REVIEWS FOR JENNY SINCALIR'S CARPENTERS TRIBUTE CD "ONE MORE TIME"

CD Review from Yuka Ogura   - (Japan)
Editor of the Carpenters book "the Mook".
Yuka is a Carpenters specialist in Yokohama, Japan.

"I love Jenny's choice of Carpenters' songs on this album. There are a number of tribute albums on Carpenters made in the past, and Jenny's enthusiasm and her deep love for their music does not compare with anybody else's. My very favorite Carpenters tribute song has been what Janis Segel ( of Manhattan Transfer fame) has done. Her rendition of "Crescent Noon" recorded for a Japanese release was superb. Now Jenny added one more song on my "very favorite tribute song" which is "One More Time". I saw Carpenters at Budokan, Tokyo in 1976. They performed "One More Time". It is such a none commercial, very quiet song, I never thought they would perform it live. It still resonates in me and Jenny gives me the exact same feeling I felt when I heard it live by Karen at Budokan.

When I first listened to her "Sweet Child of Mine", tears came down from my eyes. It sounded so much like Carpenters' new song. It seemed as though Karen came down from heaven just to record this one last new song with Richard. It sounded exactly like what I have been dreaming for over two decades. You can laugh at me by my saying this, but Jenny made my dream come true, and what a wonderful feeling that was, thus my tears. The song is arranged in a very "Carpenteresque" way and at the same time the emotion she reveals in the song is very much her own which also touches my heart.

And the very best part is; she is not trying to be Karen. She just naturally sings like her! When you hear somebody trying to be Karen, you hear it. And I do not like it. As I have listened to Carpenters songs zillion's of times, I know Karen's exact phrasings. If somebody is trying to sing like Karen, I would like to hear it exactly like her. I mean EXACTLY. Jenny is the very first singer I have heard who does it in breeze which tells me she had also listened to their songs a zillion times. This album is a heartfelt dedication to Carpenters from a very enthusiastic fan who just happened to be a great singer also." - Yuka Ogura

CD Review Linda Phillips.   - (U.K.)
Fund-raising Manager at Cerebral palsy Care.
Cerebral palsy Care, Bradbury House, View Road, Cliffe Woods, Nr. Rochester, Kent, ME3 8UJ

"Dear Jenny
The new Carpenters Tribute CD Is absolutely great, Your voice sounds more like Karen Carpenter each time I hear it. I played it for my daughter Sarah, who as you know is blind and she thought it was a Carpenters CD.

The New version of Sweet Child of Mine is very good it bought tears to my eyes, as a mother of a disabled daughter the words are so moving and really sums up the way you feel about these precious children.

As fundraising Manager of CPC I have to raise £220,000 every year in order that we keep the Learning Centre for Disabled Children running as we get no government funding. We rely on fundraising events and the help and generosity of Jenny Sinclair, who wrote this very special song and by donating £1 from every album sold on this website helps me reach my target. So I would like to thank Jenny For her writing and singing talents and for thinking about Cerebral Palsy Care." - Linda Phillips, Fund-raising Manager

CD Review from Terry McManus.   - (Canada)
Past President of the Songwriter's Association of Canada.

"The CD you have in your hands happened because of a dream and a wish; Jenny Sinclair's dream and her fans wish. What makes this album exciting is that rather than being just another "sound alike" artist, Jenny brings her own unique vocal quality and interpretive difference to these songs that makes her performances just as compelling in their own way as the originals. The continuing popularity of The Carpenters and Jenny's uncanny vocal resemblance to Karen make this an album sure to be popular with a whole new generation of listeners. By revisiting the past, Jenny Sinclair is launching her future and if this CD is any indication, that future will be a long and successful one." - Terry McManus

CD Review from Stuart Cameron   - (U.K)
of Country Hotdisc International & Radio Caroline.

"It was a great pleasure to receive Jenny Sinclair's new CD. As well as being a very talented act in her own right she has always had a voice which suited the material of the late great Karen Carpenter, and I guess it was inevitable that she would one day record a very personal tribute to Karen.

What is nice is that she has chosen some of the lesser known Carpenters songs rather than for the obvious titles, and that is a good move.

I like the fact that she has also included a re-recording of her very personal song "Sweet Child Of Mine" which illustrates that there is much more on offer here than a tribute act! Jenny is a quality writer and performer and I think her career will certainly move on from here." - Stuart Cameron

CD Review from John Kanesaw   - (Texas U.S.A)
Professional drummer/singer/musician for over 35 years and a Carpenters fan

"Listening to Jenny Sinclair's singing is a very spiritual, and emotional experience. Her new CD, the songs, the production, her voice, and especially her spirit are so, so beautiful.

Jenny's product of love is a 'one-of-a-kind', exquisite tribute to Richard and Karen Carpenter, and it showcases Jenny's inimitable voice with the quality of marketing that she so richly deserves.

