and interesting, and that the rest will take care of itself.
All of these new songs will end up on an E.P. that we plan on releasing before the end of the year. The goal is to write and record five songs and put them out, to capture who we are and where we're at after our first album, this being a sort of time for transitions.
Speaking of "Welcome Home," the vinyl will be out soon, we promise. Any of you who know us are free to interpret what we mean by "soon."
There is also another recording project in the works, but I think I'll just let that be a secret for a while...
Finally, we have a lot of dates this month, and guess what? They are all OUT OF BOONE! So, friends living in diaspora, and all of you new ones that we are itching to meet, come on out...The dates for June are as follows:
June 11: Slim's Downtown, Raleigh, NC with DES ARK!!!! We are super ultra uber excited about this one, it goes without saying. June 12: Broad St. Cafe, Durham, NC with the Dry Heathens, the Dirty Little Heaters, and Rat Jackson. June 20: Tasty World, Athens, GA with Richard Sherfey & All God's Children, Mike Dunn and the Kings of New England June 26: The World Famous Milestone with Marah and Foxchase. The Milestone is simply the best. (.) AND, there might even be a show that I'm leaving out, but if I knew for sure, it wouldn't be left out, so there you have it.
Finally, our van, Eddie, will be fully operational (for the time being) by this week's end. This means five idiots driving around and laughing incessantly. I, for one, cannot wait.
OK, the whole family is happy and healthy, making music and staying positive, and generally enjoying each other's company and friendship. We hope that whatever you do, its full of joy and meaning for you and those around you. See/ hear you this summer?
xoxoNakedGods(via Christian).

Current mood: stalked
Seasons greetings to one and all!
A big heartfelt thanks from all of us to all of you for the overwhelming response to our cd. We truly love you all and wouldn't be able to function without you.
That said, we're trying to finally... after two years... discover life outside Boone. No, we're not leaving (although our house may be knocked down at any moment), only trying to play some shows outside of our little town.
So here's our favor. We're trying to get any and all shows outside of town. Weekends work best, but any day could work. We're especially trying to set something up along the eastern seaboard 3/5 - 3/15 (and then hopefully Japan in July).
If any of you live in different towns and could help in any way (whether it being setting something up, giving us some contacts to call, suggest local bands to get in touch with, etc) let us know. And, if any of you are in bands and would like to trade some shows, please let us know. Either send us a message here, write us at nkdgods@yahoo.com, or send a message on Christian's facebook (seriously he checks it every 15 min).
Yours truly,
Naked Gods

Dear Diary: Well, to say that the "Welcome Home" release show was magical and amazing and relieving and gratifying and mortifying and humbling doesn't even begin to really describe what a great night it was for us, and we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who came, who stood outside in the snow, who listened to all the bands, and contributed to making that night so special for Naked Gods, Poplar Groove, Karloffs, Djangokill, and everyone involved. We also want to thank the Saloon for having us, and being supportive and awesome. Cheers. That was definitely the best audience we've ever played for, and we really hope you all had loads of fun and got really drunk and lost your voices and all that jazz.
OK.
So, about our album....If you live in Boone and want to buy a copy, you can pick them up at Green Eggs and Jam, Espresso News, Fat Cat's Music and Video, and soon, at the Boone Saloon. If you live out of town, go visit www.djangokillrecords.com. It is the website of the new label we are on, and you should be able to order and pay through paypal for the album there. Go check it out!
We really hope you like the album, and want to thank everybody who has given us some kind of responce to it, whatever the reaction may be...
Coming up in the near future, we have a gig on Reading Day Eve (Tuesday, December 9) with Banana de Terra at the Dragonfly Theater. It's an 18 and up show, which is really exciting...so all you youngens better come on out...we'll be posting the Appalcart routes and what not ASAP, so no confusion and no excuses. Then it looks like some out o' town shows in January, and some kind of east coast jaunt in March...that is, if we can get our shit together, which has always seemed questionable, but hey, we're doing alright this week!
So, as for us: Hutelmyer is sharpening pencils for the School system, getting a head start for all those slacker kids who will, inevitably, not bring a 2 pencil to class...BK is trying desperately to shake off his David Lazer persona, especially before seeing his parents...Christian is wondering why so many boys dressed as girls want to jump onstage and make out with him...Seth is researching dinner wines...Wildcat is unhappy with his tennants, and says "hands off those tools!"...Taylor is asleep in the green room, trying to get well, dreaming about it, being about it...Ben is really happy that he caught Seth's guitar at the show, and as such, did not have his throat slit...Eric is "have you got an album yet...have you...have you...come on...that's what I thought"... Travis and Jenna are really busy being awesome and baking casaroles.
So, the family is well and meandering towards the overly positive side....who knows what the future will bring!?!

