A Loss For Words
"The Kids Can't Lose"
'These kids have been trudging along in the industry for far too long holding out for what seems to be an unfathomable reason. Still unsigned and touring this country on their own steam the boys of A Loss For Words don't need the help from big brother bands like Four Year Strong anymore. Just listen to songs like album opener "Stamp of Approval" and track 2 "40 Theives" to squash any misfires of their previous efforts. This is Pop Punk at it's finest. Quick as shit, catchy as hell, and enough energy to power your hand held Tiger videogames for the rest of your life. (BM)'

Stamp Of Approval Don't let the truth misguide you. You'll never
know her true intentions and all the fear that hides inside you. Thrown
headfirst into submission, pray for the day that you can save your
place in line. Trade in your faith, your beliefs. Trade everything to
see your name in lights. She sold her soul to the State of California.
It's no surprise she thinks she's calling the shots. She sold her sold
to the State of California. They'll take you and make you into
everything you said you're not. You got to stand up for yourself, fight
for what you believe. They'll leave you bloodied, bruised and broken
before you even know they're through. They feed you lines like, "Girl
you are one of a kind. One day the seas will
part for you." But I've seen so many other girls who all dress and
drink and screw the way you do. Check the headlines everyday. Will your
name be proudly on display? They make, they break people like us.
Another soul lost in the haze. Another story for the back page. They
make, they break people like us. I'm just a casualty of fair play. Will
the west coast be enough? Will it ever be enough?
40 Thieves Do you ever feel yourself blinded by the neon lights,
hanging on only to hang on? You shuffle day to day to be lost up in the
fray, and your only saving grace is barely saving face. Time goes on
and I wonder will we make a stand. All we want is to make it out alive, keep our feet in marching time. This is all that we
know. All you want is to meet life's expectations. Its all you want and
its all you'll ever know. Don't fall asleep to that lullaby they sing.
You hum along intently. This used to be ours and it can be that great
again. We're just mannequins and models for the next big thing that they will push on you. Will we make it through this life unscarred? Do we even want to? Do we even have a choice? Did you get what I meant when I said, "We are the Living Dead?" Maybe the ego is all mine. I pray it's not all the time. All we want is to make it out alive.
Where I'm From, You Die With Your Secrets Close down the blinds
and shut off the quiet world on the outside. Plaster on a fake smile,
so they won’t see the bruises you hide. She’s the only one with a say.
Her face is blank like a chalkboard, and we’ll erase it like everyday, a parachute with no ripcord. Falling down, falling down into a world that we both don't know. Don't open the blinds. That tired old vaudeville act keeps going on outside. We
won't see the signs. Life would be better if you would just die. It
only hurts for the first time, and then you’re numb to the pain.
Indecision is just too close when your reflection just isn't the same.
Can you still be strong and will you sacrifice? Now there's no ground
to stand on and there's no room to breathe.
Hold Your Breath Can you glance at me one more second before you walk out that door? When miles are standing in my way, feeling like a zombie everyday, those tired eyes will always get me home. She said, "Let's drive like we are
the only ones on the road tonight." You don't have to look and hold
your breath. Return and you will find me. If somehow I should forget,
I'll have this song to remind me. With one hand pinned to your chest
and the other grasping mine, do you swear a solemn oath? Never forget
these moments, never comfort them with lies. Always keep them locked at
home. Don't believe a word they say to you when you're feeling less
than whole.
Mount St. Joseph How can you sit there in your room like a caged
up refugee? Barely alive and all worn out with the fake plastic trees.
Is it the only thing that makes you feel like life has meaning? The
scars are tattooed down your arms. All we wait for is everything that used to matter. Now all that's left is our hope and battle scars. All we wait for is everything that used to matter. It's too damn hard to watch you fall apart. What are
you trying to find driving late with no headlights? When you go down
that road you can never go home again. Can't lie around all day, blood
and bone and tooth decay. Down here, you know, no one ever survives. I
remember the day the scent crept out under your door. They found you
three days later. You were buried under your sheets. It was too damn
hard to watch as heaven and hell held you down like anchors, and your
demons finally lulled you back to sleep. Joey, you let them get to you.
How could you be so careless? Can you hear us from where you are?
