Here is a bit of information regarding the songs i have uploaded

Oh No song
This is a song I wrote some time in 2008.  I recorded it for a ukulele mini-album called 'Insignificant Songs' which I have never finished.  If someone wants to release this album then I will try and finish it.

Without Me
One of my very newest songs, and possibly the only thing I have recorded in the past 6 months.  A little bit bitter maybe.

L.O.V.E.
(for some reason this song is playing really quietly, is anyone else having that problem?)
Typical bitter post-valentines day song, written during an unusually creative period in early 2008.  In fact I think I wrote about 6 or 7 songs in january 2008.  Wow.

Winchester Cathedral Choir
Released on the Homocrime 3"cd years and years ago.  Listening to it now seems weird.  One of the older (oldest?) songs I still play live on regular basis, though it sounds quite different.  This recording is one of the few featuring my Hohner Organetta.

The Universal
I think I may have recorded this in december at the same time I recorded a lengthy acappella version of Little Drummer Boy (if anyone wants to hear this I might be persuaded to upload it).  It is a cover of a song by Blur which you can hear on adverts for British Gas.

Hip Hop song
This is another ukulele song recorded for the Insignificant Songs album.  The opening line is lifted from a song by The Cool Kids.

i played a bunch of gigs and still have more to come, but more of that later yeah.

played in bristol on valentine's day.  was fun.  punk.  rock venue with stickers and graffiti and skeletons and stuff.

in order to promote the show Michal from Local Kid wrote a bunch of stuff about the bands and sent it to 'the press' (maybe) i think what he wrote about me is funny.  so read it.

"winston echo is the crabby writer of love songs, the dreamer in pessimist
clothing; he's on the outside of the box where we all are, and leads us
hand-clapped into singalong-a-bittersweet triumph! ours is the quiet victory
of joy mapped out by modern lovers and friendly ghosts - deep charted
waters to an outlook previously known to us: an open observance and naive
attendance; a song you sing to keep yourself company - and that's as punk
as punk can get! and winston echo could be the best thing we ever had"

Red Hot Blog Action
Because you can never have enough blogs.  I started a new new blog, which will feature stuff  what i've written (poems or stories or jokes or i don't know) and pictures i make.  it's called Late Night Taxi Driver Badminton.  check it check it.

also, as i'm approaching 1000 friends on myspace i'm thinking of imposing some limitations.  I've decided that i'll never break the 1000 mark (at least not until i'm super famous) and once i hit 1000 it'll be a 'one in, one out' deal where someone will get deleated to let someone else join.  so if yr worried i might delete you then you better make a bit more effort to be my friend!

I have loads of bandwidth and it's just going to waste.

My website has fallen into disrepair but I am trying to work it out.  The downloads page is being filled with stuff quite consistently.  As it stands there's almost 2 hours of music you can download for nothing.

http://winstonecho.com/songs.html

The latest update is the long lost Halloween CD i made a few years ago.  It's called It Is Alive and it's got 5 songs on it (2 of which, Dracula's Disco Party and my Daniel Johnston cover, are on this MySpace thing) and there were only maybe 17 copies made.  They are all gone.  But now you can download it.  For nothing.  It contains some of the weirdest stuff I've ever done, when I was messing around w/ keyboards quite a lot.

I am also working on a new mini-album.  It's going to be mostly ukulele (because I put new strings on) and it'll be called Insignificant Songs.  I'm probably about half way finished (maybe two thirds) so hopefully it'll be ready.  I think it'll be a nice listen.  Yep.

I've been up to other stuff but I can't really be bothered to type any more.  If you wanna know then ask.

so, there's this band called The Retro Spankees, and there great.

i've known them for some years
we're like brothers (and sister)
comrades
they are the tonto to my lone ranger
i don't know what i'd do with out them

on sunday they played at indietracks and had new costumes
they were great
charlie's costume should be a different colour

go and listen to them
hereherehere

they've done a new CDr
it's called "Retrospective"
which makes sense because it is a Retrospective
and they're called The Retro Spankees
it's made up of bits and pieces and live tracks and demos
but
there's also a song by me on there
it's called "supercallifragalisticexpialaretro"
and it's a silly tribute to them because they are my favourites
you should all go and buy this CD because it will be ace
and they could really really use the money
they have children to support

go get it

Ok, here's the deal.  I'm going to be getting some Winston Echo T-Shirts printed, they'll be totally sweet and have one of my drawings on.  It's going to be a super short run and I don't really plan on getting the same design printed twice so if you don't jump all over this then you'll have missed out, and those of you who are clever enough to get on this now will end up with some Mega-Limited-Echo-Merchandise-To-Ebay-At-A-Later-Date!!!

And it goes like this, they'll cost £10 each, which'll include postage to anywhere in the UK (anyone from elsewhere/outerspace get in touch and we'll sort something out) and the only way to gaurantee you'll get one is by paying now.  I'm gonna be taking orders up until Saturday October 20th and then I'll have the t-shirts printed and you'll get them soon after.  By paying upfront you'll be helping me to pay for the printing and I'll love you forever and give you a special Free Gift

(god this is all sounding like a scam, which it isn't)

To pay for a t-shirt please send £10 via paypal to chris@undereducated.com by clicking on the button below  (be sure to let me know what size you're after)
EDIT:  if it's easier you can also pop into the Undereducated Shop and make a payment in a face to face style.

Any questions?
