The following is a forward from the desk of the sleepless Dan Faupel of the Board of Directors. There will be an update very soon on this as well, so stay tuned.

Professional Management Services for IAHA

Over the last few months, the IAHA Board of Directors has collected proposals from several Association Management Companies (AMCs) for assisting IAHA with day-to-day management. They are currently selecting the AMC that best fits the needs of the association. They formed a new committee to carry forth the selection and negotiation process, which includes the following IAHA Directors; Dan Faupel, Tim Gavinski, Brett Bertolino, Jim Smith, Deanna Morton and Jay Wright.

Committee Member Dan Faupel said, "This is a huge step for the association...one that has been talked about and needed for a long time. Professional management services will provide IAHA with some much needed consistency for the association and its members. Most of our directors have attractions that take up a lot of their time, especially during the Halloween season, so it can sometimes be difficult for the directors to consistently find time to donate to the association and its needs. The AMC we hire will not only have to fit into our budget, but having experience with handling the unique needs of an amusement association will be a must."

The committee plans to have an AMC selected and implemented by the start of the new year. The new AMC will provide many services to IAHA Members and the Board of Directors. One of the new things that members can look forward to for 2009 is designated email and phone service where any IAHA Member can call for immediate assistance during business hours. Another area that will get much increased attention is member communications.

This is HUGE and is going to help launch the International Association of Haunted Attractions to the next level in serving the Members!

Edge Designs

We will be at Transworld celebrating our 7 year at the show and our 13th year in business. Look for us in Booth 8208. This year we have concentrated our large animatronics creations into characters that blow high pressure air, smoke, and Sinister Scent smells.

Among the characters is a Clown, Stoker style Vampire, Mummy, Barrel Zombie, Pirate and more. These beautifully crafted effects include Martin Foggers and are plug and go, you only need a compressor.

We are also introducing silicone half face appliances that are pre-painted and ready to wear. Special adhesive is included with each re-usable appliance, 8 styles to choose from.

We are also expanding our line for the ladies with our Weeping Widow Victorian Hats and new Accessory Capes.

As always, don't forget to order "Froggy's Freezin' Fog" for your cemetery / graveyard scene as it has proven over and over to be the low fog of choice for all haunted attractions.

Gore Galore

We know our website has been in need of a facelift for a very long, and it took almost a year, so please check out www.gore-galore.com and let us know what you
think.

Other improvements include a facelift for our Sounds of Gore series. We have been told our SOG series was too homogenous so we gave it a whole new gory look. Each one has an image that ties it to its theme.

We have also finished the "Scream Cube". Almost 5 years in the making, and nothing
compares. We worked on this so long, and finally came to the conclusion that a multi track MP3 based system will work best for us. It is so loud we include a free set of ear plugs with each purchase.

Weapons of Mass Destruction is an innovative oversized line of Hand Held Actor
Weapons like nothing else on the market. Ours aren't real either. With rusty and
bloody hand hammered metal, and bone handles we think you will be impressed.

And we also have many new zombies being turned as we speak, and a couple are
females. We are also adding a few new severed heads to our collection

We have three brand new oversized creature costumes to bring into 2008…and we don't think you will be disappointed.

• Tree beast: a 12' puppet with fully articulated limbs.
• Cathulu costume with moving tentacles standing over 9' tall.
• 10' Scarecrow costume called "Scare O Jack" with a jack-o-lantern head.

We are also bringing something brand new to the industry not seen before. They are life-size character puppets based on the 16th century puppet technique known as Bunraku. We call ours Bunrakboo Puppetry Illusions. These puppets make an unexpected visual impact. The viewer just thinks they are a prop because they are too skinny to be alive except when they lunge forward and grab at you. And when combined with the Scream Cube, well talk about soiling your undees.

We thank you for your support, and don't forget.
Getcha Some Gore!

$89 per person

Tour a new haunted attraction and one of the oldest haunted houses in Ohio

Bus 1 departs the Hyatt hotel at 1:00 pm – then buses depart every 30 minutes

1st stop - Ripper's Revenge, North of Cincinnati.  Produced by 1031 Productions, LLC

This attraction will be a unique opportunity for haunters to see a brand new Oak Island built haunt, at a first class facility.  The haunt will consist of a London style Ripper's area, Vortex tunnel, mirror maze, and clown / carnival area.  This haunt is a sub-attraction of an 80,000 sq, $12 Million facility with model trains, museum, hobby shop, kids play area & 10,000 sq.' fun maze.  We've allocated time to tour the "Enter-Trainment Junction" facility.

2nd Stop - St. Rita Haunted House, Evendale, Oh

For the 33rd consecutive year; the doors at St Rita Haunted House will once again creep open.  Located in the original farm house on the school property, the two story red brick house was constructed in the early 1800's.  It's thought to have been a part of the underground railroad, then later used to house patients from a nearby mental hospital.  You'll feel bone chilling cold spots as you traverse your way through this 20+ room attraction.  This is how Ohio haunted houses were started!

We'll eat dinner after touring the attraction in an air conditioned cafeteria nearby.

