In the first episode they talk to LaFaro bassist Herb, who plays some of his bands tracks and some of his favourite local bands.

And So I Watch You From A Far - Debut Double A Side Single

ASIWYFA will release their debut double A-side single on March 16th 2009. The limited seven inch includes the live favourites 'Set Guitars to Kill' and 'A Little Solidarity Goes A Long Way'. Danceable, catchy and groove driven, they bring the ruckus like an instrumental Rage Against The Machine with the heart to match. ASIWYFA are a grinding, booming lurching riff piston with explosive power and mathematical precision. Their self titled debut album is due for release April 13th 2009.

Just thought I'd take this opportunity to do a bit of blatant promotion for our nvtv music podcast.

The latest one features 5 songs by the hugely talented Duke Special filmed in one take from start to finish. All the tracks are taken from his new album and are performed by just himself on piano.

Thanks to the Duke for doing this and also to the guys at Start Together studios who let us use their nice mics and film during the lunch hour one day. Thanks also to Strait Laces who were recording there that day.

To get the podcast, click Kick Out The Jams - NvTv music - NvTv music or there are other ways explained on our myspace profile.

The previous episode featuring the Futureheads proved to be extremely popular so thanks to everyone who downloaded it.

Our next episode will feature a session by New York anti-folk artist Jeffrey Lewis and is well worth checking out.

NvTv also has a documentaries podcast featuring progammes made in Belfast that some of you may find interesting.

If you feel the need to write a wee review on our itunes page, please do.

FREE VIDEO PODCAST -
ACOUSTIC SESSIONS WITH LOCAL BANDS AND INTERNATIONAL STARS LIKE BIFFY CLYRO!!!!!

Northern Irish Music is ready to take on the world. NvTv's 'Kick out the Jams' series is going global and plans to mix the best in local talent with top international bands for all to see for free - through the world of video podcasting.

'Kick out the Jams' is a music show on NvTv (belfast community TV station) which showcases the best in local talent with a few international acts thrown in. Every week the show is dedicated to a different band which in the past have included the likes of Duke Special, Therapy? and The Answer plus international acts (in association with AU magazine) like The Young Knives and The Rumble Strips. The programme is broadcast every tuesday from 12 noon and is repeated every hour or so until the following day.

Now the programme is starting it's very own VIDEO PODCAST which is TOTALLY FREE!!

The idea is to lure global subscribers with top international acts and then to send them some of the best unsigned acts from Northern Ireland to help spread the word about our outstanding music scene.

This weeks programme sees it's biggest band yet - BIFFY CLYRO!! The band recorded a special acoustic session for KOTJ (in association with the good people at AU magazine) when they played the Mandela Hall before christmas, and it will be only available for 3 weeks (from 5th Feb) so get it now!

Following the Biffy episode we will be releasing our session with local post-rock sensations And So I Watch You From Afar! - which will be available from the 12th Feb.

Video Podcasts which are available already include The Fools, The Winding Stair and Cat Malojian, as well as international stars The Rumble Strips (with the help of AU magazine).

Future Podcasts will include the likes of Republic of Loose, Conor Mason and Desert Hearts.

HOW IT ALL WORKS

Each week will see the release of the latest programme (which usually lasts 20-30mins) to the World Wide Web, plus an occasional episode from the archives. You can subscribe for free to the podcast in various ways. If you have iTUNES, simply click on the link below, or simply go to the iTunes store and search for 'Kick out the Jams NvTv'. You will then be able to watch the episode on iTunes or transfer it to your ipod etc
