5th Annual Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) Celebration: Saturday, October 24, 2009 @ 7 pm.

Contact me at info@puravidaart.com if you wish to submit art for sale for our annual Day of the Dead Celebration. All art must follow the Day of the Dead theme, be ready to hang, available for sale, and original.

About Day of the Dead:
From mid-October through the first week of November, markets and shops all over Mexico and many other Latin-American countries are replete with special accouterments for this wonderful celebration which culminates on November 1st with a lively reunion at the cemetary.

Based on the belief that the souls of the dead return, this holiday is a time of happiness, remembering, and much feasting. Items used to celebrate include all manner of skeletons including edible sugar skulls and skull bread; intricate tissue paper cut-outs called papel picado; elaborate wreaths and crosses decorated with paper or silk flowers; candles; incense; and food and pictures for the altars.
