Anyone want to take a quick walk with me, to discover something amazing?

Here's a short link: http://bit.ly/18t17o

(Once again, I'm sorry that I can't post Flickr photos here!)

Dunvegan Castle has officially taken over my heart (and my blog) today! But...since I can't post Flickr photos on myspace, you'll have to hop on over to my Notes from the Author's Desk to see and enjoy the fascinating information and photos!

(And yes, you'll have to click on the annoying little warning myspace insists on popping up first. It's going to ask if you really want to go to http://bit.ly/18t17o. Trust me. You do. That's just a shortcut URL that will lead you to http://www.KathleenMacIver.com/blog. I've taken to using these shortcut URLs so as to avoid having myspace blacklist my website as a spammer, like they have with numerous other personal websites.

Does anyone know why in the world myspace acts as if they are the only safe website on the Internet? ::sigh::)

(otherwise known as Allison & Gabe's story)

.

All previous installments are available on my FreeRead page.

___________________________________________________________

...

Allison surveyed the valley from her vantage point on the ridge.

Below was her little rental car and the castle she'd just left. To her right, the waters of Loch Rhoswen narrowed and disappeared into a thick forest that crept up the mountainside, almost to where she stood. To her left, the loch curved down to the town where Mrs. Murchieson kept her little inn.

Six years ago, Gabe stood here and looked down on a sight that must have been nearly identical. What had he done next? Where had he gone? Had he gone down the other side of the mountain, behind her, or had he climbed back down to his bicycle and ridden off to meet his fate elsewhere.

There were no answers and no way of knowing. In reality, there was nothing else she could do--no where else to look. All she could do was return to the little inn and hope that Murray MacCoinneach discovered something that might be helpful in some miraculous way.

Lights began winking off, down in town, as shops were closed for the evening. She continued to watch as other lights were flipped on as people came home from work. Not that the lights were really needed yet. The long summer days of Scotland were far from over.

But perhaps it was habit. And perhaps she should get going if she wanted to make it back inn before Mrs. Murchieson's dinner got cold.

Here is a beautiful example of just how spectacular many of Scotland’s coasts are.

This particular stretch of coast is on the eastern side of Westray, which is one of the many Orkney Islands. About 550 people live on this island, which is the sixth largest of the 70+ islands that comprise the Orkney Islands. These islands are so far north that there is no darkness in the summer months. In fact, it’s still bright enough at midnight to read!  Yet…believe it or not, the average winter temperature is still above freezing!

See the picture! (The myspace blog doesn't work with flickr photos.)

Here it is! I think I've got enough plotting done to be able to give the next number of installments in a semi-regular fashion again! :-)

As I was working on the plotting, I figured out a title for this story!

It is, at least, a working title. (Titles are always subject to change, unfortunately.) I also re-formatted the previous installments, creating chapter divisions and having fun with CSS coding so you can now more easily pretend you're reading a real book! ::smiles::

Sooo... if you still remember the last glimpse of Gabe we had, and you remember where Allison is and what she's doing, read on. But if my inability to post regularly has resulted in the story getting buried in the farthest recesses of your memory, you'll find the complete story (so far), on my FreeRead page.

Enjoy!

Go read it!
