After 10 days out on the road on the Friends of New Orleans tour with The Voices of Wetland All-Stars, The Meters, The Soul Rebels, Henry Butler, and many more, I'm finally back home. The tour was amazing. Being on stage with musicians like Anders Osborne, Tab Benoit, Donald Harrison, Kirk Johnston, was humbling. We started the tour in Denver for the Democratic National Convention, then hopped over to Aspen to play The Belly Up, then up to Jackson Hole, and ended in Minneapolis for the RNC.

This show was the show of all shows for New Orleans music and I was honored to be a part of it.

Enjoy the photos I put up of the show!

Hey, all my new friends and fans from Insignia. I wanted to give a shout out to you all and thank you for making my cruising experience an incredible one. Those nights playing for you in Martinis were some of the most memorable nights on the cruise (latin dance club in Dubrovnik was pretty fierce too). I'm so glad you all enjoyed my music and I hope you all keep in touch and are reminded of our fun nights when you hear my songs!

Ciao famiglia insignia!

I wanted to let y'all know that August 24th, I'll be in Denver playing during the Democratic National Convention. The details aren't worked out yet, but I'll let you know what's going down once I find out. Hopefully, there will be a live feed or recording of the performances. i'll make sure and post it if I can.

I know that over the past few months, I haven't been as active on myspace as I used to be - but I wanted to touch base with all of you who have emailed me in my absence and let you know that I've been writing continuously and look forward to letting you hear music soon.

I have also been traveling to Nashville over the past few months, meeting with publishers and other writers. It's really inspiring to be in a city that is devoted to the craft of writing songs. It's really humbling.

Ok, well I'll talk to you soon and will be sure and post new music soon!

Ciao, Lauren

I've been in Nashville for two days and I love it! Everybody is so nice and supportive. So, Thursday night was a pitch to publisher night, and my song got picked! I'm really excited - it was good start to the trip. Tonight I played at the lounge attached to my hotel - The Hall of Fame Lounge - they asked me to come back and play tomorrow night too! I have a couple more shows while I here that will be great - one at the Bluebird and one at Blue Bar.

I've met some amazing songwriters while I've been here and even have done some co-writing. I'm just in love with this town.

Oh, I also met this wonderful lady named Shirley Gorgorian - "the hug lady." She is the cutest thing in the world and has done an amazing thing. She has documented every hug she's gotten for...well, for a long time - she's up to 38,000 hugs or more. It was so neat to see everyone at the Nashville Songwriters Association come up to her with a hug and say "ok, that's 37 for me - write it down." I, of course, had to give her a hug and get a picture. I'm officially in her book!

Alright, that's it for now...more to come from Nashville (my new favorite city!)

After almost five weeks away, I'm finally back in LA for good. right after the tour, i took two weeks to gather myself, collect my thoughts, and recoup. i went to napa, ca and warwick, ny (both were amazingly beautiful!). I have to say though, there is nothing like coming back to homebase.

so, for all of you asking "where the hell are you, you never sign on anymore?", I'm officially back and starting to plan my next tour. I haven't quite figured out where I'll do it yet (though after visiting those two places Northern Cali and New York are sounding pretty good).

i'll keep you posted. don't forget to come by and say hi..i swear it won't take me two weeks to get back to you this time!

love,

L

Ok, so I've been slacking. I've been meaning to catch y'all up on the tour, but time seems to run away from me. I'm now in Louisiana, after a great trip through Texas. I had a sudden turn of events when Ben had to leave the tour in Dallas, but the shows subsequently have been great. I've had such an outpouring of support in each city I've visited.

It's so nice to see people/fans from myspace show up. I wasn't sure what to expect, in terms of myspace attendance, but it's been great! I had one girl drive from College Station to Waco with like eight of her friends.

So, I'll be uploading some pics tomorrow from the tour so far. Check back manana.

lots of love,

lauren

Well, it's my first official publicity of the tour. Check out my write up in Guide Live, part of the Dallas Morning News:

If you're in Dallas, definitely come out and say hi.

Current mood:  calm

I wanted to express how cool last night's show was for me at Borders in Pico Rivera. Our PA went out before the show started, so we ended up having to do an "unplugged" "unplugged" show. I've never sung in public without a mic and at first I was getting freaked out about whether people would be able to hear me, whether the guitars would be too loud over the vocals, and whether it would just all in all sound good. I was pleasantly surprised by the outpour of kind words after the show. I know I felt the connection to the audience more than I ever had before and I was glad to hear the people listening felt the same way!

I figured out last night, that the mic can almost act as barrier between me and the audience. WIthout it, it was like giving a performance on my couch in my living room - just bare and open.

I just wanted to thank everyone who was there for sticking around even with all the technical difficulties - I'm glad to hear that it was worth it!