For those who love Karen Carpenter's awesome singing voice and style, along with Richard Carpenter's lush and sui generis arrangements, pine no more for the past; Jenny Sinclair has resurrected the voice of Karen Carpenter like no other singer on this planet! So be prepared to fall in love with Jenny Sinclair's, CARPENTERS MAGIC - ONE MORE TIME, for Jenny is indeed the freshest and most intimate voice to hit the pop music scene in years!" - John Kanesaw

CD Review from Sue Curtis   - (U.K)
Jenny Sinclair's sister.

"With the launch of Carpenters Magic's CD 'One More Time', starring Jenny Sinclair, there is an opportunity to hear an extremely professional and sensitive re-creation of some of the Carpenters timeless classics.

Additionally the last song 'Sweet Child of Mine', which is a most poignant song about a mother's love for her child, demonstrates Jenny's own special talent as a singer/songwriter. I know that Jenny's song has deeply touched many people, including some who have lost their own 'sweet child'. Jenny speaks to their wounded hearts in her own unique way and she also has the ability to touch people deeply with her own abundance of love and kindness.

I am proud of my sister Jenny's achievements, which have taken a great deal of time and effort, in the face of adversity in her own life at times, although she continued to shine as she was always meant to do." - Sue Curtis

CD Review from Ron Zurek   - (California U.S.A)
The Webmaster of the "Make Your Own Kind of Music" Web site and former Executive Committee member at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, California.

"Jenny puts her heart and soul into every one of the Carpenters' classic songs. When I closed my eyes and first listened to Jenny sing I could see Karen performing onstage once again. Jenny's tribute is truly amazing, as she paints a portrait with her voice of who would become one of the most successful female singers of the 1970s." - Ron Zurek

CD Review from Billy Thomas   - (Kentuckey U.S.A)

"I really enjoyed your ablum. It brought back so many memories of the Carpenters. It's a fantastic tribute. "Now" sounds so much like the Carpenters. Keep up the great work. It's a great piece of work. - Billy Thomas

CD Review from Rick Henry   - (U.S.A)
The Carpenters Online

"Carpenters Magic: One More Time is a tribute CD recorded by Jenny Sinclair. Jenny does a fine job capturing the range and atmosphere of Karen Carpenter's unique and inimitable voice. The musical arrangements of each song on this disc stay true to the originals composed by Richard Carpenter, thus making an outstanding tribute to the Carpenters. Another point of interest about this disc is the choice of songs. Instead of recording the classic hits Jenny chose to record favorite Carpenters album tracks. Including "Now", the last song Karen recorded, the inspiring "Sometimes" and "Road Ode" which is a huge favorite of Carpenters fans.

Thank you Jenny for a wonderful tribute to the Carpenters and for your own lovely original composition "Sweet Child Of Mine". - Rick Henry

CD Review from Ken David   - (U.K)
Hospital Radio D.J.

"Jenny,
I have to say that the CD is brilliant, I thought your online demo's were excellent but this just tops it all !!!!!! I can't believe how much you sound like Karen Carpenter, I can close my eyes and almost imagine it's her singing, you are so good. For me I prefer the faster songs from the Carpenters, songs like Yesterday Once More and Superstar but your versions of their slower songs are superb and so easy to listen to, so much so I haven't been able to turn the stereo off since I received the CD this morning. If I had to single out favourite songs from the CD they would be End Of The World (which is my favourite from the Carpenters Now and Then album, the Bacharach David Medley and your song Sweet Child Of Mine. However it really is a pleasure to hear all the songs, you can really hear the feeling in these songs.

When I get back into Hospital Radio I will make sure I play your CD as much as I can, I think you are going to do really well.

Jenny, it's been well worth the wait, let me know when you next have a CD out and also keep me up to date with your concerts, I would love to see you performing live." - Ken David

CD Review from Marian Mackney   - (U.K)

"I have listened to your CD and have much to say. First the Invocation was beautiful but so short I wanted more.

Ancient people's believe music/song speaks directly to the Gods and they to us. In songs/music there lives a power we don't fully understand. It is the power of human emotion experienced through your own suffering. Like the power of prayer it transcends time and space and touches the sacred places within us all and we all share in this experience. We are united in sadness and joy through the power of song and music. The songs mirror back to us the experience we have had in our lives.

To sum it all up for me I believe your songs are one way God works his mysterious power through us all.

I can now hear that emotion and rich power coming more and more through your voice and I know it has come from your own genuine experience from your sufferings too. Remember this Jenny when you sing, you touch us all in our secret sacred places. As the invocation song says "For those who have eyes that would see"
I cried at the song "NOW" the words spoke to me and THE 'YOU' became "God":

And then your "Sweet Child" song followed and dried my tears with your words "Put your hand in mine there is no hill or mountain we can't climb".
And this left me with a feeling of completedness.

