We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and is gearing up for a wonderful holiday season!
Blue Stream Records recording artist Following Indigo was in the studio last week laying down the final demo tracks for their upcoming album. The band cranked out ten GREAT songs to add to the four that we've previously tracked. We have plenty of songs to choose from, and will be deciding which songs make the cut in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the band is hard at work rehearsing and preparing for their official tracking sessions starting in January.

Tracking will likely start with Nick heading to Nashville to cut the drum tracks. We'll keep you posted on this amazing new album!
We've been busy mixing the first three songs from the new album from midwest rockers Greenview. The band was back in the studio a few weeks ago layering some additional guitar tracks.

The music video for their first song "Doctor" is in production now. We had the priviledge to participate in the video shoot last week and even played a few extra parts in the video. We had a blast, and the finished product is going to be awesome!
Some of the other exciting things we've been working on:
We are working hard on the mixes for the new album from Richmond, VA band Offering. We have ten of the twelve songs nearly mixed, and they are sounding amazing!
The two latest albums by pianist Ed Clark. are now available from Ed. They will be available on CD Baby soon!
The mastering for the debut album from Macomb, IL band Never Say When is complete and the project is at the manufacturing plant now. After 13 months of hard work, the band has a debut album they can be very proud of!
Rockers Autumn Zero stopped by last week to tour the studio and talk about their upcoming album project. We spent several hours talking about the music business, comparing stories and just having a great time. We are looking forward to working with them on their new project!

"Thank You" to all of our veterans who have sacrificed so much so that people like us can live in freedom and pursue our passions in life!

And we have been seriously pursuing our passions. Here's a quick rundown of some of the things we've been working on lately:
Eleven-year-old singer/songwriter Sha Kluge was back in the studio recently finishing up one of her songs and laying down some ideas for more songs she has in the works.
Local rock band Greenview stopped by last week to lay down a few more guitar tracks for their album. We tweaked the mix to their first single as they begin music video production next week for the song. I think a couple of our Blue Stream Records staff may even have some parts in the video!
We have been busy mixing the new album from Richmond, VA band Offering. We are loving the opportunity to mix a rock album that blends violins, cellos, piano, drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitars and vocals.
We've been helping coordinate the re-release of two albums by pianist Ed Clark. We did the artwork for the albums and are working with the manufacturers in Arizona to get the CDs back soon.
The mastering for the debut album from Macomb, IL band Never Say When is complete. Harry Hess from H-Bomb Mastering in Toronto, Canada did a fantastic job on the mastering. The band will be getting the CD off to the plant in the next few weeks, just in time for their winter tour.
We've been busy making several upgrades in the studio. That alone is a never-ending chore!
Singer/Songwriter Heather Watkins was in the studio last week tracking some vocals for her project.
Musician extraordinaire Braden Blakley stopped by the studio to test out some of his recently modified guitars. Braden is an incredible guitarist and bassist and is contributing on several of our projects.
Our A&R rep Joel Austin has made several successful trips on behalf of Blue Stream Records and our artists. Last month Joel spent a week in Nashville meeting with several industry folks getting feedback and making plans, and last week Joel spent some time at Greenville College sharing some demos and meeting with staff.
Blue Stream Records recording artist Brandy Kristin was in the studio last week laying down some more demos for her new album. Brandy had several new tunes she wanted to get down on tape. Uh, I mean, on disk. Brandy has been busy writing some great new tunes and should have all the songs ready to start doing some final tracking in the next few months.
Blue Stream Records recording artist Following Indigo is finishing writing the last few songs for their debut album, due out in spring 2010. These guys are prolific songwriters. The challenge for us now will be deciding which of these great songs will make the album. The guys will be back in the studio next week for their final pre-production recording sessions to get the demos recorded.

Official tracking will start in January in Nashville. In the meantime, the guys will be rehearsing constantly to prepare for the sessions and for a few live appearances that are being scheduled. Thanks to Greenville College radio for playing The Release from Following Indigo. Even though it was a demo recording of the song, we've gotten great feedback and reviews!
Blue Stream Records recording artist A.O.E has started pre-production rehearsals for their new album. The band is writing some incredible tunes, enlisting the talent of Mark Holman from St. Louis, who has participated in American Idol and has submitted songs for Daughtry and Trapt.

A.O.E. will be making a couple of live appearances in the coming months between songwriting, rehearsing and recording.

Another month has flown by and we are just now getting a few minutes to update you all on what's been going on. Fall is in the air and we are looking forward to spending some cool days working on some hot tunes! (oh, that was bad!)

We've wrapped up the mixes for the new album from Never Say When and will be getting them ready to send off for mastering very soon.

