and still not the final cut, but getting closer..

(viewing copy)

I was invited by the A Foundation to respond to a footnote of the Rhizome chapter of Deleuze and Guatari. This was for their second TAXED event, a series of events stolen from other events..

..after reading Deleuze and having had cause to consider rhizomes, dipoles, arborescent forms.. formal thought and more...

I thought about translation, as I tried to translate this text into something that resonates, I thought about a tale I have long wanted to tell and about images that I have for a long time wanted to make into a film reminiscent of La Jetee.

Dipoles seemed to describe the relationship I see between these images and the tale. A dictionary definition of dipoles is this: a pair of equal and oppositely charged or magnetized poles separated by a distance.
From there I departed into translating a tale in layers of language and image. Deleuze then faded into the invisible fabric of the work.

I don't know why, but today's fruit salad is just delicious!

(An outstanding one in my 4 week old regime to have a fruit salad a day, and always a huge one, with at least 4 different fruit and some seeds, and of course pecan nuts!)

June the 7th is best fruit salad of the year day! Accompanied by a splash of G. Love 'Lemonade'

Ah and now some Michael Franti 'Is Love Enough?'

(a rough abstract)

"In or Out with Parakeets?"
An exercise in association and human-societal reflection...
A contemplation of journey and arrival of others, on a mission, on vacation..
Capital Cities, in this case London, such a place of interest for so many on holiday, on business,
London a focus for so many for economic necessity or leisure pleasure.
London a place of transit but also chosen or accidental residence.
First point of call, the pay as you go residence: the hotel; for those of lesser means the park.

"Invasion of the parakeets
(Independent Newspaper)
By Michael McCarthy, Environment Editor
Thursday, 22 March 2007

It's been a case of pretty polly up to now, but it may not be for much longer. Government scientists are to investigate the activities of the flocks of rose-ringed parakeets breeding in London's suburbs, amid rising fears that they may be harming native British bird species.

The brilliant green parakeets have hitherto been a popular sight in the parks and gardens where they are to be found, squabbling and dashing from tree to tree, in a broad swath of south London from Croydon in the east to Esher and beyond in the west.
But since they first began breeding in the wild more than 40 years ago, their numbers have built up to a point where now some ecologists fear their population is exploding, with potentially damaging results. It is feared that the parakeets, which nest in holes and crevices in trees, may be displacing British tree-nesting species such as woodpeckers, nuthatches and starling.
..."

My personal experience is one of felt transit, certain freedom but at the expense of susceptibility to the changes in climate; in my instance this is the economic climate. The parakeets, so adaptable in nature, so apparently content and confident, attracted to the capital 'vibe', infiltrate the city, make their home, to the pleasure of some, the nuisance of others. I enjoy the joie de vivre of the parakeets, their exotic appearance and confidence that livens up the scene..
