Portland Metro Artists wanted in all media to open their studios to the public on October 10, 11 (east side) and October 17, 18 (west side). Artists may choose to be open one or both weekends. Show your art processes, sell your artwork, build an audience and communicate with the public. Artists are selected for the event by jury and will have an image of their artwork published in the Tour Guide and on the web.

2009 Purchase Prize
To celebrate our 10th Anniversary, Portland Open Studios will be awarding up to $1000 to the City of Portland for the purchase of artwork from one or more of our 2009 artists. Representatives from the Mayor's office will make the official selections, and City Hall will host an exhibition of the 2009 artists.

Emerging Artist Scholarship Opportunity for artists between 20 and 30 years old
Kimberly Gales Emerging Artists Scholarship is awarded to one or two emerging artists every year. The recipient will have all fees waived and receive a $100 stipend.

New-Applicant Scholarship Opportunity for new 2009 applicants
The scholarship is open to any artist who would be participating for the first time regardless of media, age, and gender. The scholarship waives the $160 jury and participation fees and the winner is awarded an additional $100 stipend. All new applicants are considered for this scholarship.

Portland Open Studios 2007 is your chance to see the whole picture of making art. Enter a studio, which can be a store front, an elaborate outbuilding surrounded by a luxurious garden or a more modest space inside a home or garage, to see a window into the creative mind at work. Once inside, artists will share with you the secrets of their art--the materials, the tools, the techniques and the ideas that contribute to the creation of paintings, prints, sculptures, textiles, glass, ceramics, and photography. Finished works, brand new and from older series complete the picture.

WHERE:
Tour 98 art studios throughout metropolitan Portland area. There isn't a better way to discover the vitality of Portland than to visit the studios scattered throughout all the neighborhoods. Discover your own neighborhood and explore new ones.

COST:
$15 Tour Guide admits two adults all days (kids free). Includes map, pictures of artists' work and complete contact information in a usable calendar format. Hello, there are two awesome events coming up in September that will give you a chance to see artwork by artist participating in Portland Open Studios.
The first event is a group show with over 50 artist at the Gallery Of Change in the United Way Building. The show will be up from September 6 to October 26, 2007
It includes two First Thursday "Portland Open Studios Artists" receptions:
September 6 & October 4; 6:00 - 9:00 pm free and open to the public.
United Way of the Colubia and Willamette,619 SW 11, Portland OR
(Accross the street from the Governor Hotel downtown)

The Other event is at Artists Repertory Theater.

25 Portland Open Studios artists will help Artists Repertory Theater celebrates the public unveiling of its renovated theater campus and twenty-fifth birthday with an exhibition in both lobbies during September. An Open House block party starts the festivities with the exhibit, a Poetry Open Mic, an Acoustic Open Mic plus Complimentary drinks and treats.
Where: throughout the block between Alder and Morrison on SW 15th. (thanks to the sponsorship of the Willamette Week.)

Open House September 10, 6:00 -10:00 free and open to the public.

The tour guides for Portland Open Studios are on Sale now! Visit www.portlandopenstudios.com and click on the Tour Guide link to find a list of stores in you area that are selling the tour guide.
The tour guides are $15 each. The tour guides include 2 tickets good for all four tour days, a map and directions to all the studios, pictures of art work by all the artist, contact information for all the artist, and a 2008 calender. Buy a tour guide at locations such as Art Media, Powell's, and New Seasons Market.

You can also order the tour guides on line for $15 + $3 for shipping, you can also order 10 tour guides for $100.
