Thanks to all the Archer fans who made it out this last Friday for the show. With your help we’ve made it into the finals of the Rock Wars. Put it on your calendars right now.

Saturday, May 2nd 2009 - 8:00 PM
The Catalyst - Santa Cruz, CA
Tickets: $12 in Advance or $15 at the Door

You can buy tickets online here.

We need your help to win the big one here. Our goal is to completely kill it, bringing in over 400 people and votes. And we can’t do it without you.

If you live anywhere near the area we need you to come down to support Archer.

This show is going to rock BIG TIME! It’ll probably even out-do the best show from the BLS tour and that’s saying something. We’ll be pulling out all the stops.

Plus, we’ll probably be doing something special for all our fans that make it out that night. Don’t know quite yet what it’ll be but we’ve already got a couple ideas brewing.

Wow! Only the third day of the tour and what a time its been already.

Anyone at the Fillmore knows that Archer, Dope and Black Label Society put on a killer show. And if anything the show in Sparks, Nevada may have been even better. For sure, at every stop new fans are lovin’ the music.

It’s been a hell of a ride from the long hours of traveling, setting up the gear, and tearing it down. Not to mention the hassles with our new passenger van breaking down before we even got on the road.

Here on the third day is a much enjoyed day of rest before we rock the Senator Theater in Chico then head up to Oregon and beyond.

Due to just getting use to the feel of being on tour and it being the first show, there’s not many pictures from the Fillmore. But we got some footage including the opening song of Archer at the New Oasis. This is a so far unreleased song, Hell in a Handbag. And with the killer intro music too!

Make sure to check out the blog at http://www.archernation.com/blog to watch it. There’ll be some more behind the scenes stuff coming at you later.

And I have to say all the road crew, Dope, and the guys from BLS have been great. Just hearing a few of their stories is worth the time.

Stay tuned. More coming at you soon.

Keep It Real and Stay Hard!

Dear Fans,

Over this past 2008 calendar year, Archer has endured and enjoyed quite a bit of activity. January found us sharing the stage with Heart at the annual Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. However, it was bittersweet as it was our last show with founding member and beloved drummer and friend, Duke T McB. We parted ways amiably, although I must admit at times there was disappointment and even bitterness between the three of us. After 5 years of having the confidence and trust that I'd have Duke behind the kit every night we take the stage, I suddenly had nobody. I can't tell you how miserable I let the situation make me. But alas, we had no choice but to continue on and search for another drummer.
Despite our shared emotions about everything, we quickly decided there was no time to be wasted in an industry where today's greatest band can become yesterday's news in a hurry. We had to move forward as soon as possible, not to mention we were already booked for the upcoming SwedenRock Festival in June. After some thought, I decided to ask Jimmy Giovachinni to come rehearse with us and see what happens. I'd known Jimmy for years and had watched him grow into a very talented musician and a cool friend of mine. He had already been playing with local Santa Cruz metal giants Entragian for quite awhile, and Isaiah and I had seen him play several times and figured it was worth a shot.
Jimmy was all that we could have asked for. He stepped in and learned a difficult Archer set that we took to SwedenRock a few short months later, where he threw down with Isaiah and I without question or issue like a professional. We had a killer time in Europe, then went on this year to play some excellent local shows, and even spent a month on the road in September with an independent tour based out of Nashville, TN. It was a breath of fresh air to have some new young blood that would drop everything whenever needed to play a show, no matter the size. On another positive note, I grew closer with Isaiah this past year than we ever have been, as we shared the burden of being the 2 remaining founders responsible for marching forward.
From the time Duke T McB made his departure in January through November, Isaiah and I kept good terms with him and were able to rebuild and maintain an amiable relationship. We never played together at all, but hung out regularly and took the opportunity to just be old friends without bearing the weight and responsibilities of Archer that we had all carried together for the last 5 years. It was only halfway cool for Isaiah and I though, as we remained friends with Duke but always kept the question of what could have been from fully enjoying his friendship.
It wasn't until early this month of December that Isaiah and I were invited over to his place one night for reasons we hadn't foreseen. Looking back, it was ironic because the previous night we had jammed at a party at my place, marking the first time the three of us had played music together under any circumstances in almost 11 months. Duke sat us down and told us he had been thinking a lot about his life and where he wanted to take it. He said he truly needed this past year off to take all the necessary steps he had laid out for himself, something he could not have concurrently done with the ever growing emotional, mental, physical, time, and financial commitment that is Archer. To sum it up: "If I don't re-commit and give this band 110 percent, I'm going to regret it for the rest of my life. Consider taking me back and doing this thing more all out than we ever have."
For the sake of brevity, I'll concise all the emotions and thoughts Isaiah and I were feeling, not to mention the couple of weeks Isaiah and I spent going back and forth with Duke and getting advice from our respective loved ones, closest friends, and each other. Even though we didn't immediately take him back when Duke presented the idea that night, we both knew that we would. Duke is an incredibly gifted player and a smart and responsible dude that I can and have trusted since I was fifteen. His one downfall of a lack of commitment has now been erased, and I suddenly find myself back with the two dudes I've always wanted to conquer the world with. We are going out with my hero Zakk Wylde and his Black Label Society in March, and I never dreamed I would have Duke back on his throne for this amazing opportunity. Honestly, it feels like destiny.
Lastly, I have to state that the decision to replace Jimmy G was extremely difficult and something I couldn't stomach at first. He did nothing but rock with us, no questions asked, and came in at a pivotal time that frankly could have made or broken Archer had we not found a suitable drummer to fill the void. Thank you, Jimmy, for stepping in and being part of the Archer family this year. You are a killer musician, and I'm always going to be thankful to consider you a friend. Also, Entragian deserves some credit as well, considering we shared their drummer for most of this year. They have always been our friends and helped us when we were just starting out, so this is just the latest of things we appreciate from them. For that they will always have our utmost respect in the metal community.
So ladies and gentleman, welcome back Duke T McB, and get ready for a more driven and intense Archer than you've ever seen. And remember, I wouldn't even write this letter if it weren't for you.

