I don't know if this has already been posted, because the internet is far more advanced than I am, but in case you guys out there don't know, Subway is offering this really awesome deal where you can get pretty much any footlong sub for five bucks. That's a bargain.

Anyway, they have a song on the radio commercial celebrating this momentous occasion, and at the end they tell you to go to their web site to download the "dance remix" of it. I kept putting it off until I was lucky enough to not only remember that this song exists, but also be in front of a computer at the same time.

I predict that this will be the song of the summer, or at least until the $5 deal is no longer valid, whichever ends first. I think that if you throw this joint in right after you play some Samwell that night will pretty much be a wrap.

However, what matters the most is the music, and without any further verbosity, here you go:

http://www.subwayfreshbuzz.com/assets/5dollar_dance.mp3

Expect the bmore remix, the extended intro edit, the Usher mashup, and finally, an itunes-exclusive Tiesto remix.

Somewhere lost at the grocery store amongst mountains of Cadbury Cream Eggs and Marshmallow Peeps was this little gem, which pretty much sums up the misery of my childhood quite succinctly. Yes, you are reading that correctly, it's a "Bag of Passover Plagues." The little bursts read "Fun & Educational," and in an admirable nod to Jewish frugality and practicality "In a reusable bag!" (which is actually quite a powerful selling tactic when used on Jewish grandmothers.) So while little Christoper and Melanie are off hunting for easter eggs, little Jewish children are pretending to turn water into blood and killing each other's firstborn.

The back of the package gives a handy little description of what the plagues are, and which toy in the bag corresponds to them. I can't help but imagine two kids arguing with each other: "You got to be the lice last time. It's my turn to be the lice. You're always the lice." Furthermore, I really want to commend the creators of this toy for the lovely puzzle they made to represent the slaying of the Egyptians first born. I guess there isn't really a cute way to depict that one. And judging by the size of those Pyramids, Egyptians must be gigantic. The Sphinx must have just been some dude's cat covered in clay.

(Thanks to my roommate for spotting this one.)

What is up though.

Unfortunately, we are all unable to go through a day without refreshing our MySpace home pages a trillion times, because getting an email with a picture of the sender above the text is way more exciting than getting one with just text alone. Since we spend so much time spying on people and/or rereading information that we have written about ourselves, anxiously awaiting approval from the internet, I thought I would throw out a few voluntary guidelines to make this a more pleasant experience for all of us on here. Feel free to make any amendments as you see fit.

1. No more pictures of your sneakers. Shoes were designed to go on your feet, so I really cannot understand why they are in your hand in front of a camera. And you don't need to take every pair you own out and arrange them for the camera, or put them in a pile and jump out of it like you're stuck in the trash compactor from Star Wars. I used to take my He-Man action figures out and arrange them into battle scenes with each other. I was also five years old at the time.

2. Just because you went to a club, someone took your picture, and put it on the internet with  text that says something like "www.clubnights.com" under it does not qualify you for anything. It may not even mean that you are attractive -- it might just mean that the person you are standing next to is.

3. Here's an idea: try posting a picture of yourself that wasn't taken at a bar.

4. If you only put up shots of your head, we are all going to assume you are fat, until there is any evidence which proves the contrary. If you're fat it's totally cool -- I spent half of my life being fat. But I wasn't fooling anyone when I went swimming with my t-shirt on. I was just a fat kid swimming with his t-shirt on because he was scared everyone would find out he was fat. Surpise Daniel! They already knew.

5. If MySpace is an attempt to theoretically encapsulate your personality into one single web page, and your page has thirteen songs playing, four videos, 72 image files showing us what movies you like, a background image which makes the reading of text impossible, and cascading hearts immediately upon loading, please consider what assumptions most people will make about you. Most of them will begin with "fucking" and end with "idiot," provided that your page does not cause their computer to crash before all your media is done loading. Personally, I don't want people to feel like they are stuck inside Rainbow Brite's asshole with a migraine headache every time they see my page, but hey, that's just me.

6. Wow, you own a bandana. Congratulations. You are so mysterious that you have decided to fill out a profile about yourself and make it available to everyone in the world. How elusive!

7. So wait, one of your eight best friends is a girl whom you've never met, spoken to, or seen in real life, and has a "webcam?" Those are bonds of friendship which will never be broken.

8. Taking two songs and playing them at the same time is not a "remix." It's playing two songs at the same time. When my Dad watches a football game and also turns the radio on, I don't yell out "Holy shit Dad, that was an awesome remix of the Redskins and Giants game!," I ask him to turn one up and the other down so I can figure out what the hell is going on. Therefore, unless Missy Elliot and Coldplay give you their masters and say "Please combine these two somehow," it's still just a blend. DJ's have been doing them for decades.

More to be added, hopefullly........

OAKBROOK (AP) -- In an effort to strengthen its ties within the African-American community, the McDonald's Corporation has pledged to "give dap" to all Negro customers for the entire month of February, 2007. The fast-food giant will offer the special jive-oriented handshakes as part of its annual Black History Month program, in order to bridge cultural landscapes and celebrate diversity.

McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner

According to McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner, "the blacks have always been important to the continued financial success of McDonald's, and we wanted to take this opportunity to, for 28 days, give something back. Every colored customer who makes a purchase at any participating McDonald's franchise throughout the month of February will not only receive the superior customer service offered standard at all of our locations, but also a unique, afro-centric handshake, commonly referred to as 'dap.' We want our clientèle to feel like the McDonald's in their neighborhood is truly part of the 'hood.'"

McDonald's has already begun training it's more than 447,000 employees for the upcoming initiative. The bi-weekly classes introduce participants to concepts such a the "fist pound" and the "dap hug" (no homo), a popular greeting in which those involved hug with one arm and clasp hands with the other. Advanced courses teach common dap-related vocabulary, from older phrases like "what's the deal, kid?," to the more contemporary "what it do?"

McDonald's employees receiving dap training

Shanelle Armstong, McDonald's US communications manager, explains that "this is merely the next logical step in McDonald's community outreach efforts. What started years ago with our 'Calvin' ad campaign ('Welcome to the 'hood, may I take your order?') and has recently culminated in advertisements depicting a group of African-American friends enjoying 'Big Macs' as hor'dourves at a get-together, we have always had our finger on the pulse of black culture. Take our popular 'dollar menu' items -- which, for the economically challenged residents of black neighborhoods, represent more than a meal -- but a way to 'belong.'"

But for some McDonald's employees, such as 64 year-old Libby, Montana resident Ethel Carr, the dap program is not being met with much fanfare and excitement. "I've never seen one of them before, let alone touched one," says Carr of African-Americans. Blacks make up only 0.4 percent of the population of Montana.

The Black Eyed Peas

Multiethnic rap group "The Black Eyed Peas" have already been tapped to create a series of radio and television commercials for the new campaign, and agreed to change the lyrics of their seminal hit song "My Humps" to include the new lyrics "What you gonna do with all those delicious, golden fries, and new Mighty Kids Happy Meals, for children ages 3-10, inside your trunk? Check it out."

McDonald's also plans on holding low-rider car exhibitions at many of its Chipotle-branded Mexican food franchises in coming months.
