Hello everyone. Its cold, I've yet to recover from the previous cold I had 3 weeks ago, but I now have meds to hopefully whisk that mucus into never-never land. Of course there is only one thing to do when yr heaped full of drugs...Listen to heady music! So, if you've got a cold, drinking the 40oz. size Nyquil, or just want to relax and enjoy some good music, tonight's show is yr gateway drug. More new releases! Yay. We love this time of the year.

Release Focus
Our love affair with Thor's Rubber Hammer Productions is fairly well documented on this blog. They just put out great, aurally-challenging pieces that equally delight and confuse upon listening. This year has brought some changes to the label--new release formats (less cd-r, more vinyl), and full lengths from bands previously only heard on comps.
One such band is Chartreuse. Coming from the mind of Drew Smith, Chartreuse is the type of band that you wish could be playing as a soundtrack to your life. Oh, wouldn't it be keen to be walking down the street and see the birds flying overhead to music like this? Its probably one of, if not the most heart achingly beautiful releases of the year.
What Smith aspires to on this record and accomplishes is a myriad of heavenly guitar ambience cutting through an organic sound of pure blissful exploration. Each melody builds upon the previous, looping and swirling around like cloudy puffs of smoke.
At just under an hour, Drew Smith delivers such an impact-filled album, its odd to write that this is his debut record.
