All news on brick lane bike polo is going to start going up on http://bricklanebikepolo.wordpress.com/ as opposed to here, because I hate these myspace blogs. The myspace page will still exist for friends etc. but all the news won't be here.

Reports and pix of the tournament will be going up on the new blog soon.

The first annual Bicycle Film Festival Polo Championship is coming to London!

On the 21st/10/2007 players from around the country (and abroad) will converge on the court at 11am (corner of Brick Lane & Shacklewell Street E2) for a day of competitive games with lots of prizes to be won.

Entry is free and teams looking to enter should email - polo [youknowwhatgoeshere] bicyclefilmfestival.com - as soon as possible. Teams should have 3 players (please let us know if you are bringing substitutes as well). Ideally each team should nominate someone to referee a game . As soon as we have the rules typed up we will email them to you. If your team needs somewhere to stay over night you should let us know as well. If you would like to play but don't have a team - let us know, we are looking to match up people without a team.

If possible please bring your own bikes and mallets, we should have enough mallets for games to be played but its always good to have spares. We are planing on having a few spare bikes for people to play on, but its best if people don't rely on this option.

What else? Well there's going to be a few open to all beginner sessions for people who just want to have a go. Half time entertainment will take the form of entertainment from dancing bicycle troupe The Spokes from Manchester, and a track-stand competition.

The day will end with prize-giving at the Dragon Bar, 5 Leonard Street, EC2A 4AQ.

I was away two Sunday's ago, but heard some good games were played. Sunday was definitely cool, another good turn out for a summery Sunday. Wednesday night we managed to squeeze a few games in before it got too dark.

Anyway the important news is that the polo tournament is coming soon, very soon. October 21st - Brick Lane, the final details haven't been quite decided but its definitely going to be fun. Watch this space for more info about the event, in the meantime, tell all your friends.

Must have been near 30 people playing and hanging around on Sunday afternoon at polo. Lots of new faces and our first (i think!) 5 a-side game which was just hilarious really. If you didn't make it down check out this crappy cam phone vid and have a gander at some snaps....

Ps... lotsa fun at the alleycat Friday night.... look here for results and route.

Wednesday people showed up but so did the rain. We didn't play. The forecast for Sunday is looking good though. We really need to find an alternative inside (winter) venue, if anyone has any ideas - answers on a postcard please.

If you are around Friday night, check this out...

Wednesday rain, wind and general crapness meant play was called off - well it never even started.

Sunday the weather will be great though and check out some new photo's from last Sunday - http://www.flickr.com/photos/rakan/tags/bikepolo/

If you are around on Saturday night you might want to come on this ride - http://www.londonfgss.com/discussion/830/7/the-bridges-ii-saturday-night-ride-18th-august

Around 25-30 people came down to Brick Lane on Sunday afternoon for beer, beigels and of course lots of bike polo. We played till around 7pm and the only casualties were a couple of buckled wheels and a shattered mallet head.

It was great to see a lot of new faces and people who had never played before getting involved. Perhaps it would be a good idea to get some 'new people only' games going on if there are enough around to encourage new comers to get used to the game without having the challenge of more experienced players on the court at the same time.

Anyway, see you tomorrow evening 7pm onwards for a mid week session.

Three pix from Phillippe who happened to be passing by and took some snaps.

Thomas Brickell also has some flickr shots up.

A few more are on facebook.

Lastly keep an eye on beatznbobbz's polo tag for cool photos which pop up there now and then.

Let me know if you find anymore!
