Freedom Jazz Radio is one of Live365's most popular Nostalgic Stations. That being said, we have an offer for independent artists looking to get on our playlist.

Once a year we air "A Winter Wonderland" on FJR, featuring Christmas Standards and Choral Arrangements, and you can get your stuff played!

Rules:
Your submission  must not be "elevator jazz". We accept Classic, Standard, and Big Band but will give anything a listen and consider it (outside of elevator jazz). Covers get first consideration, however that's not to say we won't play originals. However, they must be Holiday Oriented.

Bear in mind the leanings of the station. The majority of the music we play was inspired either during the great depression or WWII.

If you recorded this in your basement with an old cassette player with built in mic, don't submit. Production quality must be stellar.

If you are interested, please send us a message.

Thanks and Good Luck!

Dear Editor:

Live365 agrees with John Simson's 8/7/08 call "to fairly compensate artists for the use of their work." We've been doing so since day one, paying out millions in royalties to SoundExchange who claims to represent artists.

What we object to is the very lack of the "fairness" that Simson calls for. INTERNET RADIO pays the highest royalty of any form of radio, often 50% or more of their revenues. Yet, cable and satellite radio pay around 7% of their revenue and as Simson points out, AM/FM pays nothing.

As a result, during the 12 months following the exorbitant March 2007 royalty rate increase, Live365 experienced a decline of 40%, or nearly 600 million broadcast performances. If Simson is concerned about "fairness," he should start by playing fair with Internet radio. It will do his artists good.

Sincerely,
N. Mark Lam

After 4 great years on Live365, Freedom Jazz Radio has gone silent.

While we believe we were successful at what we did, which was providing a virtual time capsule to the Golden Era, we could not compete with professional stations such as Big Band Universe.

We are sad to do this, but insist it is not permanent. Until we are better resourced to compete with those who's funding is channeled directly into the station while our funding is SPLIT between sources, we will remain off the air. FJR WILL one day return. Until then, we save out nickles and dimes and maybe try to secure sponsorship to take our innovative programming to the next level.

Yours,

FJR Team and

VINCE WYLDE
