Galactic's new album will be released on February 9, 2010. Recorded in New Orleans, these long time residents have made an album that reflects the city as they see it - blending all the town's distinctive sounds in a way no band has done before.

The album features established legends such as the Rebirth Brass Band, Irma Thomas, Big Chief Bo Dollis, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Allen Toussaint with younger artists like Trombone Shorty and Corey Henry, John Boutté, Josh Cohen and Scully and Glen David Andrews, as well as groundbreaking new “Bounce” artists like Cheeky Blakk, Big Freedia, Katey Red, and Sissy Nobby. The end result is New Orleans like it’s truly meant to be heard, and pure GALACTIC.

Just got back from Paris. We ate our way through that city-everything from croissant's to pig’s feet. The gig was in an art house theater outside of Paris. With the soul rebels brass band on the bill, we had a great time having those guys sit in on the tune we recorded together on the last album “From the Corner to the Block”. Those guys really tore it up. The place was really going off-definitely one of our best shows in France. Can’t wait to get back there!

Thanks to all that came out to the Denver Fillmore last night. We had an awesome time there. The show was totally off the hook with sit ins by JJ Grey (from Mofro), George Porter, Jr, Henry Butler, the Mofro Horns, and our own New Orleans horn section of Corey henry and Andrew Baham. it really did feel like Mardi gras in the Mountains. we are looking forward to the next week, with shows in Snowmass, Aspen, Tulsa (long overdue), st louis, and memphis. We will be hooking back up with JJ Grey and Mofro for the Tulsa and St louis shows! Hope to see y'all out!!

We just finished a killer 5 night run with the Mighty Underdogs (Gift of Gab, Lateef the truthspeaker, and Headnotic).  It was so much fun having those guys rock it with us every night.  The other night in Lawrence, Lateef didn't want it to come to an end.  During our encore, he snuck out on stage during Stanton's drum solo and started freestyling.  We all joined in for a freestyle jam.  That was a great way to end our run with them.

Now on to touring with our good friends, JJ grey and Mofro.  For this part of the tour we are excited to be bringing out Corey Henry on Trombone and Andrew Baham on trumpet to join us.  Should make for some amazing shows! 

It has been a really fun start to the tour so far. We've got Corey Henry and Shamarr Allen on trombone and trumpet for this run, and they are both total bad ass players from the New Orleans music scene, most notably the Rebirth Brass Band. We had a great time touring the world with all the killer MCs over the last year, but it feels really good to get back to basics and rock out some instrumental jams with these guys.