We've started working on mixes for the new album from Virgina band Offering. This band features some extremely talented musicians who meld classic instruments like acoustic guitar, grand piano, cello and violin to create rich and soulful music. We are honored to be working with them and look forward to hearing how the album progresses.

Legendary country singer/songwriter Nick Nixon was in the studio a few weeks ago with singer Heather Watkins. Nick and Heather tracked several new songs they are presenting to a publishing company.

We've spent some time working on a new tune from 11 year old Sha Kluge. We arranged and tracked some acoustic guitar for her song, and will be working with Sha to complete the song as her entry into a national songwriting competition.

E.L. Kurtz will be in the studio this week tracking some folk songs for a new demo he is working on.

Blue Stream Records is honored to be helping with the Friends and Fans for St. Jude Oktoberfest event. This is an annual event that uses music and entertainment to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital.

This year's event will be on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Firefighters Club on Lake Springfield. Live music is provided by Following Indigo, Seeing Daylight and Bustin' Loose. Additionally, tons of raffle items have been generously donated by area businesses to provide plenty of opportunity for attendees to donate toward some incredible items.

Come on out and enjoy some great music, great friends and a great cause. We hope to see you there!
We loved the sound of our new Universal Audio 6176 channel strip so much that we decided to purchase a Universal Audio 2-1176 compressor as well. This amazing compressor will couple nicely with our Vintech 273. We spent several hours over the weekend reracking and rewiring our gear.

As usual we've been really busy lately! We just finished the mixes for the new album from Never Say When. The band is listening to the mixes now, after which we'll make a few tweaks and then get the songs down to Nashville for mastering. Their album, featuring some great folk rock songs and rich harmonies, should be available later this year.

Midwest rockers Greenview will be in the studio next month starting work on their third album. We are looking forward to bringing their new music to life and capturing some great tracks.

We've started early planning for some music videos for Following Indigo. After we get a few more songs complete in the studio we'll decide which song(s) we want to shoot. We're excited about this phase of the project!

Legendary country singer/songwriter Nick Nixon will be back in the studio next week with talented Heather Watkins to do some additional work on Heather's demo.

Blue Stream Records artist A.O.E. have got some great new songs written to continue work on their album. Fronted by vocalist Jon Wheaton, their music rocks with phenomenal playing and singing. Our A&R rep Joel is currently in Nashville meeting with some industry folks and presenting some of A.O.E.'s tunes.

Pianist Ed Clark, following the success of his three instrumental albums last winter, is re-releasing his two previous albums. Ed has asked us to oversee the production process, so that will keep us busy for the next few weeks as well.

We'd like to welcome our new Universal Audio 6176 channel strip to our growing family of gear! Over the past few months we've added some new mics, including the Neumann M149 and a matched pair of Neumann KM184s. Throw that in with our Avalon VT737sp, our Vintech 273 and our Neumann U87 and we've got quite a variety of tonal options at our disposal! Now we just have to get busy finding rack space and do some rewiring.

(Sorry if we sound like we are just name dropping, but man are we proud to have this gear available for our clients and artists!)

Blue Stream Records artist Following Indigo is back in the studio this weekend tracking keyboards. We are making great progress on their debut album, to be released in spring 2010.

Blue Stream Records artists Following Indigo (formerly "The Indigo") had a busy week last week. After making a stop at the 99.7 Kiss-FM to promote their concert, the band rocked the 2009 PowerLight Fest at the Illinois State Fair.

The guys had the fans on their feet from their first note, and continued keeping the crowd screaming through their forty minute set. They played several songs off of their forthcoming debut album, including unveiling a brand new song that had never been played in public.

After an energetic show, the guys stopped by the merchandise table for a meet and greet, and signed autographs for their enthusiastic fans. Overall it was a great way to wrap up the summer before heading back into the studio.

Speaking of the studio, Adam K. stopped in this week and started laying down bass tracks for several songs. He'll be back this weekend to continue thumping.

If you missed Following Indigo on their radio appearance, you can watch it here!
We'd like to welcome Sean McDevitt as our new Marketing Director! Sean has more than ten years of marketing and promotional experience with both small businesses and established institutions including managing diverse activities from event planning and promotional copy writing to web site creation and teaching. Sean is also a music lover and sometimes critic. We are excited to have him on our team!

