I'm sooo bad at keeping this blog up to date (because MySpace blogging sucks big donkey dong), but I thought I'd write a post to let you know that Dan Beahm and The Invisible Three (with cello!) is playing at The Meadowlark in Denver (27th and Larimer) on Wednesday, July 2.

The show is free, so you should come hear the pretty music.

I've posted a new article entitled "Amplifier, the second coming" on my blog.

Due to cross-posting and formatting restrictions within the MySpace system, the article will not be posted here.

I think it's hilarious that MySpace's "new skin" is a blatant rip-off of the Facebook interface.

I love it when "the leader," "the giant," makes changes to try and keep up with their encroaching competition.

That is all.

Alrighty then.  I believe we have placed this one "in the can," as they say in the biz.  Now we just master and press, and it's off to the kiddies for Christmas!

We'll be posting some pre-release tunes up on the MySpace page soon.

Thanks for listening!

Finishing touches are being put on the album.  We're down to the "tweaking stage," and just about done with even that.  Then it's the mastering house and off to press!

Our new target date for completion and availability is before Thanksgiving, so you'll be able to use the Dan Beahm and The Invisible Three album for stocking stuffers this year (I can't believe I just started pimping Christmas before Walmart --ouch).

Thanks for your patience, and remember: we're going to need your help getting the word out once this thing is finished.  It's all about the word of mouth, podcasting, grass roots and what not... you are our greatest asset, and we love you for it.

So, admittedly, I'm behind the times.  I have no problem copping to the fact that I've been spending way more time writing and recording music than figuring out how to distribute it.  But now that two album projects are nearing completion, the challenge is figuring out how to get my music into the hands (and heads) of "the people."

Lizard McGee, of Columbus, OH band Earwig (check them out, they're freaking stellar), turned me on to the beauty of podcasting.  Yeah, I know what they are and generally how they work, but until I started clicking through the wond'rous maze that is pod-dom, I was living in a dark age.

This is the shit.

I'm always lamenting the fact that there is soooooo much music out there and no way for me to possibly wade through it all to sift the diamonds from the slop.  Well, turns out the trick is to let somebody else to it for you.

There are literally thousands of people out there yearning to play DJ.  All you have to do is find someone you generally trust --musically--, subscribe to their podcast (which involves all the vast complications of clicking a button), and wait each week for them to feed your iPod (though any device or even just a computer with speakers is really all that's necessary).

Some of these podcasters will simply string a bunch of songs together (saving you the trouble of looking for new tunes on the web), but some of these cats spend a lot of time putting a program together, complete with program notes, sound effects, links to artists and websites, interviews, etc...  It's like timeporting back to the early days of radio when DJ's actually picked their own music and put some effort into producing a show.

This week while working the design angle and paying the bills, I have been enjoying new music that I would have never heard otherwise (courtesy of Contrast's Tim Young in the UK), and without having to "waste" any of my precious time searching the web, looking for something that doesn't suck.

Thanks, interweb!  Maybe you are worthwhile afterall.

(keep checking the MySpace site, as I will try and keep the list of podcasts including Dan Beahm and The Invisible Three music up to date)

So... I think we've gotten to a nearly "final" version of the order for the album (though it is as yet still untitled). It goes a little something like this...

1. Half as Cool as Han Solo
2. When It Stars (Glimmer)
3. Kandahar
4. Two Hands
5. Okanaki
6. Stupid Girl
7. Invisible
8. Separate but Equal
9. The Visitor
10. The Longest Day

We've decided to mix it up a little with the "strictly acoustic" and "blatanly electrified," so hopefully that will tickle your fancies.

"Variety good," me say.
