past midnight and thats when I always find myself tearing though my closet looking for cloths for the next month or so... luckily one of the weeks on the next trip will be spent in Borneo Malaysia so I've packed 2 bikinis, one swimsuit, 3 dresses and a fancy one for main stage show and a pair of shorts and tank top. 2 pairs of jeans- one for colorado tour, one for kansas tour. i think i'm set.

The next few weeks are looking like FUN. We'll be spending the 4th of July in Gold Hill CO (first time in years we're gone from Chicago on the 4th- trust me, we'll miss you all at Fitzgeralds!) then a long flight around the world and then back to beautiful Kansas!

Thanks to everyone (esp. Jill) who came out to our show in Asheville- we had a great night at Jack of the Woods and loved the guys we were playing with- Dean Marold-bass and Will Straughn- dobro -They both rocked and we hope to do it again soon.

we'll keep you all posted on the Borneo trip.
more soon
love,
Vida

Current mood:  inquisitive
Writing from Humbolt Park, Chicago....cool gig last night at a good neighborhood bar called Quenchers. LeRoy Bach opened the show with some good songs and humor...took some picture in the photo booth & admired several tattoos.

Last week was Jazzfest and the show went great (read Chris Rose's review: tp://www.nola.com/jazzfest/index.ssf/2009/04/jeff_vida_bring_a_little_high.html)

Following our set Theresa Andersson performed her solo show, which sounds like a big band btw. , subdudes and then EmmyLou Harris closed the day...we'll get some photo's up soon. Of course that was just one stage (!)

We'll be hitting the N. Carolina next week- seldom get there and looking forward to being back, playing a few new places too including Brevard NC. and returning to Aberdeen at the Roosters Wife.

The van is holding up.

Life is good.

Current mood:  chipper
Sorry for not posting sooner. We have a few bits of news...

First off we'll be playing Jazzfest this Thursday at 12:45 Gentilly Stage (yeah, the BIG one!). We're bringing the cannons this time- half new orleans J&V Band (Mike Kerwin, Gina Forsyth), half Colorado J&V Band (Jake Schepps, Greg Schochet).

A few warm up gigs- Wednesday at 4pm at DBA and then later that night a 'surprise' set at Ingrid Lucia's Backyard Bash!

NEW CD- SELMA CHALK-we got it! it's available at shows since it isn't 'officially' released yet...some come get you one!

Last but not least- the colorado/Kansas tour was super fun- the new group (Jake Schepps, Justin Hoffenberg and Will Downes) are our dream band! Thanks to the DeWayne Bros for all the fun in Emporia :) not to mention all the clubs that had us- we love you!

We'll be doing it again real soon...like next month..and throughout the summer...fall...etc. check the cal.

OK- getting the hell out of Slidell...will be in Mid-city soon. (I will find my joy)

J&V play new song on Blue Plate Special, wdvx

The wait will soon be over...we've committed to recording a new record, finally, and go into the studio the last week of June. We're incredibly excited, have a bunch of new songs and have recruited an unbelievable line-up. It's been difficult to imagine recording the last few years as things started getting from crazy to crazier. Between moving to Nashville, Katrina, a non-stop tour schedule for over 4 years and generally trying to hold things together it was a looming shadow in the back of our minds...not to mention an often asked question- brushed aside by vague promises on our part. We had plenty of material, but none of it felt quite right, plenty of great musician friends, but none in the same place...finally, while on tour in Colorado this March, Jake Schepps casually mentioned that maybe we'd think about recording out West. It's our good fortune he did, because suddenly the idea turned (very quickly) into the best idea- EVER! Will keep you posted...
