So, continuing in my recent tradition of siphoning all excess income back into the business, I've ordered a bunch of new stuff to help improve the quality of work here even further.

First up has been quite a hefty delivery of acoustic insulation, which is still going in as we speak. Things are sounding tighter than ever in here, and the room is almost worthy of housing the stellar Event Opal centerpieces.

Second has been some guitar/amp gear to help with reamping guitars on lower budget projects.

Third have been improvements to the recording path, and a new option for guide guitar tracks in the spirit of providing ever more options.

I hope you guys have all been dealing as well as I, and I look forward to catching you out there. As always, if you have a project in the works, get in touch and let's have a talk about it.

All the best,
Ermz.

Current mood:  satisfied
Hey everyone,

I've updated the flash mp3 player on the myspace page with some new works, including one of the tracks from the new Untruth EP.

Hope you enjoy.

So, with great excitement I can announce that the Untruth EP has finally been mixed and sent over to Sweden for the finishing touches. We're all eagerly awaiting the return of the masters, and myself especially so, with all indications being that this is my strongest work to date as a tracking and mix engineer.

Stay tuned for new sample clips to make their way up here very shortly. It's about time the player had an overhaul.

All the best,
Ermin.

Alright, so I haven't had much time in recent weeks to update this blog, but I thought I would throw up a quick status update for those who care.

I wrapped up tracking Untruth's EP in late June and then promptly moved onto recording Divine Ascension's debut album. This one has been rather intensive. It's now at the very end of July and I've barely had a day to spare. There is still a fair way to go with this record and we're already a month through. It's proving to be quite the mammoth undertaking, and I'm quite pleased because we are taking the time it needs to shine. This will be one quality CD when all is done and dusted.

In other news I will be continuing guitar tracking with Eye of the Enemy around the middle of August. This is one record where no expense is being spared and we are pushing it all to the limits. More on this as it develops, but so far the drums are almost tracked and it's obvious even this early on that it's going to sound massive.

To wrap it all up, in order to help me track and mix all these releases I've bought some new additions to the project studio. Please welcome the Event Opals:

These are some monstrous monitors. I've been spending the better part of the last week acclimating and I'm hearing details I've never heard before in records I've listened to for years. An investment for the future, as they say.

I've also revamped the computer system here in order to run higher track counts, more FX and generally throw everything but the kitchen sink at a mix without the PC flinching.

So all in all, things are looking very good and very very busy. More updates will follow as these records start seeing release.

Have a good one,
Ermin.

It's been a fairy hectic few weeks over here. Initially it was a bit of a rush to get the Orpheus EP mixed in time for it to get sent off for pressing, and later to get the Untruth EP recorded. You know it's been a good month when all you can remember doing is working and sleeping (and sneaking in GTAIV when the band aren't looking)!

So anyway, the Orpheus EP is on the verge of release, and that's one I'm really happy to see come out due to the great quality songwriting within. The recording process itself was very budget limited, but that definitely does not overshadow the great music on the CD. I gave it my best shot and the band appear proud to call it their own. What more can one ask for?

The Untruth EP has been a bundle of fun so far. Almost non-stop tracking and editing on my part. It's been quite intense, but it's all building towards a heck of a pay off. We are making sure to make the very most of the time we have and pull out the best quality end product possible. Vocals were finished last weekend and boy did they come up a treat. At the rate things are moving, this one is likely to be mixed by the end of the month, hopefully mastered sometime next and the release pending! But until then one thing will remain firmly on my mind... 'how do make sound Swedish enough!?'

There are quite a few other projects in the works as always, so things won't be slowing down anytime soon. If anyone wants a piece of the action, don't wait for the train to slow down, just run and hop on!

Until next time,
Ermin.

So, for the near mid-year news update!

The Orpheus EP is on the brink of being finished. All that's left is a proper master and then it's off to get pressed. From what I hear from the band the artwork is on its way and the tentative release date is the end of June. The recording process was a bit budget limited, but that doesn't overshadow the fact that there is going to be some fantastic music on this CD. Definitely keep an ear out closer to release.

In early June I'll be working with Untruth on a new EP release, that's in the ~6 track ballpark. I'm supervising this one the whole way through so be ready for some anally produced melodic metal.

There are of course more things on the horizon, but I won't get into specifics again. June and July are for the most part booked out, with other projects looming later in the year. I'm always open to working on new projects, so get in touch with me and we'll make it work.

Have a good month folks.
Ermin.