Greetings friends! We hope that November finds you all doing well, excited about the future, thinking positive thoughts, and breaking out fabulous sweaters for the impending winter months. Its hard to believe that the year is almost over...so much has happened in the past eleven months that it is all a bit overwhelming. Seriously, Seth shaved his beard, Hutelmyer got wed, David Lazer returned, Wildcat experienced all sorts of rights of passages, CW wasn't broken by Busch Ice, "That One" was elected President, and we finished our album. OK, in all fairness, lots of much more important things happened as well, but this blog is not about those things...or anything, really. so... A few words about our new album, "Welcome Home." We started recording it in May, and finished by the beginning of October. It was a long process, and we all worked really hard together on it, much more than we could or should EVER talk about...but anyhow, its done. BK and Taylor did a fantastic job mixing and mastering the thing, and those beautiful folks at Djangokil have made it all possible...we are all excited for you to listen to it, which you'll be able to do on November 15th, when it'll become available at our Release Show at Boone Saloon. Awesome. The tracklisting is as follows: 1. Stands In Shoes 2. Slow Dogs 3. Rick Danko (Was An Honest Man) 4. Mother Sun 5. Blah Blah Blah 6. Five More Years 7. Growing Ground 8. Stranded/Poor 9. Mountain Smashing Song of Joy 10. Lancaster You can already listen to two of the tracks here. Hope you enjoy, and see you November 15... xoxoNakedGods.

Dear Diary: WOW, IT'S SEPTEMBER ALREADY!!! Where did the summer go? Well, Naked Gods will tell you where: straight to the bottom of a beer can, and then pissed off the side of our porch!
OK, fair enough, I'm just speaking for us. We all hope that you girls and guys had a lovely summer, full of positivity and creativity, steamy nights and hazy mornings, leisure and leisure and leisure...you get the picture!
Guess what folks: HUTELMYER GOT MARRIED TO EMILY!!! And, as expected, it was beautiful...so beautiful that one could see a teardrop glimmering down the side of BK's face. So beautiful that Seth ate fifteen BBQ sandwiches to assuage his happiness. So beautiful that Wildcat dug out his "blanky" that night and slept with it. So beautiful that CW and Jason from Hymns cuddled in the forest until they were found by a Wizard...err, the Wizard's Hawk. And by Wizard we mean Bob. And by "so beautiful," what we are really trying to convey is that we all got SUPREMELY WASTED. It was awesome. Everyone puked, and Naked Gods, aka "groomsmen and bridesmaids" were all, if memory serves, asked to leave...Anyhow, it was fantastic, and we wish the happy couple all the best, and hope we didn't piss off your families too much...
OK. So, in music news, the album is almost finished. Yeah yeah yeah, you've all heard that one before, but this time we are seriously serious! We'll be arguing/working on the last track tonight, and a few tunes have already been mixed. The artwork is mostly conceived (if not manifested), and we have some possible tracklistings too mull over. All of us are extremely excited, and we've worked really hard (muted astonishment) and diplomatically (even more atonishingly) to create a cohesive "record" we are all happy with and proud of. The rest is a surprise, but it'll be out in November....
Naked Gods will be performing live in a town near you (aka Boone) this month at Black Cat with Holy Liars (its on a Wednesday, but you can make it if you try), followed by some gigs at the Saloon (!!!)........who knows, we might even buy a van and leave western North Carolina...Remember to support local music wherever you are, not necessarily us, but whomever. The world is overflowing with great musicians who need to be heard. And while your at it, make some music yourself!!
Ohhh dearest diary...suppose that's all for now, until the time again comes to leaf through your love frayed parchments and leave behind a solitary footprint in the sand.
xoxo Naked Gods.
P.S.: Hutelmyer is somewhere on the horizon, missing his cats and his copy of "Mean Girls." Seth is moving up in the world, from slinging chicked and breaking our shit to slinging tacos and breaking our shit. BK is resting up...for the rest of his life. CW is coveting Hutelmyer's copy of "Mean Girls" and studying to get ahead of Wildcat. Speaking of Wildcat, he's dilligently working to keep his bowels in line...
The trees around our house may soon be falling down. But if we are asleep/away/rocking/in a drunked stupor, will we hear them?

