I wish this New Year had started with less bloodshed.
What is going on in our world? Why can’t we just act like civilised creatures? We have everything, so much potential, so much knowledge, so much technology, and still we can not keep from exploiting, suppressing and slaughter each others. Where are compassion and common sense?
Earlier this evening I got this SMS:
Masse barn. Gravid kvinne. Jeg har aldri oppleve noe så fryktelig. Nå hører vi tanks. Fortell videre, rop det videre. Alt. GJØR NOE! GJØR MER! Vi lever i historieboken nå, alle!!”
In English:
“This strong call comes from Mads Gilbert, the Norwegian doctor who is helping at a hospital in Gaza: two hours ago they bombed the central vegetable market in Gaza. 80 injured, 20 dead, all came here to Shifa. Hades! We are wading in blood and amputates. Loads of children. Pregnant woman. I have never experienced such atrocity. Now we hear tanks. Pass this forward, scream it forward. Or DO SOMETHING! DO MORE! Vi are living in the history book, reach everyone!!”
This is madness. And the worst thing still, it is NOT a nightmare. We are all human beings and only humans can stop this. As I do not believe in God there is no point for me praying that he should save us, therefore I pray to humanity: make this stop, we started it. It’s our responsibility to stop it.

Wow, this is fantastic! Ryan air was maybe never famous for their good taste but this is really great! How stupid can you get?
This has happened: Ryan air runs a truly tasteless advertising campaign using a “young sexy model” that has hardly reached puberty. The ethic council in Sweden convicts them of sexually discriminating advertising. Do they care? Oh no. Instead they call the ethic council spoilsport and they refuse to change the advertisement. A bright, intelligent member of Swedish parliament Birgitta Ohlsson gets pissed of by the arrogant attitude of Ryanair and requests a boycott of the company. The head of the communication department at Ryanair Stephen McNamara answers: We are laughing at “Boring Birgitta” and will send her some free tickets so that she can take a vacation and relax a bit, then maybe she will stop requesting idiotic boycotts. Stephen McNamara also says that Ryanair will continue to ”defend the rights of the Swedish girls that wishes to be lightly dressed”!
Isn’t it just brilliant? To turn a conservative mind, a sexual fantasy of a frustrated middle-aged man into a defence of young women’s rights. If it weren’t so tasteless it would be hilarious!
Well, in Sweden we have an expression called “gubbslem” I guess Stephen McNamara and his happy wankers company just put a face to it. And if brains equals boring then yes, there’s a lot of boring women and men in Sweden. And if happiness and joy equals pedo porn then we prefer being sad!
But of course I don’t want to be a spoilsport so before I end, because I’ve got such a generous mind, I just want to give away an idea for Ryanair’s next advertising campaign. Why not make a TV commercial using Stephen McNamara himself doing the “helicopter”. That would be great fun, defending the rights of middle-aged men to do what the want with their willies and furthermore have a real connection to flying which is pretty essential to the company. You could name the campaign: Cheap Thrills!

No, I've decided after having had a real hard time that I cannot keep silent. I really wanted to stop thinking about serious matters and to fill my mind with fluffy pink. But it is just not possible. This issue has to be talked about over and over again.
Violence against women and children are not decreasing in our enlightened world, quite on the contrary reports shows it is increasing.
I recently read an article about Yakin Ertürk who is examining the situation for women around the world. It's a horrific reading.
In Congo it's now days common that soldiers not only rape women but also fill them up with liquid plastics so that they'll get completely destroyed inside.
In Saudi Arabia last year a woman who had been gang raped was sentenced to 200 whiplashes.
In several countries (Sweden included) so called honour killings are committed (stupid name, how could killing ever be honourable?).
These atrocities have to come to an end. Every man and women with a human heart has to speak out. This is NOT OK. Attitudes really have to change.
According to Yakin Ertürk it is not only these spectacular cases that are the most serious. However awful at least media is interested in talking about it. But just as alarming is all the violence against women that is less spectacular. The violence going on in silence in equally advanced countries. Not long ago an Amnesty report chocked the whole world showing the frequency of violence against women in Sweden, a country often used as a role model for equality between the sexes.
And I say to myself, what a wonderful world….

Yes we did it! We made it to the premiere! And it was great. We felt wery good about it and people loved it. The only review we got was fantastic even though the guy didn't really understand the show. Can't blame him. Anyway he thought it was so good he didn't care about not understanding everything and he loved the music! Called it: "suggestive, rapturous and amazingly mature" read the whole review in swedish at:
http://www.ystadsallehanda.se/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080722/NOJE/415673084
Now I have to sleep. As soon as I relaxed after premiere and also after my first art exhibition opening in history (that was great fun) I fell ill. Sore throat, headache and a body that feels like it was eigthy yers old. Isn't it typical? Just my luck, or maby Gods punishment? Who knows?
Lots of love from Janna

Countdown has really started. We feel nervous of course but happy.
4 days to the Premiere of Isabelle - a desert blues! Will you be there? We'd love you to!
2 days after the premiere, on Sunday 20th Janna will have her first arts exhibition. Is she a complete nutcase or just very optimistic? Dragan knows the trick of the trade. He'll be having a photo exhibition the same day but for him it's a piece of cake, he's done it before. (Still, time's too short so maybe he's just as crazy as me).
Love to you all Janna

Not a lot of activity on this blog nowdays but more in real life. I could never imagine that life in the countryside could be so stressful but I guess it's my own fault. In two weeks time we have the premiere of Isabelle - a desert blues. It is going to be smashing! Please be there it's going to be something, don't know what, but extraordinary. Two days later we have the opening of my first concept art exebition: Gå på Semester, probably the only holiday I'll get.
Have fun in the sun, lots of love

Current mood: drained
Men hinner ju aldrig.
Love Janna
