And a fine day to you -

Forgive the lateness of this information; I've been struggling with an intermittently fucked internet connection for the past couple of weeks. BUT the news is this...

The authentically eclectic Dandelion Radio has been spinning a couple of cuts from the Breeds With Anything EP in its August playlist, specifically on Mark Whitby and Pete Jackson's shows. First and foremost, their patronage is appreciated, but also everyone should really go give Dandelion a listen. Anyone possessed of the spirit of the late, great Peel deserves your attention & ears.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, a funny thing happened on the way to the next full-length...

I accrued a crop of riffs & lyrical snippets that, while ill-fitted to the overall direction of the next album, were good enough that I didn't want to leave mouldering in some dark corner of my closet. What all these ideas had in common was a certain midwestern male-aggro "pigfucker" musk. Reconstructing the six strongest motifs into proper songs, I've exorcised my inner redneck and now present to you...

Breeds With Anything

Thanks again to Simon at SVC for indulging me, and thanks to anyone who downloads the EP. (Did I mention it's free? Yeah, no excuses - go cop it now.)

UPDATE: The folks over at Music Like Dirt say the following:

Every track is an exhilarating Garage assault but my pick is ‘A Pretty Good Game' which brings in shades of LCD Soundsystem and Pixies (’Big Woman Come On’ was a close second).

Exhilarating & assaultive. You read it here, folks!

Once, for a brief & misguided period in 2003, I was employed by a commercial music production house.

Mercifully, they fired me. I celebrated by spending my first weekend of unemployment bashing out a 23-track scrap heap of sonic whimsy entitled I Used to Write Jingles For a Living. I started giving it out as a freebie CD-R at my old band's live shows around the East Coast.

Then, somehow the album started making the rounds in Russian file-sharing circles - including various pay-per-MP3 sites. Well, bollocks to that, Ivan! To undercut these plunderous leeches, I've cast dignity & profits to the wind and posted I Used to Write Jingles For a Living in full at Last.FM - and it's free to download. Get the goodies here:

Because, in the words of A.A. Newcombe, "the Beatles were for sale - I give it away."

That's right, folks: the hot, new 20-minute maelstrom of glide guitar & production gags is awaiting your thirsty ears over at SVC Records at this very moment. A mere two quid for five songs, this digital release comes adorned with print-quality, eye-tickling photography by international Frenchman of mystery, Emeric 'Le Grand et Dur.'

But don't take my word for it - here's some of the advance bloggardry about Yeah, Well, Coué's Dead:
'A nasty remix of 'US Out of NY' goes for your throat in the best NIN tradition... [a] fine collection of demented dance indie industrial psychedelica.' - Here Comes the Flood

'Weird, this is true, but in a way that seems just right.' - Lost In Your Inbox
How about that, eh? Weird & demented... and here I thought I was being embarrassingly accessible. (Not to mention I thought Axl Rose would be the only one earning NIN comparisons this week.)

Naturally, Exit Strategy (and its freebie sibling NO Sense, NO Feeling) are also still available courtesy of SVC. All three releases make great stocking-stuffers, especially since (thanks, busted-ass economy!) they're ludicrously affordable and don't require any extra shelf-space.

At any rate - click over, dig in, and enjoy.

Ladies & gentlemen,

As of April 14th, Ought-Eight, SVC Records (a.k.a. the label with the best taste in Blighty) will make my latest full-length, Exit Strategy, available to you, the teeming public. The choice exists between the sleek convenience of high-res MP3s (plus printer-ready album art, immaculately curated by Graeme Swinton), or the classic physical comfort of CD (by mail order). Either purchase can be made right here.

But wait - there's more! (Insert feigned shock here.)

In the interest of disseminating sonic memes far & wide, anyone who purchases Exit Strategy directly from SVC (as opposed to iTunes or other corporate behemoths) will be gifted a second full-length: the improv-oriented instrumental collection, NO Sense, NO Feeling, which was produced in collaboration with the gentlemen of NO and Mr. Scott Liss.

Why? Because the world is in dire need of more good music. Better to cast it into the boundless aether than lock it in the closet to collect dust.

Good night, and good luck,

Seb R.