Current mood: animated
Dear Diary:
Hi anyone and everyone who may or may not be reading our blogs...We in Naked Gods hope that the summer finds you all basking in sunlight and rainbows and positivity and all kinds of dumb shit, which is what we try to do!
Things have been "as eventful as ever" for us. Believe it or not, our first full length album is almost in the proverbial "can!!!" We have two more tracks left to record, and a few odds and ends to complete with the rest of the tunes. It'll be ten songs in all, and we think they are all pretty damn all right. We'll post more about this as the time comes, and expect some much needed new tunes ASAP! We are aiming for what most likely will be an early October release, with a huge bash and some other ridiculous shit to happen.
There are some exciting shows coming up...with Yardwork in Charlotte at Snug Harbor in August, as well as the Boone Music Scene festival in early September.
Chris is getting married in August (sorry ladies and gentlemen...) in what I personally hope will be true "November Rain" style, and by that I mean drunk band members in tuxes, nonsensical guitar solos in a desert, people jumping over cakes in slow motion, and Seth crooning with a bandanna and playing a grand piano with a full orchestra conducted by someone who appears to be Weird Al Yankovich. Only no one will die. Sounds fucking rad to me!
As for the rest of us: Seth is still slinging chicken and breaking all of our shit, particularly chairs. Wildcat is knee deep in his business affairs, making damn sure his tenants are paying rent. BK is trying to figure out the RIGHT way to play "Stairway to Heaven" on our porch. Christian is laboring over this blog, while trying to gain muscle mass by swimming in Watauga lake, once a week. Our house hasn't been razed yet, and someday we will finish our album...
Hugs and kisses, NAKED GODS.

dear diary:
Well, we are most of the way through the great month of April, the last of the snow is (hopefully) over, and the weather in Boone is actually nice for the first time in, like, forever! So I suppose there is a lot to be thankful to something for these days!
First things first, Naked Gods want to send all their love and best to our awesome pals at the Boone Saloon, which as most of you know, was pretty fucked up in a fire last week. It's an incredibly sad thing for the music and social scene here in our town, and we are all counting down to the glorious day when we can all congregate there again! I mean, where the hell are Naked Gods supposed to drink bear every Friday...Saturday...Sunday...MondayWednesdayThursday...and yes, even Tuesdays?!?
But really, in all seriousness, we love the Saloon and wish everyone the best!!!
In happier news, our favorite local band, the Karloffs, have just released a 7", the "Three on the Tree E.P.," and it fucking rocks!!! You can, and should if your not worthless/tasteless, pick it up on glorious green vinyl at Green Eggs & Jam or Fat Cat's Music and Video, or at one of their shows. So support everyone's favorite rock dinosaurs and buy this record TODAY!!! (sorry guys, just had to throw that little jab in there...)
Which brings me to us: what the fuck is going on with Naked Gods these days? We are working on some really cool new songs that, we think, are breaking some new ground for us. The album is coming along, we're gonna try to get the bulk of it done in May, so we'll see if our excessively lazy asses can actually pull this one off. Hopefully by mid-summer, you'll be able to listen to it, and maybe even drop a needle on it! We're playing at the Visualite Theater in Charlotte next week, with our friends Yardwork and a host of others, including Des Ark...it should be really fun, and you and your friends should make the scenic drive down to the Queen City for a good night of rock and roll. Gigs are also in the planning stages for shows in Boone with the Karloffs and Royal Bangs, as well as a possible Saloon benefit...
Seth is still slinging chicken and breaking all of our shit, and in a strange twist of fate, apologizing to Chris for it. Chris prays every day that he will soon be selling candy canes with Charlie Slack. Derek is really excited because he can finally grow a beard, after all these very few years! Christian is working on a solo album, "A Very Grungy Christmas." Brian's art is on display at the nth, but don't ask him about it, 'cause he's pissed...sort of.
Our house is falling down.
ok, see you soon, xoxoxo

dear diary:
as the first thaws of february are upon us and the glorious groundhog nigh graces us with his presence we must admit it is a great time to be a naked god. any day now brian, christian and derek move into a house which should serve as our practice and recording space for our new cd.
so here's the update on everybody:
derek is dropping a class which will hopefully not only free up his fridays, but cause him to rethink this whole "school" thing. seth continues his job at the only family style fried chicken restaurant that daniel boone himself once started out as a dishwasher. christian, while not working two jobs, can be found procuring the finest in christmas mom sweaters and argyle socks. chris is usually seen posting pictures of his cats around downtown... not because they are lost, but just cause he thinks they're cute. brian can be found... well brian can't usually be found. let us know if you see him, we need to practice!
hope to see you all real soon love,
naked gods
