Greetings friends and all the lovely people that I may not have met yet~ lots going on over here, so much that I forget to blog it all. I will attempt at a recap to fill you in on what's going down:

1. I have had a few editing meetings with Alfred Publishing to work on my music instruction book "The Key of One." I wrote it almost a decade ago and had been turned down by various companies at the time, so I shelved it. Fast forward to 2009~ I had an opportunity to share it with Alfred and they really got what it was all about. They're a great company and their people are superb. If all goes as planned, we'll finish editing next month and then film the DVD component in November so that in 2010, you'll be able to pick up a copy and learn music. Exciting times... will keep you posted!

2. Many of you know my porno-funking booty-rocking band Rudy and might have heard our two studio albums "Booty" and "Sexy" or our "Live at Skydive Sebastian" double album, all three of which are available on iTunes and other online retailers. Well, since it's been almost a decade since "Sexy" we decided to make the long-awaited third Rudy album, which we'll be recording in October down in Florida! Not only did we have a bunch of songs from the last 10 years of playing live, but we decided some new material would be in order. Hence, last week drummer Howard Goldberg came out to G-Spot Studios and we laid down some awesome new tunes that we know Rudy fans worldwide will really dig. I won't leak any titles at this point because we have to see what makes it to the actual album but rest assured, Rudy is alive and better than ever! And that also leads to:

3. There will be two celebratory Rudy concerts in South Florida on Oct 23 & 24th! Robbie, Howard, Rey and Johnny will jam out the old and new tunes on Friday Oct 23rd at Boston's on the Beach in Delray Beach, FL! Saturday's gig is almost confirmed (we'll let you know when it is) but we will be doing two very different shows so you won't want to miss either of em! More info at www.myspace.com/rudymusic

4. I have some songs I've been working in the studio with Ran Pink and Rami Jaffee and if we can ever get em done, I can't wait for you to listen to them! You may have heard the demos for em on www.myspace.com/robbiedemos at some point but the songs "Mesmerized" and "Naked in the Night" are gonna knock your socks off. Naked in particular might be one of the most accessible tunes I've ever written and it definitely shows my love for BeeGees, Hall and Oates and the production stylings of Albhy Galuten. More on that as it comes~ will have it on iTunes and all that jazz when it's ready.

5. My sister is in an awesome new band called Riot Brides and they're starting to play gigs around LA and soon, the world. They're at www.myspace.com/riotbrides and they freaking rock! Had to pass along~ proud brother, what can I say? :)

6. Back before I moved to LA, I wrote three really cool tunes with a talented singer named Scott Smith, who used to sing for a popular Florida band called Shufly. Scott just moved out here and to welcome him to town, we're going to perform our three tunes for the first time on Oct. 9th at Cinespace! Joining us will be the lovely and talented Tiffany Randol to play a few songs that she and I have written together. I'll also do a few solo tracks and it promises to be a unique evening of music. Come out, welcome Scott to town and dig on some great tunes! Check out Scott at http://www.myspace.com/scottsmithrocks and Tiffany at http://www.myspace.com/tiffanyrandol

Been catching a lot of great waves recently, feeling in terrific shape and enjoying life. My nephew Jagger is awesome and I get to see him a whole bunch~ he certainly knows and loves his Uncle Robbie :) Kid's gonna be a heartbreaker~ watch out ladies!

Thanks for checkin in~ hope to see you Oct 9th in LA or the 23/24th in Florida.

Best of love to you~

Hey there~ just posted an essay I wrote on Ayn Rand that has been on the drawing board for awhile and is finally done. This piece is a cogent debate on the legacy of Ayn Rand, who had a profound influence on me and still does to this day. If you've never read her seminal works "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged" I encourage you to make the time and do so! Perhaps my essay will sway you in that direction :)

Please feel free to comment and spread it around. Thanks!

The first episode of Keyboard Magazine's Stompbox Garage is online now! Robbie and his two talented colleagues test out a bunch of wah wah pedals on a vintage Clavinet, much like Robbie has used in Rudy for years. Check out the footage and prepare to get funky:

http://www.keyboardmag.com/article/stompbox-garage-episode/jul-09/98375

Join Keyboard contributors Robbie Gennet, Dave Bryce, and Arlan Schierbaum in this new video series. Each month, they'll put a different category of pedal effects through its paces, with a focus on sweetening - and sometimes mangling - vintage keyboards!

For our maiden voyage, we decided to compare all comers in that most funky of categories: the wah-wah. And what's a wah without a Clavinet? For that matter, what's a Clav without a wah? We'll leave such weighty questions to the philosophers, preferring instead to answer the more immediate question: If you want real analog wah to funk up your keyboard sounds, which one should you buy? We hope you have as much fun watching this show as we did making it. Next month, we tackle phasers!

Greetings from the West Coast, where I'm excited to release a brand new single: "Someday After All"! The song was produced by Ran Pink and Rami Jaffee at Fonogenic Studios in SoCal and it's available on iTunes now! My buddy Ryan Brown accompanied me on the drums and did a fabulous job, as he always does. We're excited for you to hear the tune, which is posted here at Myspace. Check it out, pick it up on iTunes and turn it up! I'd love to hear your feedback so feel free to comment or message me and let me know what you think. Hope to see you in NYC on July 4th! Respect and love, Robbie Gennet

Hey there! In case you didn't know, I've been hosting some videos for Keyboard Magazine, at which I'm a contributing editor. I've done some interviews before but this week we've added some special clips I thought you'd wanna see:

First, I did a tour of the Rhodes Piano factory, which was amazing. Those of you who know my work in the band Rudy have heard the Rhodes pianos (and a little Clavinet) and since I own 7 vintage Rhodes and write with Keyboard, I was invited to be the first "civilian" allowed to see inside the new factory and check out the newest incarnations of Rhodes pianos. These are the first ones manufactured since the early 80's and they are superduper! Take a gander at these vids to see how they're being made and how they sound:

I'm also involved in an upcoming series for Keyboard Mag called "Stompbox Garage" where two stellar keyboard players (Dave Bryce and Arlan Schierbaum) join me to test out effects pedals on vintage keyboards and review them. Of course, once we review them, we have a big fat jam! Ahead of the series (which will air at www.keyboardmag.com) Keyboard is posting some of the live jams on their YouTube page~ the first two are up and I come in about 3:30 into the second one. My drummer Ryan Brown came to play with us and we had a ball~ the next couple of jams will be online soon and they're a lotta fun! Enjoy em~ here's the links:

More coming soon~ keep in touch and I'll see you around....
