Current mood: accomplished
Could we have asked for anything more last Saturday? Nope.
Incredible original music all day, BMX riders flying thru the air, thousands and thousands of people in attendance, food grilling, beer flowing and the sun gave us 80+ degrees all day.
Pictures and more info to come...but for now just enjoy the summer and remember that we'll be working hard on the 2010 Summer Soulstice event sooner than you think. So let us know what you loved about the 09 installment, what could've been different and what you'd like to see next year.
Big thanks to the bands who make this event what it is...without their talent and creativity this would just be another day of people sucking back beers on the street.
And of course an extra super sized, double fisted thanks to all who came, saw and heard...we hope you went home happy you made it.
Cheers!

Technically our event is officially a day earlier than the actual start of summer...so sue us for being anxious. But we've got an incredible day of music, food, features and beer planned for you - we can't wait.
The forecast is even supposed to cooperate for once this year...right now it looks like 80+ and sunny.
Perhaps best of all...this talented lineup is absolutely FREE.
West Stage:
3:00 - Jake Jendusa & The Dead Men
4:30 - Loose Cannons
6:00 - The Lackloves
8:00 - Invade Rome
9:30 - THE VON BONDIES
East Stage:
2:30 - 2nd Thought
4:00 - The Buskers
5:30 - Juniper Tar
7:30 - The Ike Reilly Assassination
9:30 - FEVER MARLENE
OTHER features of the day:
12:00 to 5:00 - American Apparel & Urban Outfitters sale
12:00 to 5:00 - Rage in the cage Dodgeball tournament
12:30 to 4:00 - Division BMX stunt riders
So be there with us...or wait till next week and pay $18 to get into the other summer music event, cough up $6 per beer and stand in ridiculous bathroom lines. Your call.
Cheers!

This Saturday all the hard work of the spring will pay off when you see what the day holds for you:
- A powerhouse music lineup with all midwest-based bands, including The Ike Reilly Assassination, Fever Marlene and The Von Bondies
- Skill at work with the Division BMX Stunt team - an elite group of professional BMX bike riders who put on a mighty demonstration of dexterity, talent and cojones.
- Plenty of stuff to do when you're not listening to music, like trying to drill friends and strangers in our Rage In The Cage Dodgeball tournament, shop, drink beer and some of the best people-watching around (you like to judge people...admit it...)
It's all this Saturday, June 20th - North Ave, East Side in Milwaukee.
Cheers!

A LOOK BACK...A LOOK AHEAD...
The 2008 Summer Soulstice Music Fest delivered on everything we could've hoped for. Perfect weather (even the brief cloud burst was the perfect amount of cloud and cool), Fast Freddy's air guitar demos and the best free lineup of any music fest in the city. I mean, come on...Revolush? Jayk? QUIETDRIVE? Local H? Let's not forget Milwaukee's own Northern Room (r.i.p. ...sniff).
For the day we clocked in at over 12,000 in attendance by all estimations and sales, making this the most successful Summer Soulstice to date. So...how do we top that?
Better local music still, more activities and more unexpected.
We're currently creating the music lineup for Saturday, June 20, 2009...and the prospects are looking phenom. BUT, if you're a band looking to shower some musical genius on the outdoor scene here, message kevin@freighttraincreative.com for more info. We'll be solidifying the lineup over the next several weeks.
So stay warm, and stay tuned for more about the 2009 Milwaukee Summer Soulstice Music Fest.
Cheers!

That pretty much sums up Saturday: Wow.
The weather held up its end of the bargain and gave us a great day to play...the beer was flowing...the food was tasty...and the music that we were all so excited about did NOT disappoint. A big fat huge thanks to all the bands for the energy and talent they brought to each stage and every performance. Our lineup will be the envy of every festival this summer.
So...what was your favorite part of the event? What bands did you see? Did you discover a new favorite band?
We'll be posting numbers and a final wrap report from the event...every indication was that expectations were all surpassed. If you took any pictures and are willing to share, please email them to kevin@freighttraincreative.com.
Thank you all for attending and celebrating the longest day of the year with us.
Cheers

Current mood: optimistic
By all accounts, this Saturday should be rockin'.
We have Local H. We have Quietdrive. We have Northern Room, Revolush, Jayk, The Saltshakers...and then we have an entire stage dedicated to people playing other people's music. Literally something for everyone in terms of musical tastes.
As if that's not enough, there's a full day of activities planned. Dodgeball, burrito eating, big funny inflatables, tasty grub, beers, babes, guys and...if you believe the widget...mostly sunny skies with a high around 75º.
Come on widgets...be right this time!
