don't look for us on tour in august because we've postponed it until january. do however look out for the record release of our new 10" vinyl record on out gold robot records this august!

Actually, DON"T STOP the presses because that is exactly where the debut Lady Genius EP is at!!! Supported by our good pals over at Gold Robot Records, this beautiful 10" vinyl EP is set for release on August 5th. It will be available through the Lady Genius Myspace page and on the Gold Robot Records Site for $8 + shipping and handling - not to mention at all Lady Genius shows after August 5th.

What's that you say? Your turntable is in the shop and your iPod is your only musical resource? Never fear, 21st century technology is here. Inside every vinyl EP will be a one-of-a-kind secret code that allows each lucky purchaser to download a digital version of the EP from the Gold Robot Records website.

We are also in the process of setting up a record release show for sometime in late August, we'll let you know when we know so check back soon!

hope everyone is getting accustomed to writing 2008 because the Ladies are kicking the new year off right. recording for a 4 song EP on gold robot records gets underway in mid february, with a tentative release scheduled for spring 2008. the EP will take tangible form as a limited edition colored vinyl 7" - oh yes, we love us some vinyl. as an added bonus, those who get their hands on a copy will be able to download a digital version of the EP from the gold robot records website. we will keep you posted on the progress with a definitive release date soon.

also, our first show of the new year will be on friday jan 25th at the house of shields in san francisco. we are looking forward to it and hope to see a slew of you there.

They're So Sweet

Shimmering, clean keyboards back up syncopated boy-girl harmonies for a harsh but pretty effect when Lady Genius takes the stage. Oh, sure, there's a plain guitar/bass/drum setup in there too, but this new local band is in the indie-wall-of-sound realm, so we hesitate to call it rock. We don't want to mislead you: This five-piece has too much sugar to be rock. In fact, Lady Genius even seems to be chewing some bubblegum, if you know what we mean. Good early-1960s bubblegum, but still, it's an unusual pop influence, at odds with the folk and metal that seem to lay down the law for a lot of groups. The result is like the Magnetic Fields crash-landing a flying saucer in New Pornographers-land. Bonus: Art world man-about-town Brian Caraway plays guitar.