The songs are quite sad and wistful. I can hear the subtle changes in your voice, there is a sweeter richer tone and sound coming through now. As I listened I had this experience and I have tried to put it in a poem as follows:.

I listened to your sad sweet songs Stirring my memories floating wistfully along Seeing Ghosts of people I have known Echoeing their fragrance with your tone

The words of your song whispered in my head Weaving through the years the tears I'd shed From a time whose meanings I didn't understand But see them now as 'God's lessons are planned'

The pain and the sadness now depart As your songs help me move from head to my heart And I see that things fit into a perfect whole And the broken pieces make up my soul

With your singing I remember God's signs And feel the completeness of those sacred times Mirroring back to me all the years each one in line I re-experience them all 'ONE MORE TIME' " - Marian Mackney

CD Review from Neil Chamberlain   - (U.K)
A Carpenters Fan

"Jenny,
Well where do I start to write how great I think the CD is (the only complaint I have Jenny is that there is only 11 tracks) I wish there was more (is that being greedy) (yes) your voice is a pleasure to listen to and I have played it all night.

Like Karen you too have been given a gift I have written this to you before but you have a voice of an angel. There is no track that is my favourite as you have chosen so well each track is so good simple the CD is brilliant like you.

I must write I do love 'Sweet Child of Mine' you sing the song with such feeling and each verse you sing of that song I can hear that you are singing this song to one person your son Mickey. He must be very proud of you and your mum must be looking down on you I know she must be so proud of you.

It would be great for you to do a CD of all your own material with songs like 'Sweet Child of Mine' the CD would be out of this world.

Jenny you are a warm and fantastic person for all that you do and today you made my day thank you very much." - Neil Chamberlain

CD Review from Marian Reader   - (U.K)
MAIDSTONE SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

"I recently had the pleasure of meeting Jenny Sinclair when she came along to the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone to the "Bliss in Concert" evening. I was struck then, by the sincerity and goodwill that Jenny emanates. She left her Carpenters Magic "One More Time" Tribute CD with me to listen to.

I have to say that I am simply amazed at Jenny's voice - she sounds so much like Karen Carpenter that it's unreal! I've played this CD over and over again and all the memories come flooding back. Jenny you have a real gift - please share it around the Theatres and venues of the world. You will be really appreciated!

The final song, "Sweet Child of Mine" written by Jenny herself for her son, Mickey, is a really beautiful and haunting melody that stays in your mind when you've listened to it for a couple of times. It tells of a Mother's love for her disabled child and how love conquers everything - even disability. There is great depth and meaning in the words and the music.

Jenny I wish you well - much love and happiness and success in your work, because you are actually sending out a very spiritual message. I know you will go from strength to strength. God bless you." - Marian Reader ..

Ladies and gentlemen come closer. Its me Jimmy Cricket. When I worked with Jenny at the Gillingham foot club I could hear her as I was putting my wellies on getting ready for my spot. I couldn't believe it, It was the nearest thing to karen Carpenter I'd heard. I bet if the audience closed their eyes they'd have been brought back to another time and place. Jenny Sinclair: International Artist Humanitarian of the year

ARTICLE IN THE EUROPEAN JOURNAL U.S.A.

British country music leading singer, Jenny Sinclair.

Jenny Sinclair's contributions to country music and charitable causes were well noticed by music lovers, the fans of the legendary Carpenters and her community in Great Britain. Sinclair released a splendid CD as a tribute to Karen Carpenter. And she wrote a heart felt song "Sweet Child Of Mine" dedicated to Mickey, her son who was born disabled with cerebral palsy. The song brings tears to your eyes, joy to your heart and hope to all those who are suffering from that threatening disease. The uplifting part of her musical contribution is not only the serene beauty of her lyrics and music but, her generous donations to various charitable organizations in Great Britain which are helping disabled children. Substantial revenues from the sale of her CD go to those charitable organizations and centers. Sinclair is using her enormous talents and musical gift to bring public awareness about that  menacing disease. Jenny Sinclair is more than a superb artist, she is a world class singer with a heart bigger than the world we live in. The European Journal has selected Ms. Jenny Sinclair as International Artist-Humanitarian of the year. Indeed, Ms. Sinclair is a great asset to our world.

On 27th May 2007 Jenny was aksed to perform her Carpenters tribute show at a wedding and was asked to sing to the bride and groom "We've Only Just Begun". Once married the bride had a wonderful new name..........Karen Carpenter!

This is what she had to say...

"On Friday 25th May I got married and became Karen Carpenter and we found this fabulous lady to perform at our event.
She had the voice of an angel and sounded so like Karen Carpenter it made the hair stand up on your neck. It was a brilliant night and we loved every minute of the sound that we heard and we danced like there was no tomorrow.

Thank you for making our day Jenny.

Karen Carpenter"