Sean's first assignment will be to prepare marketing campaigns in preparation for our label releases.
Blue Stream Records artist Jon Wheaton continues to write some great new songs for his new album from his band A.O.E.. A&R Rep Joel Austin is heading to Nashville next week to hook up with some of his industry buddies and do a little early promotion for A.O.E. We are looking forward to hearing the feedback on their tunes!
Blue Stream Records artist Brandy Kristin was back in the studio recently doing some vocal tracks for several tunes. Brandy has some great new songs in the works, and we laid down a few scratch tracks for reference. Brandy continues to write songs for new album in between appearing at acoustic shows and on stage with her band The Rave.

Hey Everyone -

We've been keeping really busy with Blue Stream Records business!

Last weekend we pulled a double session with Sha Kluge doing some vocal work for part of the day, then Faith Hall and her sisters Hope and Grace (accompanied by Rachael Thurman on keyboards) came in and laid down vocals for an original song.  Everything sounds great!

This weekend Never Say When is back in the studio wrapping up their debut album.  We'll have two full days of finishing up a few tracks and cleaning up a few parts before we start mixdown.  This album has been nearly a year in the making, and the band can't wait to get it out to everyone!

The Indigo officially starts tracking their new album on August 7.  Adam will be in laying down drums for the first couple of songs.  Unfortunately his new custom kit from SJC Custom Drums won't be in for several months...but he does have some sweet new cymbals to use on the tracks.  The band has several big shows coming up in August, so between recording and concert appearances they will be busy!

Brandy Kristin will be in the studio August 15 to track a new song.  This new song, entitled "Desperately Need" is one of our favorite songs from her album, and is sure to be a fan favorite.

Jon Wheaton continues to write for his album and has several more songs to start tracking.  We should have the next song complete (called "On My Own") in a few weeks.  We are also busy getting Jon's band assembled so they can start rehearsing and get a few shows in before the album is released.

We'll keep you posted as more news happens!

Hey everyone - we just posted a new song from Blue Stream Records artist Jon Wheaton on our music player. This song features Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem, Fair Ground) on guitars, Creighton Doane (Harem Scarem) on drums, and was mastered by Harry Hess at Vespa Music Group in Toronto, Canada.

We are still tweaking the song a bit, but it sounded so good we wanted to let Jon's fans get a listen to it. We may not keep the song up for long, so check it out soon!

We've tracked several more songs for Jon's new album, and he's currently writing a few more great tunes to round out the project.  We are also in the process of auditioning players for Jon's touring band, and hope to have the group finalized this fall so they can begin performing a few select dates to get geared up for the album release in early 2010.

We just returned from an amazing week in Toronto working with Pete Lesperance tracking vocals for the new album from Jon Wheaton.

Pete is a phenomenal producer, and knew exactly what the songs needed vocally, and knew exactly how to bring out the best in Jon's performances. We captured some incredible tracks, and can't wait to let everyone hear them.

We also had a lot of fun, and enjoyed every minute spent working with Pete. In fact, I think we laughed and joked as much as we worked, and all in all it was a relaxing yet productive week.

Pete is working on fine-tuning some of the guitar tracks, and we'll have a rough mix of the songs in the near future to share with everyone.

We've got a busy month ahead, with sessions from Never Say When coming up next week, and officially kicking off tracking for the new album from The Indigo. Additionally, we'll be judging a talent show, doing mix downs on a number of songs, and having some writing sessions with Brandy Kristin.

We are having a fun summer of music!!!!!

Our final day working with Pete Lesperance at his studio in Toronto was amazing.  We finished lead vocals on two of Jon's songs, and laid down the first set of harmonies on both songs.

Jon was singing some amazing harmonies, blowing us away with his ability to perfectly follow his lead lines while hitting some incredible notes.  Jon's range is really impressive!

Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end, so at 8pm we loaded up our car and drove 11 hours straight through to return to central Illinois, listening to rough mixes of the songs the whole way.

Pete is going to touch up the guitars on the songs and lay down some additional harmonies, and hopefully soon we'll be able to let you all hear the fruits of our labor.  I'm telling you, these are some really really good songs!

We are heading out to Knights Action Park in Springfield tonight to see The Indigo perform a set.  They will be in the studio soon to start tracking drums for their debut album.

Never Say When performed several shows this week at Cornerstone Festival.  I haven't had a chance to catch up with them yet to see how the shows went...but I'm sure they blew everyone away.

Have a great July 4th holiday weekend!

Hey everyone - another fantastic day in Toronto at Pete Lesperance's studio.  Pete is a real master at coaching the right vocal performance out of an artist.  We got some of the most emotional performances Jon has ever sang today on his power ballad "On My Own".

Jon and I spent the evening having dinner at a local Thai restaurant, walking around China Town, and now rewriting some lyrics in our hotel room to prepare for tomorrow's session.

We'll be heading home tomorrow night or Friday...but regardless, I plan on getting back up here as soon as I can!