Current mood:  hungry
There's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes here at the moment that a lot of people are unaware of. That'll tend to happen when you're largely unknown, but despite that, I refuse to go down silently!

One of the most notable changes happening are entirely new and professional myspace and website designs for my business. I just took a peak at the draft and it's looking amazing. I feel I've
teamed up with an amazingly gifted graphic designer who is finally able
to put my thoughts and ideas about visuals out into the real world (or
at least the digital one). I will be 're-launching' this under a new name that will reflect the nature of the work done here more fittingly

In the mandatory work-related news, I've just done a slew of drum editing for the new Luthor album. That one is well on its way to being tracked and I look forward to being involved some more with it in the coming weeks. Currently it's the Orpheus EP, which we hope to have wrapped up by the end of the month if all goes well.

So lest I bore you for too long, I'll sign off now and get back to listening to my alterna-rock. Hope the weeks are kind to you all.

Ermin.

Current mood:  busy
I had never thought that a downturn in global economic growth would spell such a boon for those in my line of work. The latter part of March and April so far has consisted mainly of lining up a ton of new projects throughout the year. Not many dates are concrete yet, but it looks to be an intensely busy period during the middle of the year.

Fortunately, the burden is lessened by one more project getting out the door. The Envenomed EP finally saw its masters come out last weekend.

I'd recommend this one to all melodic metal fans. You can check the band out, along with a myspace-compressed clip of a new track over at: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=135247840

With that said, I will have a higher fidelity sample track from this CD up in the near future.

Look for the CD sometime in the coming month or two, as there's some quality music on there. A CD launch has been organized, but you can get more details about that from the band's end in the coming weeks. Reception so far has been astounding, so I hope you all are as happy as we are.

Things to look out for from this point are...

Orpheus mini-album
Untruth EP
Memnoir cd/release/thing of some variety
Divine Ascension album
Luthor album
Elm Street album

& a few unconfirmed projects, one including a very prominent local power/prog band.

Hope you're all keeping as entertained as I am!

All the best,
Ermin.

G'day folks,

Been a while since the last update, as seems to becoming habitual for me on here. Things have been absolutely flat out here for the past 2 months, so there's been nary any chance to catch up and let you guys know what's going on.

In the spirit of keeping you all in the loop, here is what I've been up to lately, in a totally sweet bullet point format:

-Got a bunch of gear and acoustic treatment into the project studio
-Got new monitors (we get some neat sub-bass action in here now.. great for those corny sub-drops or dance tracks)
-Been working on Envenomed's EP (almost done!)
-Been working on Elm Street's debut album (first slew of sessions done!)
-About to begin mixing Orpheus' mini-album
-In negotiations to do a number of bigger releases a bit further into the year
-Still waiting on more totally sweet gear to arrive

In a nutshell, that's about it. Busy, busy, busy, but never to busy to fit you in, baby, so call me now, for Melbourne's premier recording service...

Till next time,
Ermz.

Hey guys,

Been a while since my last news bulletin, so I hope to rectify that here.

Things have been moving along and work is picking up again. Currently I am finishing up the mix on Envenomed's debut EP - though I have to say the constant Aussie heat has been making it hard to keep a straight head. Seems there's around 4 months in the year where productivity inevitably drops to 0.

Early next month I'll be entering the newly-renovated Pony Studio with local band Elm Street to start hammering out their debut album. We have a fair amount of time booked in a great facility, so expect some good things on that front.

Alongside that I've been working with and helping produce a budding dark/industrial/alternative rock act from LA. That should culminate in some mixing work in the coming months to tie up a debut album for them. This is a fairly new type of project for me and a great chance to expand the repertoire. The influences link back to many of my favourite sounds, so I'm really keen to get it all happening.

Back to local news, I will still be mixing young band Orpheus' debut EP sometime after the Envenomed CD is done. This one has been delayed quite a bit, but will hopefully be the better in the end for it.

On the far horizon is a potential album for for an established Australian progressive metal band, which is very exciting. Not many details to be shared at this point, but provided all things go well you will hear the news for youselves as they develop.

Other than that it's just been a case of trying to manage to stay productive at all in this heat. Getting used to my new acoustically treated environment, gear etc. I'm still racking up on gear to improve my ability to record and mix from my project studio, so things are getting better all the time. I look forward to showcasing all my new work to you folks.

As always, if you have any projects you'd like my input on feel free to get in touch. I'm always open to working on more material, even if it is a fair way from being branded a final product.

Cheers,
Ermin.
