My brother, Innes, and I have managed to record one of his self-penned songs together, even though he lives in Australia and I live in Scotland. Have a listen on my page, download it, comment on it etc. It's not a top-class recording but its me and him playing and singing together, which is pretty special to us and we hope you enjoy it. Rory

FOLK RORY CAMPBELL: Intrepid ****
Widely admired as the piper/low whistle expert with Old Blind Dogs, Campbell is one of Scotland's trekkie pipers, boldly taking the instrument to new universes, while respecting his traditional background - his father is a respected Barra singer. The son also sings, and here gives us some in Gaelic and English, both traditional and self-penned, while the instrumental sets - on bellows pipes, and with Johnny Hardie's fiddle and Donald Hay's drums - move through continents, cultures and genres. This powerful music has a Scottish soul and an appealingly international outlook.

FOLK RORY CAMPBELL: INTREPID
STRONG and expressive music in an outward-looking contemporary folk idiom from the Barra-born piper and singer. Campbell has featured in a number of bands, notably Deaf Shepherd and Old Blind Dogs, but this album places him front and centre, with support from Jonny Hardieon guitar and drummer Donald Hay. The instrumental sets range widely, taking in tunes from Brittany, Galicia, Northumberland and the USA alongside Corrina Hewat's Bass Strathspey and several of his own tunes, including dedications to his son in Innes Campbell and his wife in Anya. His playing on pipes and whistles places him in the top rank of current practitioners, while his exploratory musical sensibility ensures that he pushes beyond the predictable in imaginative fashion. His selection of songs includes the very traditional Oran nam Mogaisean, originally from Newfoundland, a dreamy version of Björk's Jóga, and his own Dreams (sung in both English and Gaelic) and Sunny Outside.

Finally got round to setting up a space here. On the road with Old Blind Dogs, home on the 21st, though. We've trawled around and covered more than a few miles. Eaten some orange food and a multitude of fried stuff. It's a struggle to find something remotely healthy. However...
