Great news this week about one of my songs!
"Grassy Creek" will be appearing on the WNCW "Crowd Around The Mic" Vol. 13 Compilation CD ("Better Day" appeared on CATM Vol. 10).

Also, just got word today that "Grassy Creek" will also appear on Creative Loafing's Homebrew III Compilation CD.

All the thanks in the world to Dennis Jones @ WNCW and Jeffrey Hahn at Creative Loafing for including the song on these upcoming releases.

More info soon on release dates and performances...

What a wonderful spirit and Chris had the greatest humor of anyone that I've ever met.  He was/is loved by so many people and it showed at his funeral and also at his memorial at Dugan's Pub in Brevard on Saturday, July 25th, 2009. He is greatly missed and he will always be in our heart. Bless all of his family and friends. We love you brother.

What a sad day for all who knew and witnessed one of the greatest
singer/entertainers to ever walk on this earth. We are truly blessed to
have been in the presence of such a wonderful soul. Music will never be
the same for the Queen City as it has now lost it's Godfather of Music.
I can only think of one other musician in our city that can classify
musically with Charles and that's Bill Hanna.

I am honored and privileged
to say that I had the opportunity to play music with Charles here in
Charlotte either playing guitar, drums or percussion on a few
occasions. When I had the opportunity to play with him, it was so
exciting just to be there. Sometimes I'd stop playing because he would
send chills up and down my spine with his singing and entertaining. If
any one of us were in attendance at one of his shows, we all counted
the seconds anticipating him putting that microphone down and start
walking around singing away and then...hoping he would walk by each one
of us to give a smile, wink or handshake as he touched us with his
voice, style and charisma.

Charles had such an impact on so many
singers and musicians here in town, I know he had a huge impact on me.
Charlotte has lost it's "James Brown", "Otis Redding", "Sam Cooke" "Donny Hathaway" "Daryl Hall"...He is CHARLES HAIRSTON and he will never be forgotten and he leaves a rich musical legacy that will never be equalled.

We all love you, music loves you, MR. CHARLES HAIRSTON.

Rest
in Peace Sir Charles, now God is the lucky one because he can listen to
you 24/7 as you lead THE CHOIR and melt the hearts of the Angels in
Heaven . You are already missed by us and music...People Get Ready
Cause the Train is Coming...Don't need no ticket 'cause Charles Hairston is aboard.
