Arizona-based metal band F5 will be releasing their sophomore effort, "The Reckoning," August 19th via OarFin Distribution. The album was produced by Ryan Greene and reveals a deeper, more complex sound than the band's 2005 debut, "A Drug For All Seasons."

"We went into the recording process for "The Reckoning" with a clear-cut mission," said bassist David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth). "The mission was to make a powerhouse metal record that showcases the world-class playing of F5 while continuing to build upon our melodic abilities."

Staying true to their style of crafting heavy-but-melodic hooks, F5's hard-hitting new disc is, according to Ellefson, "a natural progression for the band."

Though the do-it-yourself attitude has long been a staple of the punk community, more and more artists are taking matters into the own hands. With the future of the music industry in question, some bands have decided to do away with signing to a label altogether, and have found just as much—if not more—success on their own. As one of America’s premier roots-rock groups, the BoDeans are a primary example of this emerging trend. After having released nine records on various major and indie labels over the past 20 years, the Waukesha, WI band decided to form their own label, He & He LP, to put out their new album "Still."

Released on March 4th, "Still" debuted in the Billboard Top 200, and came in at 30 on the Top Independent Albums chart. The record’s first single, "Everyday," has also landed in the top 10 on the Americana charts, and is one of the top 3 most-added songs at Triple A radio. Though the BoDeans have seen this kind of success before, they have now reached these numbers independently by taking advantage of the industry’s current state. Utilizing partnerships with key retailers like Best Buy and Target, as well as doing a six-week nationwide radio and retail promotion tour, has helped facilitate initial sales of "Still," and an upcoming headlining tour will further support the album.

To ensure the business side of He & He runs smoothly, the BoDeans have enlisted the services of several industry professionals, aiming to maximize "Still’s" success. With indie firms like OarFin, Koch, Under The Radar, Songlines and Moxie Star handling various aspects of distribution, radio promotion, publicity and marketing, the label—and thus, the band itself—is able to retain control. After decades of having their career dictated by others, the BoDeans are finally in the driver’s seat, and are proving that D.I.Y. isn’t just for punks anymore.

Roots-rock group the BoDeans are touring this spring in support of their new album "Still," which will be out March 4th. The first leg of the tour kicks off at SXSW in Austin, TX, and will cover the eastern part of the country. The group plans to visit the western half of the U.S. in a forthcoming second leg of the tour early this summer.

"Still" is the eighth studio album from the BoDeans, and the band are releasing it via their own record label, He & He LP, with distribution through Koch. The disc was produced by T-Bone Burnett and features 12 new tracks full of the heartfelt lyrics, passionate harmonies, and ringing guitars they have become known for. The album's first single, "Everyday," is currently impacting Triple A radio as the band are wrapping up a national radio tour.

Since their inception in 1983, the BoDeans have had eight albums in the Billboard Top 200 and multiple singles in the Top 40. They were named "Best New Band" by Rolling Stone magazine in 1987, and also gained national exposure by touring with U2 that same year. Their hit song "Closer To Free" became the theme to Fox's "Party Of Five" in the mid-'90s, and was one of the most played songs at radio in 1996.

"Still" will be available March 4th nationally at Target, Best Buy, Borders, Barnes & Noble, FYE, Circuit City and all fine independent retailers across the U.S.

High-energy pop-rock duo Oh No Not Stereo are busy tracking their second full-length album in not one, but four different studios in their hometown of Los Angeles. The band is handling their own production, but have enlisted an impressive team comprised of Jim Wirt (Incubus, Live, Something Corporate) to assist with instrumentation; Max Coane (Jack's Mannequin, The Rocket Summer, The Bronx) to assist with production; and Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard, Everclear) to mix the record.

With a total of 15 tracks expected to make the cut, Oh No Not Stereo have found themselves heading in a slightly-new direction on their sophomore effort. The heavy use of pianos throughout the record, as well as the addition of a full quartet on nine of the songs, suggests the end result will likely be described as melodic rock—with a twist of timelessness.

As one of 12 bands recently chosen out of over 4,000 to compete in MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout contest, Oh No Not Stereo are deservingly turning heads. The duo's D.I.Y. ethic has left them feeling optimistic about once again being free agents since freshly dissolving their contract with Takeover Records. "We're doing this all on our own, and we couldn't be happier about it," said frontman Skyler Nielsen.

Oh No Not Stereo are anticipating a first quarter 2008 release date for their new LP. Check out www.ohnonotstereo.com or www.myspace.com/ohnonotstereo for more information.

Milwaukee-based rapper Baby Drew is gearing up for the release of his third album, "Free," which is set to drop September 11th via U Digg Records and OarFin Distribution. The disc features appearances from Pimp C (of UGK), Chamillionaire, Bun B, Mario, Young Stally, and Playboy D, among others. "Hogz In Tha House," a song that shows Baby Drew's dedication to the street, is projected to be the record's first single.

With "Free," Baby Drew has made his return, and this time it's with a vengeance. Though the rapper's style and intense tone remain the same as that exemplified on his previous releases, he has lyrically reached a whole new level. Calling himself a "street representative," Drew attributes his new lyrics to living on and watching the street.

As someone with a distinctive voice, Baby Drew hopes to reach a broader, more universal audience with his music. Both his debut and sophomore effort were successful locally, but Drew is now poised for nationwide recognition.

If You Could Only Keep Me Alive

Celtic pop-punk group Slide Show Baby are gearing up for the release of their self-titled debut album, which will be out through Moriath Records on June 26th. The record was produced by label owner Kirk McLeod, the front man of Celtic rock group Seven Nations, and will feature 11 genre-bending tracks.

Slide Show Baby hails from Nashville, Tennessee, but is not the typical bluegrass band that one might expect from the city. Instead, the four-piece uses bagpipes, mandolin, fiddle, and button accordion to create a sound that mixes Celtic rock with emo, pop, punk and folk. "Long, Long Road," a high energy song of that musical blend, is forecasted to be the first single off the new album.

Comprised of four young guys between the ages of 18 and 21, Slide Show Baby have experience beyond their years. The youngest member, lead singer/songwriter Will MacMorran, is somewhat a of man of many trades, having mastered six different instruments and having played at several Highland Games across the United States. The three other members, Victor Gagnon (fiddle), Sean McWilliams (bass), and Bob Zuclich (drums) follow in line, all being skillful at their instruments of choice.