Sincerely,

Dylan

Archer

Doomsday Profits
Record Label: Duke's Black Rose
Review by Chris Fox @ Maximum Ink music magazine
December 2008

This album will make you want to break out your leather jacket and get a new tattoo.  Shredding, bluesy guitar with the classic heavy metal feel that makes everybody want to go out and buy a motorcycle.  Mixing the vocal styles of JUDAS PRIEST and guitar riffs like the great Toni Iomi, ARCHER manages to create a new resonance for an amazing old sound. No mega death-metal distortion here, just the hard rock overdrive that metal started with. Walking bass lines that resemble DEEP PURPLE and straight up singing rather than the contemporary screaming makes these guys a unique classic sound that has been lost in modern music. An album that will inspire guitarists and have even the most critical cynics nodding their heads.

Hey, You, reader, I(saiah) can't even begin to say how sick Sweden was. SwedenRock Festival was way kickass and we got to meet a bunch of really good people while watching some pretty damn good music. First off, we stayed at a hotel that was like 45 minutes away so every time we went to go rock our asses off, we had to take a party bus with a bunch of Swedes. Pretty chill, I'm not gonna lie; they let you drink in vehicles if you're not driving. Excellent Call. At the festival itself, there was a collection of people who were undoubtedly as diverse as the bands themselves. For the 80's hair metal like Hanoi Rocks, Ratt, and POISON, there were a bunch of trashy dudes n chicks all tattered and teased. For totally epic metal like Ministry and Satyricon, there was definitely corpse make up-ed, caped, spiked, leathered to the max, black haired, pale skined lovers of the dark. There were dudes wearing tight spandex pants or, more commonly, boxers; Chicks with neon pink, green, and orange dreads; super tall, viking to the max hard rockers; midgets clad in Bruce-Dickenson-in-the-80s gear; Patched Jackets; Passed-out-drunk-in-the-middle-of-the-day-in-the-middle-of-a-field-wearing-only-super-short-cut-off-jeans-and-cowboy-boots dudes. Oh and there were totally a bunch of regulars too. I knew this chick over there and since she and all her friends were camping there for the week, we went and partied with them. Which reminds me: Swedish people are super nice. One of the mornings, we were at this rather expansive breakfast buffet just chillin, eatin, and all of a sudden Alex Skolnick, guitar player/genius in Testament, came in with his hair back in a ponytail, super short shorts on, and like, flip-flop sandals. It looked pretty funny and when he was playing later on that day in full rocker gear, I couldn't help but to remember that he looked like a dweeby tourist at breakfast. Classic. One thing that's weird about trying to party in the great white north is that the sun comes up at about, oh, 2:30 in the AM!!! So we'd be all back at the bar in the hotel, shootin the shit with some breezy and all of a sudden it'd be morning. The kind of mind tricks that played on me the first couple nights was pretty twisted. Do I go to bed? Seal the deal? Have another drink and start the day? Hittin the sack was usually the case but getting to the room would take a while; we had unfinished business with the night's drinkin with the locals. Ask us about Lucky Pierre and if you're lucky we'll show you what a french necklace is. ;)
The Show was decent. After 3 days at the festival, jet-lag, long days, and poor nutrition (you'd think we might have needed at least some water), we were beat but anxious to play. One thing that sucked other than an annoying hangover, was the fact that they use different AC plugs than us so i couldn't use my wireless but we still rocked out super hard and we'll be back.