Dear IAHA Members,

There's just so much going on with IAHA right now that it's going to be difficult to include it all! If you've ever asked what benefits there are to being an IAHA member, this newsletter should be of great interest to you! I'd also suggest you visit the ABOUT IAHA website page to read a long list of benefits. Believe it or not, while we were all busy with our haunted attractions, the holidays and all our regular daily obligations, the wheels of momentum did not stop turning within IAHA! This newsletter may be long, but I sincerely hope you take the time to read all the incredible things happening in our industry and our association. These are very exciting times to be involved in the Haunted Attraction Industry! On to the news and announcements…

2008 IAHA Member Directory/Buyer's Guide

IAHA is proud to announce a new addition to the annual Membership Directory! A new "Buyer's Guide" section has been added which lists vendors who serve the Haunted Attraction industry. Directory Project Manager, Dan Faupel, said "This new Buyer's Guide will take what was already a valuable resource and make it even better. The IAHA Membership Directory has always been a book that haunter's refer to year-round for information about our members and about our industry. It's certainly a valuable part of IAHA membership." All industry vendors can be listed for free in this Buyer's Guide. Vendors who are members of IAHA receive a free upgrade to their listing. The 2008 IAHA Member Directory/Buyer's Guide will be distributed to current IAHA members starting at the 2008 Transworld National Haunt and Attractions Show in Las Vegas. To submit your company's information for the 2008 book, please email Dan at DanFaupel@aol.com .

This will be one of the best directory's that's been made, and promises to become a fixture on every haunter's office desk. In addition to the free listing, if you are a haunt industry vendor you will definitely want to help your business by advertising in this book! IAHA's advertising rates are the best in the industry, and we will get the word out about your company. Vendors who are members of IAHA save 20% off all advertising rates!!! Please contact Bill Criscione at bill@ghostlymanor.com to reserve your ad space today!

Reminder to Renew Your IAHA Membership!

We've said this before; we have never known the association to be as unified as it is today and to be truly SCREAMING AS ONE! IAHA has gained incredible positive forward momentum and the member benefits just continue to grow and grow! With that in mind, we want to remind you to renew your membership so that you can continue to take advantage of the benefits of IAHA Membership. The following is a letter you should have already received from IAHA Vice President Bill Criscione:

"This is another reminder to those who have not renewed their membership and assuring their name is in the 2008 directory.

We are going to begin purging the current member database for those members who have not yet renewed.  The BOD wishes to thank all our members for being part of our association this past year.  We also thank those that have renewed and will renew in the next couple days.  For those of you that have decided an IAHA membership is not for you at this time, we hope you will reconsider and we respect your decision.  We have a lot of great things happening right now and we hope you keep an open mind to rejoining this great association in the future.

As we purge the system you may find you no longer have access to this list and your membership in IAAPA will also be terminated.  If you have renewed and somehow we missed it (which would never happen :) ... not) please contact me directly and we will take care of it.  My email address is bill@ghostlymanor.com.  Thanks again for all your support!

Bill Criscione

VP – IAHA"

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we're overwhelmed by the showing of interest and support we've experienced this past year. All of your participation, whether it is feedback, suggestions, the contribution of an article, pictures of an event for Scream Zine, or even an email note of support, collectively motivates us and promotes and affects positive momentum. We truly are living in exciting times for the haunted attraction industry. As we continue to work together for the benefit of the greater purpose, we will all realize the potential and rewards together!

The Board of Directors and I would like to again say thanks to each and every one of you for your participation in and contribution to this association!

Onward and upward while paying it forward!

IAHA Members,

With new members coming on board regularly now, I hope we can all use the forum New Creeps on the Block created by Chad to introduce ourselves to one another. For all IAHA members, thank you for being a part of this association! I hope you will participate so that we can continue to move in the positive direction we are headed.

You can find a list of the IAHA board members at http://www.iahaweb.com/contact.html. You can reach me directly at info@eurekascreams.com. We encourage you to get in communication with us and to get involved. Please do make this association YOUR association by participating in whatever capacity you are able. We're always looking for people willing to help on committees. Please, at the very least, take the time to make your voice heard. I can't emphasize enough that the best way for IAHA to truly represent its members is for you to contribute your input, suggestions, ideas and feedback.

It's exciting to be a part of an industry that is experiencing exponential growth and it's equally exciting to be part of an association that is proactively and positively influencing the direction of the haunted attraction industry. There are lots of great things going on in the association right now. Keep an eye on your email for the next IAHA Newsletter I'll be sending out next week, which will include updates and announcements I know you'll enjoy.

Onward and upward while paying it forward!

By Brett Bertolino, Marketing Committee Chair

In the June 2007 Issue of Tourist Attractions & Parks Magazine we take a look at the use of special effects at haunted attractions, including actors, animatronics and lighting. The section includes a feature article by IAHA Director Dan Faupel titled "Actors vs. Animatronics", as well as a "Lightscapeing" article by IAHA Member Burt Zelten.

Because we had so much great content for our June section, that I decided to forgo my usual section intro. to allow for more content. Despite our best efforts, several articles were not included in this section because of space limitations. One of these was a wonderful article recapping the Frozen Tundra Fright Tour by IAHA Member Ben Armstrong. This article is now posted on a new section of our new website: www.IAHAweb.com/news .

Because of space limitations in the Haunted Attraction Section of TAP Magazine, we will debut a new Industry News format in the July/August issue. Instead of featuring full news stories in TAP, we will only feature industry news highlights. Readers will be directed to www.IAHAweb.com/news for the full stories.

I hope you enjoy the June Haunted Attraction Section in TAP.
