We'll be closing out an amazing year of shows in Seattle at The Showbox Market, Saturday, December 19th. We're pullin out all the stops, this is gonna be a BIG ONE. We'll be sharing the bill with Superfekta(CD release), Counterfist, Future Fossils and Urban Collapse. We'll have all new t-shirts and stickers as well as CDs and other great items available, we'll be doing a "RiverFriends" meet-and-greet/album signing, as well as a few special plans for our live set...Please join us for what will no doubt be an amazing night!

SEATTLE, WA (June 11, 2009) — The eighth annual LAYNE STALEY TRIBUTE AND BENEFIT CONCERT — honoring musician LAYNE STALEY’s life and music — will be held on SATURDAY, AUGUST 22, 2009, 7:30PM at SHOWBOX MARKET located at 1426 1st Ave., Seattle, WA.
This year’s event will feature a solo acoustic performance by ED KOWALCZYK, widely known as the lead singer/ guitarist of the band LIVE, one of the most successful and enduring alternative rock bands of the past 15 years.
LIVE has maintained a devoted fan base over the years due to the substantial and durable nature of their lyrics, which have often reflected Kowalczyk's personal and spiritual concerns. “My approach as a songwriter is to write songs that are not finite and will resonate with listeners for a really long time,” Kowalczyk asserts. “Sixteen years after our first album, Mental Jewelry, I am still able to get something out of songs LIVE recorded in the early 1990s--and I think that one of the reasons why we have had so many fans for so long is that our fans are also continuing to find nuances in our songs.”
Ed is now accentuating these nuances in a more intimate setting through this special solo-acoustic performance which will be a featured set at this year’s benefit concert.
Returning to the stage this year is a favorite among Alice in Chains’ and Layne’s fans, SECOND COMING, who’s music history and friendship with Layne dates back to the early 80’s when band members Johnny Bacolas and James Bergstrom performed with him in the bands, ‘Sleze’ and ‘Alice N’ Chainz’. Current SECOND COMING band members include: Travis Bracht – vocals; Johnny Bacolas – bass; James Bergstrom – drums; and Eric Snyder – guitar. SECOND COMING’s live performance is powerful and electric, one of the many reasons they continue to embrace and draw a loyal following.
As is tradition, the event will also feature many special touches that uniquely honor Layne and his fans, including a special performance by NANCY McCALLUM, Layne’s mother. Of special note, this year’s tribute event falls on Layne’s actual 42nd birthday.
Musicians participating in the benefit over the last seven years include DAUGHTRY, AARON LEWIS (STAIND/acoustic set), KEVIN MARTIN (CANDLEBOX), HURT, TANTRIC, SOULBENDER, RIVERBEND, TIM BRANOM, TEMPEREDCAST, DC & THE WASHINGTONS, REVOLVE, FEAR ITSELF, SURFACE TENSION, JAR OF FLIES, and GARY HOEY.
All proceeds benefit LAYNE STALEY FUND, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created in 2004. Seeking to turn the tragedy of Layne’s death into hope for those that suffer, LAYNE STALEY FUND, working with fans and musicians, uses donated funds and proceeds from the sale of merchandise and tribute revenues to support local chemical dependency facilities, drug education, and outreach programs. LAYNE STALEY FUND was co-founded by Nancy McCallum and Jamie Richards of Emerald City Musicians Network.

Hey everybody...we'll be doin an all ages show next week, Saturday the 2nd at a KICK ASS new club in Seattle called MOTOR. We are sure you all will love the place, the sound is great and the bar is on the main floor in full view of the stage. We'll be filming/recording the show and we hope to see all your rock faces as this will defnately be a show to remember. Tickets for this one will be $10 in advance and $12 day-of-sale, and we'll be doin special discounts for groups of four or more. Times are tough but we gotta keep rockin, ya know?
