It's been a minute since we've said hello to our friends on MySpace directly, and we're sorry we've neglected you for so long...
Here's a taste of what's been going on over at Birmingham's hub...
Our newest team member, Josh Self, decided to make a big splash by providing timely posts on Five Points' new look (at a price) and the metro area's newest option for sushi - Maki Fresh.
We've unfortunately had to post an update about Civil Rights era singer/songwriter (and hopefully performer at the upcoming Presidential inauguration) Odetta and her recent health crisis. We hope she gets better soon.
We do hope you'll keep the calendar open for Friday, December 5 as we celebrate our 2nd annual Holiday Get Together on the 75th anniversary of the repealing of Prohibition - at Speakeasy! You can let us know if you're coming via Upcoming or Facebook...
You'll also want to think about adding your voice to the Chamber's Birmingham image survey and seeing what else makes Bottletree owner Merrilee Challiss tick.
Keep your eyes open too - starting tomorrow (Thursday) there will be an expanded store for Birmingham's hub (finally) and we'll have a new way that you can contribute to us...
Like we said, it's been a while since we've said hello to folks over here but we wanted to slowly get back into the habit as we get ready to finally try out a few things and become more of a hub for you. Try out the changes as they happen and let us know what you think. and as always...
Enjoy the ride!

Here's what Andre wrote in today's e-newsletter in advance of Saturday's show
From the stationmaster I'll admit that I remember doing Da Butt (insert synthesizers) back in 1987 when I was in elementary school. I still haven't seen Brock and the guys from Perpetual Groove perform live since I moved to Birmingham from Savannah, despite seeing the Mystery Machine cruising around town. I've got this really cool photo of Preston Lovinggood jamming on a guitar from an impromptu Wild Sweet Orange show in front of Speakeasy during Sidewalk two years ago. Satan and Adam's music is just incredible. And we haven't even talked about the other shows in town, including our own. This is by far one of the most difficult weekends for music fans in the Magic City in some time, with Saturday being particularly hard in terms of making a decision. It probably makes some folks long for a shuttle bus and an all access pass so they can get a taste of all of the options. We're hoping that you'll come out and support The Terminal and these great local acts by coming out to The Bottletree tomorrow night. It is one way to show your continued support for the site, though there are other ways. That said if we don't see you Saturday, we hope that you'll head out to one of the other incredible performances taking place (some of which are listed in our current e-newsletter - sign up so you don't miss the next one) or make sure that one friend of yours that always says that there's nothing to do is aware of all of the options available to them. Any attempts to complain about nothing to do (at least musically) will be met with extreme frustration by me (and quite possibly a few others). If nothing else, just think of supporting this night of options as supporting what you want to see in Birmingham. Thanks for your support! Andre Publisher and all around wild and crazy guy

You can always join us over on our Terminal page over on Facebook for what will be more frequent updates beginning next week. Happy Wednesday everybody! We've got a couple of things to get out to you here in the MySpace universe: First of all, with everyone talking about the mayor's plans to bid for the 2020 Olympics, André felt the need to share his thoughts about what such an attempt could actually mean. Plus, renaming our airport is a great idea, especially considering who they're thinking about naming it for. It might just be nice if we were actually using the airport's current name. Finally, there are tons of other stories on the site, but one event that we'd like to point out to you. Click on the image below for more info (including to purchase tickets) and if you feel the urge, change your profile picture to it as well through July 26. We'd appreciate it. Help us spread the word about our existence, showcase some great local talent, and help secure our ability to serve the community at least through the end of the year. Special thanks to The Bottletree, Travis Morgan at Skybucket Records and Adam Stoves for the poster design. As always, enjoy the ride! http://bhamterminal.com

Good morning everybody! There's not a whole lot to report from the world of The Terminal today; we will be letting you know details about March 14's anniversary event by Friday afternoon. We really hope that you can make it. We wanted to make you aware of two initiatives announced last week - one's from our convention and visitors bureau and the other is from us. We hope that you'll take a moment to share your opinions with both campaigns in the coming weeks and months. The CVB's inBirmINgham campaign was officially launched early last week asking folks to tell them, and visitors, what their favorite "in" spot is in metro Birmingham. http://inbirmingham.orgThe idea is to show residents and our guests just what there is to offer in The Magic City in terms of things to do and places of interest. They have a nomination form available for you to share information with them and we hope that you'll consider doing so. http://www.birminghamal.org/in/Our campaign looks at the fact that The People are The City - words written over the doors inside of our city council's chambers. We've had the phrase "It's Nice to Have You in Birmingham" on our shirts for the past six months. Now we'd like to ask you to let us know who do YOU like having in Birmingham? - which people are making this city a great place to live every day. http://bhamterminal.com/mybirmingham/2008/02/21/you-know-its-really-nice-to-have-you-here/(HINT: Scroll down after you get there if you really want to get to the heart of the post.) For right now, we're asking that you email us your nominations/submissions to info@bhamterminal.com. We hope to have received some before the end of the week so we can start the series the week of our first anniversary. (we'll also be announcing a submission form on our site soon). Our hope is to explain this and other initiatives on March 14. Take a moment, think about sharing your opinions with both campaigns and also bear with us as we continue to make changes throughout the site in the coming days. Also, share this with as many people as possible so that as many different voices can be shared. We'll be posting this on our MySpace blog as well so people can use the links. Enjoy the ride! http://bhamterminal.com

We're hoping to see some of you out at tonight's Collective Perspectives event at Vulcan Park (from 5 - 7 p.m.). We'd love it if you could spread the word too. We'll have some of our black Terminal Ts available at our table (for $16 each) - and we might even let you know who our presenting sponsor is for March 14. If you do come out, once you get home you might want to let folks know if you think that the Big Guy is one of your favorite "in" spots as part of the CVB's new co-op marketing campaign. Also: Terri's "In Love With" chicken salad today, giving us her thoughts on three of the city's best - you can always let us know what you think. There's a new promotional video about the Alabama Environmental Center - click here to take a peek. Folks heading out to tomorrow's UAB Blazers game will be able to help a Birmingham resident celebrate winning $1 million from Visa--And it's only 24 days until we celebrate one year of existence... Enjoy the ride!

It's been a while, so pardon us if we give you too much info today: We will be posting images from Sunday's implosion of the Parliament House Hotel on the city's Southside. Check back here to find out when they're posted. We'll also be at Vulcan Park for the third installment of their Collective Perspectives series being held as part of Black History Month. Here's a taste what you missed this past Tuesday. And if you didn't already see this morning's front page of The Birmingham News, we're getting da Vinci drawings in town in September. And there's a reason it's a big deal! We didn't do this in our newsletter for this week, but we wanted to take a moment to thank Charles Buchanan for becoming the other half of the "In Love With" team over on Timetable. His first post, about Moss Rock Preserve, went up on Monday. We've also got a new schedule for our Timetable columns starting next week. Don't forget to check out Christina's and Sam's suggestions for the weekend. We also figured you'd want to know that we'll be celebrating our first anniversary on Friday, March 14 on the top floor of the old Protective Life building at Richard Arrington, Jr. Blvd and 1 st Avenue North. Bookmark this post and check back for more information. Finally, you've got to check out the one, two punch delivered by The Birmingham News and Birmingham Weekly to one of our elected officials yesterday morning. That's it for now... Enjoy the ride!
