today i was browsing the music page of myspace for my own entertainment, and i notice A Change of Pace was finaly coming out with a new album very soon.
I have been a fan of this band for about a year and have always been excited about them. Something in their lyrics always fascinated me and i couldnt wait for them to move forward with a new album. I was especially proud when they were picked to play a few dates on warped tour confirming my feelings that they could be a big thing in the near future.
but when i clicked on their page i was horrified with what i heard.
Instead of the quick guitars and hard lyrics...i heard a Fall Out Boy knock off.
i have no problem with bands hitting it big. In fact i hope every band i enjoy makes it to MTV and late night TV. what bothers me is when bands change their style to match whats popular the moment or what the main sceen is doing just to cash in.
its selling out
fuck that

Today is MLK day, there are a few days I try to remember the great revolutionaries and activists that came before I was born and this is one of them.
To know why the world today is you must know the voices that protested against the world they lived in. You must know what was wrong and what has been done. You must know how they fought and how they won….or lost. Each was looking to leave a mark, to right a wrong seeded deep in society or culture, to speak for those who have no voice.
In this day there are no revolutionary minds, only those content to complain. Those content to say “look at that, I wish it would stop. Im sure it will someday” When will my generation get a voice? A guiding hand to unite us with one idea. For our parents it was Lennon, for South America it was “Che,” for the civil rights movement is was King and for our fore fathers it was Pain.
I am not that voice…
But I will remain a soldier till the war is won

When ever I want a good laugh I just go to my fav bands profile and see some of the comments that are put there. Sometimes it’s entertaining and other times it depresses me that I have similar tastes as these kids.
Take this guy from death cab….
http://www.myspace.com/scotty_beethe
I’m scared I know him threw the band; my rep is hurt just by closeness. What the hell is this kid doing? Because of him I might have to change my opinion on DCFC and possibly kill my self. Who knew you could look so dorky and think you are the shit! Note his favorite music; he caps THE BEATLES to make sure u know he likes them. Also he has chosen yellow as his background to prove how masculine he is.
Another prime example is http://www.myspace.com/missashleyelizabeth
I found this amazing girl on the My American Heart page; you could not be stranger if you tried. What the hell is she doing? I feel like I need a shower knowing that she is listening to them right now. I think the highlight of her page is the AIM convos she has deemed important enough to keep example (none of this is edited)….
RavenNMare: ur jusst mad cuz the little voices talk to me and not you iLOVEmyBaTMaNx3: haha iLOVEmyBaTMaNx3: tank you kelly, u rock much ((not like u didnt b4)) RavenNMare: aww thanx ash ur welcome and u rox soo much 2

Current mood: pleased
Slowly going crazy in Middle America. What the hell kind of world am I living in? An even better question might be what kind of world did I leave behind in the golden state, the place of Californication and Elvis Presley movies? As far as I can tell it would be a different one, much different then the white bread cookie cutter world I have fallen into and that my loathsome cousin enjoys so much. I don’t know if I am Alice in wonder land or if I am Dorothy slowly wakening up in a Kansas farm house with no place to go but no where. A place where the clocks tick and the snow falls and everyone is just floating threw life with there own worries, not to be confused with everyone else which are far less important. Who knows theses things anymore, I mean we all want to be a Alice at some point don’t we? Chasseing that rabbit threw a very cool world of talking cats and hookah smoking caterpillars, what could be a better day dream? Not a whole lot, take it from the kid who thinks about these things…
Who knows what I’m talking about anyways…

Current mood: enthralled
Category: Music
With my I pod out of comishion the rest of the world seemes to be in slow motion to me, Every motion every step is magnified and i dont know if thats a good thing.
For a guy who claims to notice everything...actualy seeing everything with out a sound tract is slightly un-setteling.
For one thing it give me more of a chance to anazlize it all, a chance to see the short girl strugeling to keep up with the guy she likes all the while trying to hide her exccitement that he is talking to her. A chance to notice the smooth and confident gate of the jock on his way to another gen ed class. A chance to see the grass changeing colors slowly in the cold air and warm sun. A chance to see how others close them selves off from the world with head phones firmly jacked into their head. A chance to actualy see and feel this world of ours.

Current mood: blah
I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day. Vincent Van Gogh
The light from a street lamp cast threw a grove of trees is a beauty I will never ceases to be amazed with.
The flickering of tail lights fading into the distance on a journey witch may or may not be completed.
The kiss goodbye under the moon, without konwing when you will see her again, so sweet and yet…so sad. All of it accented by the moons warm glow and comforting embrace.
The night is by far the better part of the day…

Current mood: melancholy
Everyone knows that there is no such thing as two snow flakes that are exactly the same. This is slightly ironic because every human being fancies them self a pretty little snowflake. Different form everyone eless, special, unique, one of a kind, treasured, noticed, exciting, different. No matter how much we want to believe this we all know deep down that its not true, but its worth trying for isn’t it?
The fashion companies certainly think so. After all, the see you the latest new trends from New York and Paris claiming that they will set you apart, make you alone the individual that everyone envies for you’re creativity and distinctiveness. They spend hundreds of dollars on “unique” and “retro” fashions that are readily available in any store in any mall in the United States.
Like Star Bucks and the other million dollar companies that control the nations industry, the point is not to be an individual but to lead the life of one. Become what everyone so longs to be. That is what they are selling, not T shirts and coffee but the parts to become a snowflake that is more, special, unique, one of a kind, treasured, noticed, exciting, different then the rest. And for the right price anyone can be that in America…the land of dreams.

Went for a walk tonight didnt turn out how I expected but I liked it none the less
Living in suburbia kind of takes the thrill out of walks I have noticed. Got me thinking about how the world is shut off from nature or how we tend to ignore it.
There is a little creek that runs past out house, I stood on the cement path that fallows it and wondered how that lone peace of nature could be adequately observed and honored form such a cold walk way. And then I took a step back and noticed that it wasnt even a creek anymore, It had become a selling point for the lots that backed up to it. A conversation starter as a preface to a back yard BBQ. And this thought was surprisingly sad to me for an unknown reason.
I figure nature is not there merely to be looked at. Its not a painting on a wall.

Current mood: excited
As much of the edge as one can live on in suburbia while still living in you’re parents house. Ohh well I still like to feel like im towing the line…
I bombed a hill to day that was so steep my wheels were hot to the touch when I got off them.
The hill in question (which consequently is the one I broke my thumb on) is know as Kamikaze ridge in the community and is often frequented by sleds in the winter; but to my knowledge this was the first time a long boarder had tried it.
That was the fastest I have yet to go on my board I would say its was at a good 35mpr and rising even with me carving 90 degree lines in the pavement. At one point a kid walked in front of me giving both of us a great thrill to say the least.
The rush was so unbelievable only snow boarders, surfers and long boarders can understand how you feel going down a hill like that. I have never felt so free in my life.
