"Of Infinity is a young, new band that is turning a lot of heads in the metal world. They are powered by the tandem of vocalist/keyboardist Alessandra Zinicola and guitarist Nazareth Sando. They released their debut EP, "The Essence Of Infinity" earlier this year and received lots of attention from all the metal press. Their brand of lush goth-metal is fringed with classical elements along with barb-wire guitar bursts. I spoke to Alessandra this week about the history of the band and why people are paying such close attention to Of Infinity..."
!!!!Of Infinity Reviews!!!!
THE BEDLAM SOCIETY (Canadian Music Magazine)
http://www.bedlamsociety.com/reviews.asp?reviewId=963&title=Of Infinity - The Essence of Infinity (Independent)
"Fans of Lacuna Coil or Evanescence should rejoice, because theres a new kid on the block, Of Infinity. The Texas-based quartet has put out an EP that is full of the goth-tinged metal that defines the other bands. Unlike than the others however, there is more of a metal bend than the more commercial approach of the likes of Evanescence. Despite the piano, acoustic guitar, violins and other more tranquil aspects of the EP, the guitars are barbed wire sharp, and the pace is steady.
There are three tracks on the EP, all of which have various passages, mostly majestic verses building up to exquisite choruses. The material is fronted by the clear and impressive vocals of Alessandra Zinicola. All of the three songs have a really well defined melody line, and work as both instrumentally exciting and as actual structured songs, something that doesn't always happen with this type of material. With talent such as this, great things should be expected from them in the future."
NOW ON TOUR
http://www.nowontour.com/reviews/record/print.php?id=01050"I wasn't expecting the blast of powerful music that is contained on Of Infinity's debut EP, The Essence Of Infinity. There are just three cuts here but they all make a less-than-subtle impression on the listener. This is melodic goth-metal at its best. You could draw Lacuna Coil as a close comparison point. The entrancing vocals of Alessandra Zinicola are the focal point for the band, as she effortlessly scales the heights like a bird.
The first cut, "The Voice Without" starts off with a blast of chords and a regal-sounding guitar intro before giving away to a double-bass fury. Alessandra's soaring vocals enter like a refreshing blast of cool air in the sweltering heat. The song is expertly paced, switching between the measured verses and the assault which accompanies the excellent chorus. Acoustic guitar and piano are cleverly woven in places to help give some depth to the piece.
The next cut, "Shadow Of A Lie" begins with a restrained, troubadour-esque intro that soon steps aside for a furious attack. Complete with an inviting violin spiritedly leading the charge, the combinations of sounds are lethal. Alessandra's clear and attention-wrestling vocals again ride the song to its destination. There are some interesting curves and detours in this song. A break in the aggression allows the music to decompress for a second, giving you a chance to catch your breath. A splendid solo rips the band back into gear as the song swings towards its conclusion.
"It's Only For Forever" is an awesome track that begins with a gritty guitar passage over a piano backdrop. Alessandra's voice really shines on this cut, augmented by the harmony parts that are dropped in here and there. She can hit great heights and but her voice is really effective when she stays in the mid-range as it is just so ear-friendly.
Of Infinity is made up of guitarist Nazareth Sando who knows perfectly just when to throw on the metal and when to rein it in to allow the other instruments to shine through. Also included is Kurtis Kyllo on bass and Carlos Teller on drums. Alessandra also contributes piano and other keyboards. She writes the material along with Nazareth.
This is a tremendous EP that bubbles over with poise and talent. I can't wait to see what Of Infinity has in store for us in the future."
