So after navigating the streets of lower Manhattan trying to avoid the gridlock caused by some protest blocking our way to Franklin Street, The Howlin' Thurstons made it to the 4th floor recording studio of Mark Dann. With fearless producer, JP Bowersock's ears equally tuned as our instruments, and Rich's highly skilled hands manning Pro Tools, we got six songs tracked. With some help from the kick ass Vietnamese food, we got much accomplished and are very pleased with the early results. Peter has some over dubs yet to record, and then JP and Mark will have at it. We hope to have the final product ready for public consumption in the weeks to come. Stay tuned!

Big fuzz and drama give "Dick Marmalade Private Eye" a solid and formidable sound. The rhythm borders on Hawkwind, well maybe only suggests it, but that adds a heaviness to this. The rhythm contrasts to the melody for an engaging arrangement. Great drums.

Lining Up For Latte ()

"Lining Up For Latte" is a rock instro with a strong structure and road worthy sound. This very modern rocker is very cool. In some ways, it's a regular rock instro, but there's more here than just that.

Well we're back and better than ever! First bit of news... We would like to welcome Tom Avitabile with open arms to the pack of wolves that is the Howlin' Thurstons. Tom's drumming cuts through the tracks with the force and accuracy of a deadly assassin. Consider yourself warned.

Secondly, We are proud to unveil "Road Rage and Other Acts of Unprovoked Violence" our latest four song EP of all entirely original instrumental madness. Tracks include: "Dick Marmalade Private Eye", "Lining Up For Latte", "Road Rage", and "Quitus Diriculous".

Just before The Thurston's holiday break, we were back in the studio with J.P. Bowersock at the helm laying down three new tracks for the highly anticipated Thurstons CD. The CD is nearly complete and we will definitely have it completed sometime this year. As of right now 9 Thurston originals are recorded and mixed. We plan to get back in the studio one more time to record three more tunes, then it's off to final mixing.

D our bass player was attacked by a rabid piano, two weeks ago. He was save by his son who took a chainsaw to the ugly monster with the 88 teeth killing it dead, but not before it severely tore a nasty laceration in Kevin’s foot and fractured several bones.  Poor old Kevin will be layed up for 8 to 12 weeks recuperating.  Pity.  We’ve had to cancel our 8/25 gig at the Lakeside Lounge, and we’re busy scrambling to find a temp replacement for the Sept 17^th gig,.

 

So far the plan is to do half our usual set and half some Garage/Rockabilly shit. We kidnap two players from A’s side project, The Fops.  Should prove to be an interesting night.
